  1. Great to see an old build see the light of day. I remember that kit from the 80s. It would be nice to see it reissued
  2. I went over to airbrushing everything decades ago. I use automotive primers/ clearcoats and Zero colors or decanted Tamiya rattle can colors. I could write a book about the issues cans have caused me. I've always looked on the rattle can as the devils own, just waiting to poke me in the eye. I must say though, I am impressed at the paint jobs some of the members here are turning out using rattlle cans.
  3. Wheels rims are Detail master billet and the centers are Replicas & Miniatures GT350R mag insert #RM85C. I had had these in my part box for years. I've recently tried to buy more sets but i think they are both no longer available. Replicas and Miniatures does market the same rims as a complete resin piece under #R11. All four have the same offset.
  4. Thats come out very nice. The sort of 40 you would see tearing up the streets back in the day
  5. Thats looking very nice.
  6. I'd go street or rally. I had a 1600 Sport back in the day but the RS2000 was never made available out here. It would have been something special.
  7. This is a very impressive build. Can't wait to see it finished
  8. That is clever. I've been mucking about on my lathe machining tire holders out of plastic rod. Your idea is so simple and easily adjustable for different sized tires. Great stuff. Thanks for sharing.
  9. Thanks for posting this tutorial Zac. Its very easy to follow and inspirational.
  10. Thanks for the comments guys. To answer the questions the grille came from Model Car Garage- 32 Ford Spider Web Grill detail set #2211 and the steering wheel is from Detail Master- Inferno Skull # DM 3122. Paint is Tamiya Gloss Aluminum TS17
  11. Thanks for the build review. I have added this one to my must have list.
  12. I had a closer look at my old and new release versions last night and as Dave has said I found there has been some fettling of the molds on the new version mainly to the front A arms and a companion notch in the chassis. There may be more as I only did a curiosity check. Old version to the left.
  13. Nice builds Dr Cranky. They will serve as inspiration when i build the soon to be released Pittman version
  14. That is what I'm expecting from what has been said. We will find out for sure when its released later this month.
  15. It looks like Donns' videos paid for themselves in the improvement you can see in your paint job. Black is one of the hardest colors to master as it shows everything. I've got Donns' Video as well and they are well worth the price of admission
  16. Actually the instructions are something else that is different between the original and the later issue. The old sheet is replaced with a booklet that is far clearer
  17. Thanks Dave. No doubt I'll find out when they go on to the work bench.
  18. Those pictures are clear enough to see you've turned out a clean build of a nice kit.
  19. I've got two of these kits. My original kit bought when they were first released has Charlotte on the box and the Mecom Racing version has Concorde. Apart from the decals, photo etch fret and bonnet, my Mecom car is the same as the original issue. One other thing is the Mecom car has no name tires. Can some one tell me what mods were made to the Concorde kit so that the kits go together better ?
  20. This is my idea of a 32 Ford lowboy that was inspired by an article Pat Covert wrote in the Feb 98 issue of that other mag. I pretty much followed Pats instructions for the build and added some touches of my own to personalize it.
  21. That is a custom alright. I like the way its heading
  22. Replicas & Miniatures make a very nice four barrel Holley described by them as 'similar to Holley 780' #P-10. Its got a vacuum secondary so may not be suitable if you were after a double pumper
  23. I agree with Harry. Paint can build up on the tip and will usually spit off at the most inopportune time. Its something to keep an eye out for when spraying and I keep a Q tip soaked in thinner handy to wipe the tip if i see any build up of paint occurring. I've got 6 air brushes of various brands and they can all do it maybe due to the thinning ratio/ air pressure/ moons not aligned or what ever.
  24. Thanks for the link. They are excellent reference shots
