  1. I'm in the same boat. "If I knew then what I know now"...
  2. The subject I would most like to build never existed, so I've been told, and the closest one avaliable has been modified into a dirt tracker kit, so I'm in a similar situation. Maybe one day I'll build it. Good luck with your search, I hunt flea markets and the like, if I ever see one, I'll grab it up.
  3. I was curious, and checked ebay, and the prices were crazy. I seen almost 200 dollars for a kit, and old promos at 50, not so bad. I'm not well educated in the value/cost of rare kits, so there's that.
  4. Freiburger talked about this on a recent video on this YouTube channel, traveling distance is his biggest challenge with a few of the other guys. I think it would be awesome to see them back messing around. He's been doing "historical road trips" on his channel. Still interesting content.
  5. Any old cords, scraps of wire ( both solid and braided) ect. Basically free if it's lying around. Not sure offhand what sizes work at 1/16 scale, I build 1/24-25. Home depot and the like will have thin fairly stiff wire for mending up fences and the like, word to the wise if go this route, anything that is galvanized emits nasty fumes when heated, so choose wisely. Perhaps old "coax" cable wire could be of some use to you.
  6. Welcome to the forum
  7. That's gonna be perfect. It's just the right amount old school and custom.
  8. This has been parked at the local detailing shop for years, usually blocked by a f350. 40's g.m. I think, not very well versed in those years. There's also a couple late 60's big caprice or impala tucked around back. You can just get a glimpse of those driving by.
  9. This just keeps getting better. Nice work on the front end. We know it'll handle now.
  10. My stepfather's 68 had the hideaways, I believe those were vacuum, though. I'll save your site to pass along, I know quite a few people with projects.
  11. Really nice, I've learned They have a few really cool features. Like the gauge lighting. I think it's called electro-illumination? Actually radioactive paint. Crazy cool.
  12. Good size space for work, starting to come together for you.
  13. Beautiful charger, does that have the full length center console?
  14. Very unfortunate. House fires are one of those things that permanently change people. I've seen a few of those e.v. fires in videos, it's insane how fast they they get out of control. I feel for those people, it's two weeks till Christmas.
  15. Thank you for the compliment. This is my first full build back to the hobby since childhood, I've got a few others I started about 2 months before I joined the forum. I seen the builds and levels members take their project to and decided to give it a shot. Your gto is beautiful, I assume you had similar issues with the chrome and shallow details with the kit? I'm going for a bit of a day two build. I haven't shelved it, waiting on bare metal foil, experimenting with a rubber color(because I've limited myself to craft paints only) made a coil for it in a very sketchy way and actual time at the workbench. 70 hour work weeks right now.
  16. A friend of mine cleaned out a property last summer, ended up taking this cadillac "limousine" for a friend of his. I don't know much about the car, other than it was rough, but seemed to be complete. Still had all the woodwork, drivers partition and the foot stools that stored under the front seat. These are the only 2 pics I have. There was also a Lasalle fire truck on the property.

  17. I had blue Jay's nesting above the garage door at work a few years back, very territorial little blanks. Either scream or dive bomb you at every chance.
  18. Good eye.
  19. Welcome to the forum Derek.
  20. I like where you're going with this. Very nice work on the chassis.
  21. Search came up 69 mercury marquis
  22. Chop look great, just the right amount. How custom are you planning on taking it?
  23. 1987 is right around if not just before the time frame where home restoration and that "side" of the car hobby really took off. There were deals almost everywhere. These almost all start as discarded, used up daily vehicles people no longer wanted or could use. Your great Uncle's car was approaching 30.I was six years old. Fast forward to today, and those same people now have nostalgia, and the means/skills to bring them back. I recall cutting up fairly nice 4 doors and wagons for Floorplans to save coupes in my teens. Very few models of any manufacturer were actually coveted from the start. Those cars today make up the majority of what you see in magazines/car shows and I aftermarket support. I personally like that style of t birds, they look different enough to stand out, and I'm not really a "ford" car guy, I do love their trucks. 1980's and back.
  24. Those were cool cars, but the trade in for the gn was a great choice.
  25. With any vehicle project,I've learned to buy the best condition one you can afford. The "500 dollar deal" isn't so much of one after factor in all the additional work, time and cash to get it to an acceptable state. I deal mostly with motorcycles, its harder to hide the "sins", but people do."basket cases" can seem like a deal till you realize half the engine is rust, missing, or beyond saving. I've rebuilt 5-6 amf era harley sportsters, and the value is quickly exceeded by the cost if one is not careful, or able to do the work yourself.
