I've tried a couple different sources, but I can't find any cotton gloves that fit (need XL size). They all seem to be for people with small hands. Is there somewhere that has different sizes?

Just picked one up last weekend at my LHS, very nice kit. Quite a few custom parts, and the best printed whitewalls I've seen in any kit. I'll probably build it with the fadeaway fenders. I'll have to buy another one, I want to build the coupe also.

Pretty cool looking for the most part. I'd change a few things like the wheels and the exhaust. -
IPMS model contest eureka mo was a joke!
58 Impala replied to 71drolds's topic in Contests and Shows
Our car model club paticipates in two local IPMS shows, the Orlando chapter and the SpaceCoast chapter. We really enjoy the shows and the phenominal quality of all the models. We as a car model club are asked to do the car model judging for the local chapter. We use the same judging rules as with our own shows. We judge both the top and the bottom of the models, but we give the entrants the option of not having their models handled. If they choose that option and there is another model in close competition with theirs, then they may not win their category. We look at the models and if they are close in initially quality we have to examine them further which includes the underside. -
Where were you, or have you forgotten?
58 Impala replied to highway's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm watching the memorial services. Every time I see those horrific images, I get the same terrible pit in my stomach. I'll never forget that day or all the people who lost their lives. -
I like the fade aways, some of the best customizers of the 40's and 50's did nice work. I think the kit would look much better if it were lowered properly.

Best place to buy Tamiya Spray paint
58 Impala replied to Prostreet's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tamiya should just sell California their acrylic paints and leave the good paint for the rest of us. California can be a pain when it comes to stuff like this, next thing you know they'll ban crayola watercolors. -
It's about time
58 Impala replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think that looks pretty good, I'd have one in my garage....with a Hemi of course. -
Very nice job. It's nice to see rare old plastic brought back to life.

Very nice job. I have the same kit, still in it's molded metallic blue plastic. It is in pieces (missing a few), one of the few remaining kits I bought as a kid. I plan on restoring it in the near future.
-
I'm currently working on the same kit, yours makes me think about putting mine back in the box, Very nice job.

You can close your eyes and imagine the builds if you want to. I'll post pictures for the rest of us as soon as I get the disc from one of the other club members.

My family used to live near Danbury Conn. I have been in their main store in the Danbury Mall. I was like a kid in a big candy store with no money. Fantastic stuff. So many diecasts, definitely not enough money.

Urethane Clears High or Medium solids?
58 Impala replied to Len Woodruff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Medium or high solid clears shouldn't make any difference, the amount and type(slow, medium,or fast) of reducer might have to change so it will flow. -
Don'tcha just hate it when.............
58 Impala replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You're working real hard to make headway on a project for an upcoming show. And you lose a very important engine part(exhaust manifold)and cannot find it anywhere. Worst yet it is a RoG kit part that if the kit is still in production would take 12 WEEKS to get a replacement. I had to fabricate one, came out pretty good but took a few hours. Well maybe it will be finished for a future show, not enough time to finish it for this one (too many details not enough time). -
Just bumping the thread. 1 week till the show, hope to see some of you there.

Hey Jim. The main part of the show is Saturday. We count all the ballots and judge the two special categories and determine the winners as well as photograph them for the placques. The awards are handed out sunday,if you are a winner and cannot be there we will send it to you. You can take your models with you when you leave, just let us know so if you do win a category we can photo your model and make sure we have your address. Hope to see you at the show.

I've customized, detailed and painted HotWheels and Matchbox cars in the past. I agree with Ed about older eyes, you need some good magnifiers (for us older folks)to see some of the smaller detail. I enjoy messing with the smaller scale cars occasionally, but this magazine rarely gives any plastic project or how-to that many pages.
