  1. metal forming is always impressive to watch, especially when it's really heavy plate. That's real power in action. Robotic welders are repeatable and fast with less chance for defects. I see a lot of similar things day to day at work, I may be a bit numb to it. It definitely is a tried and true method for constructing complex shaped housings, cheaply and lighter than a casting.
  2. Just hammering the bolts home without starting them. Especially when they put the cap on the bearing. Interesting video. πŸ‘πŸ‘
  3. I've seen a fisher a few times on my property. 2-3 times in the decade ive owned the house. Angry, mean creatures I've been told.
  4. Cool old school tech. There's a guy on YouTube going over a clutched th400. Poor man's lenco.
  5. Thanks! I'm trying to salvage a raw deal. I'll tell you, everything on this build is tight! No room for anything. The interior will be a challenge, I may try opening the doors, body mods are something I've done VERY little of.
  6. Always liked international trucks, I'm gonna pay attention. Nice work so farπŸ‘πŸ‘
  7. That worked out very well for you, David. Polished up nicely. πŸ‘πŸ‘
  8. Bare metal foil. Like everyone above says. And a fresh #11 blade. StevenGuthmiller above has a fantastic tutorial on trimming arches as well.
  9. Done a bit work more the past couple nights. Moved the front axle, and engine forward, just copied the front mount with some .080 square and shaved off the original. Mocked up a blower, I really want hilborn injection on this, but I needed something for reference. Got most of the firewall made. This is 2024 .025 aluminum sheet. It polishes to a mirror very easily. Probably the last piece going on the car during assembly, it scratches easily as well. Thanks for looking πŸ‘πŸ‘
  10. Yeah, I hear that. I wish I had a picture of them. There was about a half inch of the steel shoe on either side of the friction. Just imagine what that would do to the drum.
  11. I've yet to run into too thick of material, when I went to change the shoes on the gmc due to noise last year the frame was the same, the WIDTH of the material was narrow. Nope, not running that. Scuffed up the old ones and back on. I'll deal with the squeak.
  12. My first ranger was a 93. Same engine as your mustang. It was geared wrong(3.08's?) and absolutely gutless. Great gas mileage and looong legs on the highway.
  13. My wife has a ton of bird feeders, the owls are trying. I enjoy watching them fly and hunt around dusk. Absolutely silent when they fly.
  14. I've gone through that on my wife's vw. Replaced the rear rotors, a year later they are showing rust voids. Swapped them for oem, been good since. No longer buying rotors from that particular chain.
  15. It was a 4.0 5speed. 2wd. I put it together from a couple of trucks on the cheap. Made for a fun truck. I've owned a few of them as they are one of my favorite trucks.
  16. I wasn't into Mustangs in my youth, now I'd love to find one in nice shape. Funny how your taste changes as you get older. Definitely build that modelπŸ‘πŸ‘
  17. Seen the wheel/tire set up,figured it may have been raced. Looks like a good solid car
  18. Beautiful scenery man. Looks like it was a fantastic rideπŸ‘πŸ‘
  19. You're welcome. It's an interesting set of challenges you have, I've found many good tips and tricks come from threads like yours. Polishing bare plastic is something I would like to try on a future build. I've already repaired scratched windshields, but you don't have to worry about losing details with those.
  20. Great build. Very nice scratch building and something a bit different.
  21. Shaping up well. I've always been a fan of the pedestrian ford trucks, in the past few years the more commercial versions have really interested me. Models "bb" and similar. Keep up the good workπŸ‘πŸ‘
  22. I did it myself. Not difficult, but labor intensive and the materials can be costly, I used kilmat and silus products.mid-grade products, bang for your buck.I've got a single cab and did it over a weekend. FYI, just doing the doors will bring a big improvement.
