  1. I have a 2004 Explorer with the 4.0 SOHC engine. 204,000 miles. They are famous for eating cam chain tensioners and guides. The passenger side cam chain is at the rear. Another genius engineering job. I cross my fingers every time I turn the key.
  2. I saw a Rivian (electric) pickup.
  3. Gives that butchy off-roader look??. Aside from scratches or scrapes, has anyone had any luck getting polish or wax residue out of the textured black plastic?
  4. My brother has a 2004 Ram 1500 pickup with the 5.7 engine. Recently the check engine light came on, along with a lightning bolt indicator, which indicates an issue with the throttle position sensor. The truck quit running on the street and would crank but not start. Following advice we replaced the throttle body. Still no start. We discovered that there is a pedal position sensor that is connected to the throttle pedal by a cable and connected to the engine control module. This sensor is no longer carried by Dodge and is difficult to source from a parts store. Mercedes used this sensor on several vehicles and it is available at their dealerships. Unfortunately, while the sensor looks identical, the connector on the sensor is different. We found a sensor that looked fairly new at the local pick-yer-part yard and installed it. After replacing the sensor we finally got the truck to run. All this after several days of head scratching and running around.
  5. My son bought me a dvd/Blue Ray copy of FvF when it first came out. Have watched it a few times. The Extras in the package are really good.
  6. The other day I was following a Challenger. At a red light the driver shut the engine off and put it in park. (I saw the backup lights flash when he put it in park then drive). When the light turned green, he restarted and sped away.
  7. 67 Firebird convertible. Candy apple red.
  8. 66-67 Ranchero front clip, yes. IIRC the Fairlane and Comet 2-door post cars in 66-67 shared wheelbase with the Falcon coupes as well.
  9. A Moebius 64 Nova, Sand Kat and a Chrysler Copperhead promo that LHS had for $5.00 (They had three of them)
  10. The tool was later modified into the "Sweat Hogs" version.
  11. I have sufficient for my needs. Also have resin station wagon and convertible bodies.
  12. I would get one if the put the deep Shelby 10-spoke wheels back in. A few years ago I bought an AMT Cobra chrome tree from the sprue box at the LHS and would like to get some more for a project or two.
  13. 70 Camaro RS. 73 Ford LTD 2-door.
  14. That's the "be the first one on the block to get one" fee. Usually happens with any new model that is in high demand. I remember when the Datsun 240Z first came out. Most dealers would add a "market adjustment", along with "mandatory equipment" like aftermarket wheels, vinyl stripes, bumper guard bars, luggage racks etc. I remember seeing some with dealer-added vinyl roofs. For a while it was almost impossible to get one equipped as it came from the factory.
  15. AMT/MPC 69 Cutlass chassis might work too.
  16. Went to HLL. Deja vu all over again. Walked out with what I walked in with. Just as well, seeing as I paid a deposit for something else that will cost considerably more than a few kits. And make a lot more noise when used. Current issue Revell 77 Trans Am kit i purchased on eBay arrived today.
  17. A lot of Revell kits have those circular seals. Probably "greener" than the shrink wrap.
  18. Fujimi Ferrari GTO kit arrived yesterday from HLJ.
  19. Thanks. I have sufficient Cougar kits now. Probably way too many.
  20. For a long time I would pick up the 69 Cougar XR 7 Street Machine kit at the LHS and look at it, then put it back. Then I got a full-sized 69 Cougar XR 7. Guess what was gone the next time i visited the LHS?
  21. If you believe what people post on most online forums, headlights on most cars available today are totally inadequate. But it's cool to tint the lenses. My son put aftermarket LED headlights on his Chevy Colorado. They're horrible. On the other hand the Hella quartz halogen headlights in my 69 Cougar are incredible.
