  1. I think the product you're talking about is U-POL Clear #1. It's sold in automotive paint stores. It's in a tall orange aerosol can. It does cost around $20 a can. I've used it a couple of times, It goes on nice in light coats. It dries to a pretty hard gloss finish. One word of caution, let each coat dry for a half hour. If you load up too much paint the previous coat can gas off and cause bubbles in the finish, and it's hard to strip. I agree using a 2 part automotive clear with an airbrush is the way to go,you have better control.
  2. Cool idea, very different. Looking forward to see how it comes out.
  3. Just to be able to spend some time with my son.
  4. "Welcome to the dark side... Now you will never go back to the big ones..." Gregg, I just completed my fisrt 1/43 kit, a Provence Moulage 1952 Aston Martin DBS3. A member of our club said the same exact thing when he challenged a couple of us to build a 1/43 kit. I and a couple of my friends have bought several more kits, they are fun and different to build. I'm looking to add even more 1/43 scale kits to my stash.
  5. I have ordered stuff from Norm. His products are top quality and I will order more from him in the future. Order a catalog and start making a list.
  6. I think all of the reissues are great, I want to get the Orange Crate myself. The only complaint I have are the rear lights on the Chevelle, I think they should retool and replace them with the stock ones.
  7. I watched the race, I'm a big fan of open wheel racing. But I can't get used to the new Speed Racer design of the cars.

Nice job. I've always liked that kit, ever since I built it when was first released. (40 plus yrs. ago) what brand/color paint did you use?
  9. 12 plus hours of racing, that's a great way to spend a day. My wife doesn't agree, thank goodness for DVR's. (won't miss any of it.) A few years back on Memorial Day weekend, racing on TV was even better. I was able to watch F1,Indycar,NASCAR,NHRA and WRC all in the same day. (16 hrs. of racing total).
  10. I've had my Badger 200 for over 30 yrs. ,great airbrush. I just bought a Paasche H single action (with 3 different tips) for $45 with a 40% off coupon from Hobby Lobby.
  11. I used one for years, it's the best gun for shooting anything. Metallics,Pearls,Candies,Urethanes,Lacquers and Enamels. It's often referred to as a "paint hog" because everyone now uses HVLP's. I would buy it, it's a very reliable spray gun.
  12. I bought the Xacto 9"x12" gray self healing mat. I like it and it's just big enough.
  13. I bought one of those battery powered mixers from MicroMark for $9, it mixes up settled paint quickly. You can even get around the bottom of the bottle with the little propeller. It's a lot quicker then shaking, it only has one quirk....make sure it has stopped before taking it out of the bottle. If not, make sure you're wearing old clothes.
  14. A new 2012 Honda Accord SE. I wasn't planning on buying a new car,but a couple of weeks ago a lady tried to go through the intersection I already occupied. We weren't moving very fast but it was enough to total my 97 Crown Vic.
  15. Another thing to consider is the ripple affect on everything else you consume. The one thing I notice the most is the price of groceries, I can really notice the difference week to week. And food is just the tip of the iceberg.
  16. Some of my wife's relatives live in England, and I always hear how good we have it. Maybe that's why there is so many expats from Britain living here.We do have it good but I'm tired of hearing it. I'm not happy with the oil companies or any of the useless politicians in this country. The oil companies are greedy and the politicians all the way up to the top are idiots who only care about getting reelected. I believe we should use our own resources and tell the middle east to pound sand. I feel better now that I ranted.
  17. Beautiful work. Paint and detail are outstanding.
  18. Does anyone know when the 62 Vette,57 Fairlane, and 50 Olds might be released?
  19. I have that kit, it's an old build. It's in pieces and I'm missing the big block, although it could be in a parts box somewhere. It is still unpainted in it's original metallic blue plastic. My opinion, build it. Or send it to me and I'll build it.
  20. My two favorite cars are the 58 Impala and the 63 SplitWindow Corvette. Here I'm 58 Impala and on another forum my screen name is 63 SplitWindow.
  21. Going with my wife when she goes to the local beauty supply store, they have a big selection of nail polishes in pearls and metallics I can't get at my LHS. I get some strange looks until my wife explains why I'm comparing different shades of certain colors. They also have a good selection of emery boards in all different grit for less than a dollar each.
  22. I thought about buying the 3n1 kit, but my LHS had it for $34.99. A little too steep,I'll pass.
  23. I got one of those cool red ones and traded with a club member for a white one. I didn't feel like working with the clear red plastic.
  24. Just watched the 125's,looking forward to Sundays race. Boy did Danica hit the wall hard in the first race. She's pretty tough, she walked away on her own.
  25. I'm the same way, there are some details you just have to add. I think there should be a class called Semi Box Stock. Maybe it would limit you to any 5 details.
