Resin 68-69 charger funnycar body questions
Bainford replied to gtx6970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think that's the right action. In fact, your body and chassis combo looks pretty darn accurate. Looking forward to seeing your work on this one. It's one of my favourite funnies ever. Super cool. I have the same Hot Rod picture you posted above pinned up on the wall above my model bench. -
I missed this one first time around. John, that is a seriously mean match racer. It looks killer. I love it. Your collection of top 60s door slammers must be pretty impressive by now.

MY FAVORITE FUNNY CAR: CAR SHOP INC CAMARO
Bainford replied to DavidChampagne's topic in Drag Racing
I can see why it is your favourite; that is one seriously cool funny car. It's a new one to me, but I sure dig it. Very nice replica of this interesting machine. Way cool. -
Looking good, David. I am quite interested in your project, and in the ICM kits in general. I would like to pick up a couple of their 'T's but haven't done so yet. Nice work on the paint. Your attempt to replicate the factory process lends authenticity to your project, and I believe it shows in the result. Cheers.

What would YOU like to see as a model
Bainford replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just went back and had a look, Stunning car. Interesting wheel covers. Given the meticulous detail of this restoration, I assume they are original. Never seen them on a Swinger before. Looks good. -
What would YOU like to see as a model
Bainford replied to JeroenM3's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm sure it has already been mentioned in these many pages, but this is one model I've wanted to build most ever since my age was counted in single digits; the 70-72 Dart Swinger, and it better have a 4-spd. This is one that solidly falls into the category "I can't believe no one has created a kit of it". However, given our current hobby environment, it wouldn't surprise me if a kit of this car was forthcoming... eventually. From someone. I would really like to see Round2 take it on, though if I had to put money on who would do it, if anyone does, it's Moebius. It is my personal, very humble, and perhaps unpopular opinion that the 340 Swinger was among the meanest muscle cars built. -
Welcome t the forum, Nolan. Some fine model building you've posted. I really dig those period oldies. Very cool. I'm digging those Kawasakis, too. I just recently sold off a KH 400 restoration project that I knew I was never going to finish. Never got to ride it. Just as well I suppose; I'm older now and don't heal as well as I used to. Cheers.

Moisture and humidity are the killers of CA shelf life. Storing CA with a desiccant might just do the trick. It's an interesting suggestion.

Heat Drying Chrome Paints?
Bainford replied to oldcarfan's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I think that result looks pretty good. Broad surfaces are a real test. A nice shine has been achieved, and may look decent on a curvy bumper that is not on a show-car. It is likely that paint will never be as good as plating, certainly nothing that has been on the market so far will do it. Even the very expensive Alsacorp stuff struggles to replicate plated chrome. Alsa doesn't look much better, but it does solve the handling issue. My finger has been hovering over the 'Buy Button' on that stuff for a couple years now, but when I investigate online results I find myself unimpressed. In online demonstrations it doesn't look much better than the results some people on this board are getting with Molotow, Greenstuff, Revell, Alclad, et al., though it is much tougher and easier to work with. I might pull the trigger yet, but would really like to see results in person. There is just too much sales hype in online demonstrations, in the manner of snake oil hustlers. -

Shelby Cobra Daytona

Glad to see this build back on. Everything is looking fantastic. The sliding windows are mind blowing. Very nice work. -
Allan Moffat's 1969 Trans-Am Mustang
Bainford replied to ShawnS's topic in WIP: Other Racing: Road Racing, Land Speed Racers
I'm learning stuff already. Like all Trans-Am Mustangs, the Moffat Mustang is dead cool. That photo of the First Version is just perfect. Great work so far, huge improvements to the engine bay. That looks like a Mustang should. This is going to be cool. I am definitely following along. -
Belly tank racer (3d printed)
Bainford replied to eran_k's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Good looking belly tanker. You really captured the period vibe and simplicity of the 1:1s. Well done. -
'73 Cougar late model
Bainford replied to Volzfan59's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Very cool looking short-tracker. The Cougar body has a nice aggressive look when in race car form. Looks sinister in black. Nice work. -
Fine looking Fiat, Pat. Nice work on this one. Cheers.

It's starting to look like a 330. Looks like it is going to take some work, but you have a great start on it. Looking forward to seeing progress on this.

Nice hack & whack. Definitely has the art deco vibe. The lines are shaping up nicely. What are your plans for headlights? I picture some Cord-esque pop-ups in the front of the fenders, or perhaps integrating the 40 lights into the new design. I'm sure it's coming, but that things needs to hug the ground. Out of pure curiosity, what are the blue fenders from?

Very nice B. Classic colour combo. Looks great in blue. I built one of these a few years ago and quite enjoyed, aside from the windscreen with the molded in frame.
-
Love it!! Very cool Pinto.

That's looking very nice. I'm really digging the look of the red in natural light.
