  1. Interesting project, and nice work. This should make for a good looking Vette.
  2. Cheers Ken, that's good to know. Even the regular price is the best I've seen locally.
  3. That colour will look great on the Impala.
  4. Very impressive. It's good to see thinking in the right direction.
  5. The 1995 reissue. As Mark has said, no chrome grill in the kit in, and the one that's there is not stock.
  6. It's good to get your take on this, Bob. As mentioned, I am quite interested to see how well this works. Your endorsement means a lot. I remain somewhat skeptical but ultimately open-minded. I have no doubt they are great on an OOB build. The fit of parts on a painted body will have to be exceptional to remain acceptably clean. Most of my personal concerns regard fine detailing in the areas of windscreen sealant, and the interface between the interior door panel and exterior door panel at the window sill area where I sometimes add all rubber seals, window whiskers, and the slightly exposed top of the retracted side glass. This new method could complicate that process. I am also of the mind that nickel or stainless window trims are best represented by the slightly muted shine of burnished foil rather than brilliant kit chrome. I am also concerned with the potential fragility of the body with those whisper thin A pillars. There is always the option of stripping the chrome and gluing the trim to the body before paint, then foiling afterward. The realism of well prepared and applied foil work on a properly engraved body is hard to beat, providing numerous options to affect a final, authentic appearance. Nonetheless, I am very much looking forward to getting one of these kits and having a go. Just need to source a front clip without the spoiler. I checked the Zoom On site but couldn't find one.
  7. It may change on the lead-up to Christmas, but the Michaels in Dartmouth had none two months ago.
  8. Freaking awesome! Great project and creative construction. I really dig the engine turning. Very nice work.
  9. My sincere condolences. But, this is very cool.
  10. That's too cool. I always preferred Betty, but now I'm not so sure.
  11. Man, Barris built some ugly cars. This is the second ugliest show car ever built, the first being the ZZR. Oh, then there's that Rickshaw thing. That's got to be the worst of them all. Just overbearing and weird.
  12. Beautiful! What a wicked looking race car. You did a great job on this, and hats-off for the decal work.
  13. Oh, that's nice! I don't think I had ever heard of it. edit: Just had a read-up on it. Lovely car. Don't know how it has escaped my attention, but I don't recall ever having seen one. Kind of makes me wonder what else I haven't noticed.
  14. That's like asking "What is my favourite air to breath?".
  15. Safety third! I love it. The world has such a stick up its backside these days, it's good to hear sanctioned, carefree irreverence still takes place somewhere. I hope these events still take place.
  16. Interesting method of rendering the window trims. I'm keen to see how well this works, but at first blush, I'm not a fan. I can see several problems here.
  17. Yes, curious myself. Cool project you've got going here. Nice work so far.
  18. I could never get the second coat to come out nice with the dirty pinecone. Always too lumpy. I'll try harder. I can attest, however, to the abilities of a live squirrel's tail to provide good coverage. A squirrel will sometimes trot into my garage. One managed to dip his tail in a pan of used motor oil. Before he found his way back out of the garage, he had laid down a coat of oil on just about everything in there.
  19. As long as I have been a member of model car forums, it has been a regular source of amusement just how many people genuinely believe this. And yet, if you put a dozen of them in a room and ask them to put their heads together and come up with a list of the five model car subjects most wanted by builders, they would tear each other apart trying to reach a consensus.
  20. That's a sharp looking Mustang, John. These always look great in yellow. Nice work, including the tidy foiling. I feel much the same way about louvers. I used to think they were necessary, but in more recent years I enjoy the clean fastback line. When I built the Monogram 70 Mustang a few years ago, I painted and detailed the louvers for it. But at final assembly I couldn't bring myself to install them, it looked so good without them. I can say this though , in 1:1 they work very well to keep interior temperatures down in the summer. I have a 69 Mach I with black interior, and that big window makes it a hot-house. With the louvers on, the interior temps are much more reasonable.
  21. About seven posts down in this thread, JayMacminn suggests using Tamiya Rubber Black for the tires, then applies Tamiya Oil Stain weathering pastels to the tread area. I haven't tried this myself, just passing along info, but his results look good.
  22. I have been following your build with interest. I missed out on the Scale Coachworks Dart when it was available, but this Bandit body looks good, seems to have a nice shape and proportion. I am thinking of using a Demon to convert one to a Dart. Your build is coming along nicely, the white stripe really wakes it up.
  23. Very nice. That's one sweet little Alfa.
  24. Stellar! Man, that's looking sharp.
