I had a similar thought, only with a roadster.

Fox Chassis (Ford) community build anyone?
Eric Stone replied to whale392's topic in Community Builds
Sounds like a great project, Greg. I like the Maximum stuff (have tubular LCAs, caster/camber plates, and subframe connectors on my 1:1) and have wanted to do some in scale on something. I'd like to build a Comp Prep SVO, although I'm not sure exactly how the exhaust is set up, since they had dual exhaust in the rear. I sure wish the SVO kit's rear wing was correct. That'll have to be fixed when I do mine... -
Fox Chassis (Ford) community build anyone?
Eric Stone replied to whale392's topic in Community Builds
I have an SVO with a warped roof.... One of these days I'll straighten it out and build it. It's red too... -
Very nice! Any engine shots, or is that a curbside kit?

16.5" Ford XLT Wheel Covers.

Sweet! Nice find. -
I hate to bring up the 'R' word, but were there rules governing the specs and construction of these types of planes, or was it pretty much unlimited? If that's a dumb question, forgive me since I'm not all that familiar with them. Would we be looking at a certain time period for these planes to have competed in (say, 1945-60 or so, when surplus planes were around and newer prop driven aerobatic planes hadn't arrived yet)..? Am I thinking too much about this?? The idea is intriguing... I have a terrible little 1/72 P-51 kit that came from a dollar store for $1 that has been hiding in the bottom of a plastic organizing cabinet for years. It might be good for this- something to chop up and throw some paint on just for kicks.

Painting on the sprue
Eric Stone replied to MILD's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm always tempted to paint on the sprue, but that doesn't allow me to properly take care of flash and mold lines, so it ends up being more effort than it's worth to paint, cut off, clean up, remove mold lines, and touch up paint. I use lots of masking tape stuck to clothes pins, and I usually paint long block engine assemblies as a unit while leaving the transmission bare, or a small wire engine stand that sticks in the back of the transmission. -
16.5" Ford XLT Wheel Covers.
Eric Stone replied to Chuck Most's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thought I had something here... These wheels are on a TootsieToy '57 Chevy. They measure out to exactly 16.5" in 1/24 scale. They have 16 holes, and are 6-lug. I remembered this thread, and went searching for it... I find the thread and re-read it just to find out (again) that the 1:1 is 8-lug, and has 24 holes in the wheels... Oh well. Here are some pics of the source of these wheels, in case anyone wants to try to use some on a model. They'd need some work to fit a model, probably just need to be cut down to take the width off the back side of them. -
Also, when/if you explain the rollbar padding, can you also explain how you made the lettering on the rear tires look so realistic?

Modeling over for a while :(
Eric Stone replied to Deckerz's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Jeez, that's lame. Some people take sporting events WAAAYYYY too seriously. That's sad... Hope you're able to mend quickly and get on with things. -
Interesting commercial vehicle

No love for those who died in Korea..? -
garage sale find

Good score! And you made those people's day by taking away all that 'junk' they were dreading having to move or throw out... Win, win! -
Yup, just a few miles from me too, although now they're Gay Buick GMC, and I think there's a Kia dealership over there now too. Gotta pay the bills somehow. I went in there one day a few years ago, and they have some memorabilia in there, like photos and a couple of driving suits and helmets. No vintage racecars though, at least not then. Your build looks great, as I've come to expect when opening one of your threads.

That looks pretty close to Carousel Red, an actual GTO color... Nice save(s)!

After seeing their nice S197 Mustang series (GT, GT500, GTH, Bullitt), I have a feeling they'll go ahead with the 2010 Mustang, then tool up a new Coyote engine and slap a 5.0 badge on the body and release a 2011 or 2012 Mustang, then we'll have both.
-
Same here... Got it at Hobby Lobby for ~$10.
-
It's a lot easier to add a second set of wheels/tires and some decals than it is to tool up an all new car... My guess is that's all the '02 Camaro 2n1 will be, but I could be wrong.

Is this the Revell kit? I just got one, kinda anxious to build it. I'm not a Japanese car fan, but I do kinda like the WRX's... Not a bad looking build at all. I didn't even notice the booboo in the paint until you said something about it. Hush next time.

I second that. The AMT Monte is nice.
-
Ah, ok. Just wondering because I noticed a few little things missing. It'll look good when it's all buttoned up and done. I think I like the Monte better though- it seems a little more natural done up as a pro street than the Mustang. Sucks that it was damaged...
-
Is it done?
-
LOL Well, it was her decision to split, but that turned out to be a real good thing. Sure wish I could drive the car again though... And then there was the girl with the supercharged 07 Mustang GT/CS... That one didn't work out well either. Glad my current girl doesn't have a Mustang.

I believe you need the instructions if you enter a model in Box Stock, but not any other category. I like to use a small mirror on the table under the car to show off the bottom. I also use a small piece of guitar string to use as a hood prop. That's about it here, nothing fancy. Others might have more ideas.

I'm not affiliated with the HAMS club (Houston Automotive Modelers Society), but their contest is coming up, and I haven't seen anybody post anything about it. I plan on going, and would like to see some of you Texas and Louisiana folks there (or anybody else willing to make the trip). http://www.ipmshams.com/theshow.html Anybody else planning on going should post in this thread.
