'03-'04 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Conversion or Parts?
Eric Stone replied to Casey's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure so that's why I said 'similar hood'. Since I posted that, I've been seeing quite a few V6's on the road with their own V6 hood, not the 99 Cobra hood... -
Dupli-Color on sale

I picked some up too... Gray and white, because they only had one gray left. I'm also thinking about going to grab some red oxide and some black. -
Looks good!

Newbie looking for parts

The 93 Cobra kit is nicer than the 88 GT kit anyway, IMO. The DragLites are out there- I'm not sure what older ProStock kits might have them, but they're available in resin as well, I just don't know where off the top of my head. -

Welcome! Which kit are you starting with? What kind of wheels? How big a cowl hood? How many more questions can I come up with? There are a handfull of enthusiastic Fox body nerds around here including myself that are happy to help. I'd love to build a replica of my '91, but scratchbuilding the front valence doesn't look easy..... -
One area that's hard to find pics of is under the body. Anything to do with exhaust is good- Aftermarket exhaust system installs covered in forums or magazines will usually come with photos to accompany the information and that'll give you reference as to what color primer was used, and how the overspray patterns go. Very handy sometimes...

That would be the best cop- He can't issue me a ticket if he can't stop his vehicle!

Here's one from CJ Pony Parts. Not much better than the one you have, but at a better angle. http://www.cjponyparts.com/1979-1982-hood-emblem/p/EMH5/ Here's a better one from Late Model Restoration. http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/Product/Images/LRS-16850A Here's one from FoxMustangRestoration that isn't watermarked, but it's a small image... http://www.foxresto.com/products/view/752/1979_82_Hood_Insert_Emblem_NOS Hope this helps...

I used to cringe when I saw a cop in my rear view, but now I cringe when I see a Toyota...

Somebody recently posted on the thread he had on here wondering the same thing. Somebody in on the beginning of that thread claimed to know him well I think. Maybe you can find the thread and PM him or the guy who knows him.

'03-'04 Ford Mustang Mach 1 Conversion or Parts?

It's quite possible that 03 is pushing 500 hp... Exhaust, a chip or programmer, blower and crank pulleys for more boost... They're impressive cars. It's also quite possible the owner padded his numbers to impress you... Who knows? The 99 Cobra kit does have a wing. The early New Edge wings were moved farther forward on the trunk lid than the later, but I'm not sure what year they changed them. The ducktail wing was only on the 03-04 Cobras. The kit also has the correct Cobra wheels- it's just the box art that's wrong. From what I've looked at, it's a fairly accurate kit, and even has clear tallight lenses so you can accurately paint the amber turn signals that made those tails 99-Cobra-only pieces. For making a V6, you're off to a decent start, since the 99 Cobra only says "Mustang" on the rear bumper cover, and has a similar hood to the V6 cars. -

Were these problems fixed by the time the 01 Cobras came along? -
That's very nice, Paul- The shading is much better than anything I've ever done. Here are a couple of my favs. They're not scanned, just photo'd, and not very well...

I'm not sure what's so "unloved" about the '99 Cobra, unless you're referring to the lack of resin parts for the kits to convert them to other cars... I see 1:1s on the road occasionally, and they're always in good shape, taken care of. A good friend of mine has one, and I plan on building his with the kit I have. I agree, an 03-04 Cobra, 01 Bullitt (hey, Revell has the McQueen estate on board now), 03-04 Mach 1, 00 Cobra R, and any 99-04 GT would be welcomed additions to the modeling world. Interesting thing about the box art car is that it has GT wheels, but the box sides show the correct Cobra wheels that are also included in the kit. -
Plus, if it's your photo you're tracing, then it's kinda like transferring your work from one media to another. I still prefer to do (and have more respect for) drawings that are done freehand. Thanks, noname!

Those look like the later Lightning wheels, which I don't think I've ever seen in scale. The Revell '99 Lightning kit has different wheels in it.

What's a good source for....
Eric Stone replied to Ben's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Find an old 90's AMT Nascar Thunderbird kit. It should have the Cleveland and 9" you're looking for, and they can be found for cheap. -
Nice! Very clean build. I like it! Who made the body?

Thanks, I thought those were different tires... I might have to find one of those Supras for the tires. The tread on the Revell 05 Mustang tires looks cool, like KDW's, but the sidewalls are too tall.
