  1. I paint in a small, segregated area that is really the rear entrance-way into my basement. It has been cleared of everything except my painting gear. Before painting a body I use a spray bottle to mist water on the floor, walls, and ceiling, and even on myself to help control any errant dust or lint. It makes a big difference. A few years ago before I cleared the area of all extraneous junk (even the cat box was in there) I was getting way too much garbage in my paint. I took action and cleared out the space, scrubbed the floor, walls and ceiling and employ my water-misting routine, and now dust is rarely an issue. For about twenty years now I have been planning a proper walk-in paint booth in my model room. I may actually build it one day, but with my dust issues mostly gone, so too has the urgency.
  2. Very interesting, Dave. For times when I need a proper model cement I use Tamiya extra-thin or Model Master black bottle, as appropriate for the job, and have been hoarding my last bottle of the MM. I wouldn't be surprised if the MM and the Testors is the same stuff. If I see one, I'll check it out.
  3. Very nice work, Gerald. Very cool subject, too. Well done on the conversion to full fledge funny car.
  4. Looks tricky. My initial suggestion would be to paint the car gloss black, apply the decals, then shoot the whole thing with the appropriate matt, satin, or semi-gloss clear. The problem, of course, is the colours, which cover the majority of the car, will be non-gloss too. You are right though; painting the car flat black will result in silvered decals.
  5. Looking great, Pierre. Love the colours and the wheels really set off this build. And that driver does bear a passing resemblance to Graham Hill.
  6. A polish and buff should do the trick.
  7. Welcome to the forum, Sunny.
  8. Cheers Ron. The scoop looks perfect on this build. After 50 years of swishing around the parts box, it's great to see it where it belongs. Car looks great. Has a great period look.
  9. Very interested in watching this build come together. I want to do the same conversion to an MPC '74 Cuda. It's looking like a good fit so far.
  10. Man, that's looking good. Paint looks great.
  11. Cool Merc. It's good to see the less common subjects modeled. The Merc looks great as a police cruiser. Nice work.
  12. Welcome to the forum, Ed. Post up a couple of your builds when you get the chance. Cheers.
  13. I'm not sure what it is supposed to be. It seems that once applied and heated, it becomes an adhesive onto which other things can be stuck. I read some Amazon reviews and they say things like this review snippet; This stuff is so amazing! It's basically powdered glue that you use just like "regular" embossing powder but instead of a resist/color/metallic the heat turns this stuff to glue so you can add glitter, mica or foil
  14. Stellar find!! Looking forward to the day this lands on the bench.
  15. Good looking Firebird, Brian. Nice work getting those decals down.
  16. Nice. The dash is fantastic.
  17. I seem to have missed this one, too. Great looking Lotus, Paul. Nice clean work. Very well done.
  18. Great looking McLaren, Rich. One of the last truly good looking F1 cars. Such a clean design compared to the modern monsters. The build may have been a struggle, but you persevered. The colours look just right. I have a Protar 1/24 McLaren and wondered about the correct colours, so I will be taking a tip from you on the red.
  19. Nice work, Rich. I have heard these Revell Camaros can be a bear to put together. You certainly seem to have mastered that. Great looking race car.
  20. Cool Demon. Great period Pro/Stock look.
  21. Good looking stocker, Ron. I really like that shade of blue on this build. Great stance and overall look. Nice work.
  22. Great looking pair of Ferraris. Nice work on the conversions. It's very cool to see a 412 on the forum.
  23. Welcome to the forum, Stu. That's one fine looking Camaro. As you dig into that stash of kits, be sure to post your work for us. Enjoy the forum.
  24. As has been suggested, the potential health issues are reason enough to not use the stuff. But beyond that, personally I think it just doesn't look good. To each his own, this is very much 'eye-of-the-beholder' stuff and I won't knock what others prefer to use, but for my money it does not provide a pleasing look when striving for realism. That's just my view, of course, but I think the incredible shine is anti-realism. With so many great looking, user-friendly clears on the market, I struggle to understand why 2K is so popular in our hobby.
