  1. a 56 Chevy 2 door post - my first and most favorite car of all time. I wish I had pics to show you. SMB w/4 barrel, station wagon springs in back to raise it up, white headers out the wheelwells, 4 speed. Seats came from a 64 Impala SS with the console. It was painted bristol blue. I'll be keeping an eye on this build.
  2. Coopdad - don't go now! HL is closed on Sunday.
  3. Hopefully everyone has signed up to get the weekly Hobby Lobby ad emailed to them. But if you haven't, next week August 2 - 7, 2010, HL has 30% off plastic and diecast model kits, 30% off airbrushess and compressors, and a 40% off any one item that isn't on sale.
  4. There's a group meets in Ocala. Don Garrett is hoping/planning to do a show at his 1:1 shop in Ocala sometime. If you hear anything about the Pinellas Park thing, please post.
  5. They all look pretty darn good to me.
  6. There's about 6 in a curio cabinet; 2 in their own display cases; 24 in 1 Carney plastic case and 8 in another. In my shop I have an old stereo cabinet with about 16 builds and garage diorama with maybe 15 builds.
  7. Thanks Josh. I'm clean for 5 years now. I'd be the purple.
  8. And there's the DuBro tubing bender too. A pic if it is in Romell's '67 Chevelle hot rod thread. HobbyLinc has it for $7.99.
  9. Way, way, way back, the was the XR-6. It was molded in black plastic as I recall. I think it was a T-bucket with a turtle deck. The cycle fenders were kinda squared off. Had one but it's been gone for a thousand years or more.
  10. You can cut aluminum tubing in a small miter box (I have an X-Acto unit), After cutting, use a small, fine file on the cut portion, then carfully run the file over the edge to remove burrs. Finally, take your Z-Acto knife and clean out the inside of the tube. Works for me every time. I have a Deora screaming to be built. When I do it won't have the slant 6. I think I have a slant 6 in my parts bin too.
  11. Couldn't you use aluminum tubing for the exhaust tips? I do and just polish them. They look almost chrome.
  12. Taa Daa. My airbrush was delivered today. I ordered a Paasche H-Set, extra cover cap, and a qiuck disconnect from Chicago Airbrush. Theys ent me an HS-Set but the cover for an H. I talked with them and they're going to send me the HS cover cap. Very cool - the HS was a few dollars more than the H. In the near future I expect to be posting my Badger 200 with extra glass jars, caps, quick disconnect, 10' braided hose, extra cover gaskets and siphon hoses. The bad part is that I have to cook at the VFW tonight and go for some surgery tomorrow. I'll probably have to use Friday to recuperate so I won't get a chance to play with the new airbrush until Sunday or Monday.
  13. You pick waht you want from the site and then send Alan an email to order. Great tires!
  14. I usually paint the bottom first and then the top. I've also glued on the kit hood hinges and then clamped onto the hinge and painted both sides at the same time.
  15. I was following along your progress, Romell. You completed build is just awesome! I had no idea such detail could be done to 1/25 scale model. Your Chevelle is inspiring.
  16. Some of you guys are very strange and some of you are really funny. I post because there doesn't seem to be many shows down here and the forum gives me an opportunity to share my builds. Sometimes I'm able to share some of my knowledge with another builder and hopefully help them. So many of the posts and questions I've asked have helped me build better models. I post comments because I figure that's what's expected. Why put a build out there if you ddon't get comments back? The only comments I get here are from my wife "How can a 62 year old man play with model cars every day?" (The easy answer is that I can).
  17. Welcome to the best model car forum around, Tom. There always lots of great stuff happening here - builds, tips, completed kits, and some really top notch builders.
  18. Not a problem, Romell. Glad to be able to help you after all the inspiration I've recieved from your '67 Chevelle hot rod. Next time I go to Ocala I'm going to check if my LHS has one at a reasonable price. I would imagine you could use the bender on solder too.
  19. The way you take pics makes it look like a real car. Love the blue paint. What did you do - paint the car black and then shoot the candy over that?
  20. I don't like rusty stuff or rat stuff, but I think you really nailed the junker look with your build. Very realistic and I'm glad I looked.
  21. The DuBro tubing bender is available online at several places and comes in 1/8" and 5/32" sizes. Hobbylinc has them for about $8.00 plus shipping of about $5.00 (to FLA).
  22. I like the blue dot treatment and how you have the sideglass posed. Pretty neat build.
  23. Pretty neat build, Jared. Very interesting to watch it coming along.
