Flames With A Grinder?
johnyrotten replied to FoMoCo66's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Another case of "content creators" doing something for shock value. While I'll give him credit for being able to artistically control the tool,it's long format click bait. More money than brains. I think this would be fine on a demolition derby car, not a decent looking mustang. Sad. -
This thing has been gnawing at my brain since I bought it. Originally wanted to build one box stock, turns out I got took and the seller was less than honest. Anyway lemons lemonade and all that, here's the plan. Injected nailhead, ford nine, wire fronts with no brakes and stupid wide rubber out back. Already scratch built some ladder bars and swapped the front axle. Flat black or candy paint, not sure yet. I'll make something out of this mess.

Welcome to the forum Anthony.

Working with the new guy today. Test of patience. It's been a day of chaotic rushing for no reason, stitches(him) and a twice stuck forklift. Zero. Situational. Awareness.

Great work on this one,Michelle.👍👍. -
Great job on this pontiac. I like that you included the critter's nest. Nice touch.

Shaping up ,Zippi. 👍👍

Coming together nicely. The license plate would make for some interesting questions. Easy enough fix.

Not the kind of creature you want around small kids or pets. Usually I don't mind snakes,I'd make an exception for that one. You're neighbor's dog deserves a steak.

Question for the molotow "pro's"
johnyrotten replied to johnyrotten's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'm relatively new to a lot of products and techniques, I paint wheels and tires similar to what you've shown, and exactly what you're saying is what's happening. On a whim I've started looking into other products, just in case. I do research into pros and cons with the products I use, and molotow, while nice is fragile. I've seen the alclad, the sms hyperchrome is a new one. Any drying time isn't really a concern, I'm patient. Those look great, thanks for posting up the pictures. -
I have limited time to build, so it will sit anywhere from 2-3 days to a few weeks. I also handle it as little as possible and clean hands are a must. Other's have said they use white gloves, I should get some.

Question for the molotow "pro's"
johnyrotten replied to johnyrotten's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I'll definitely give this a shot. Thanks. -
I'm trying to airbrush some wheel trim rings, can not get an even finish for the life of me. No real way to hold the part and spin it, like how I would a wheel or tire, and I keep ending up with that hazy spot that molotow leaves when sprayed too lightly. How do you all go about spraying something shaped this way? Picture of the part and how I'm "holding" them. Already stripped and need to start over. Thanks in advance 👍👍

Got the engine wired and did a little weathering. Also got the wheels/tires painted and the chrome stripped and shot with molotow. The trim rings for the wheels are giving me fits. I cannot get an even finish no matter what i do.

I know the feeling, I've had trees take out the lines on multiple occasions. And the cost of removal isn't great either. At least you got some piece of mind now.

My absolute favorite nissan. Very nicely done.👍👍

Lindberg's '53 Ford - following the instructions
johnyrotten replied to customline's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Looking good, unfortunate that Murphy stopped by for a visit. I'm really liking that color combination -
The woodchuck is a regular, i don't see many rabbits here at work. To think about it, I've never seen any at the house, either. I've never been able to get as close to a wild one as I got this morning.

Saw a rabbit and woodchuck as I was walking into work this morning. I got within 5 feet of the rabbit, it didn't seem afraid of people, just kinda trotted away after seeing me.

I was able to finish up installing new directional lights on my wife's motorcycle. It's nice when a tap will actually cut a thread.
