  1. ...Because the aluminum tubing ones don't look like distributors, they look like a bundle of wires coming out of a tube. (IMHO)
  2. I don't think it would have the same visual "gotcha" as rusted through fenders done with paint and plastic- Just some oxidized paint over some carbon fiber...
  3. Pics don't do it justice. I hope to see it in person in April!
  4. I don't think it would be too hard- Use some square styrene rod or tubing, or file some round scrap sprue into a square shape, and build the receiver hitch to match the frame. Use another small piece of square for the hitch itself, add the drop portion of it here if you're building one for that big Ford. Glue a small flat piece onto the back of it where the ball will go. Carve a ball out of some sprue, and file a piece of round into a hex for the large nut that holds the ball to the hitch. Add a thin slice of round in the correct diameter to the bottom of the nut to simulate the little bit of thread sticking out of the bottom of the nut. Google pics to use for reference, or look at 1:1 examples in person.
  5. What scales are we most likely to see on this board? 1/43, 1/32, 1/25, 1/24, 1/20, 1/16, 1/12, 1/8, and possibly 1/6 and 1/4 engines..? Does anybody build HO (1/87), or any near Hot Wheels scale (1/64, 1/72)? There may be a stray 1/35 piece that's car-like enough to end up on here from time to time... I'd lean toward 1/20 being big scale, just because there are so many small-to-normal scales represented in the main forum, but the caption to the Big Boyz section does say, "Anything to do with big scale models: 1/8, 1/12, or 1/16".
  6. That looks really good! Nice clean build. Any engine shots? That one reminds me of a red 4x4 stepside that runs around here, '55 or '56 I think.
  7. The AMT Firebird GTA (~1991) also has an odd looking twin turbo setup going into a 4-barrel similar to that.
  8. Sounds like too much effort to me- I assume you gotta remove the existing lugnuts from the kit supplied wheels, clean up and finish your freshly made holes, then add these somehow, and they'll end up deep in the hole on the wheel anyway...
  9. Valve cover is upside-down, otherwise the engine looks good so far. The paint on the body looks pretty good.
  10. That looks pretty cool. A buddy of mine had an 81 non-turbo in High School for a little while. His was a piece though... lol You using the six for it? It would be cool with a SBF, SBC, LSX, or ModMotor swap.
  11. That's hilarious! I'll have to remember that line next time somebody calls one of my cars a "highly visual ground target."
  12. Just wondering how all the BS came to be posted everywhere if he wasn't logged in... Sounds funny to me.
  13. Looks good! I'm actively looking for one of these. Great looking car, and you did a good job on it.
  14. Say that five times fast! That's very cool. There doesn't seem to be any bow in that at all- Looks very sturdy.
  15. Hmmm Thanks for pointing that out. You just made some more work for me when I actually get a Capri kit to do... lol I have the McLaren Mustang, which looks like the same body with a different nose on it, and its flares are ALL wrong. I haven't decided if I'm going to build it as-is, or if I feel like tackling the bodywork.
  16. It was the 40's and 50's... everything really was that clean. :D
  17. Sooo... What happened?
  18. The interwebz is a small world, eh? I've been looking for a Capri kit, but haven't found a complete affordable one yet. I've also started getting ahold of a handfull of early Fox kits, and am starting a few more builds.
  19. I recognize those pics... You sent those to me on FoxBodyForum a while back, right? The engine looks great. I'll be following this build.
  20. I would if I were building it. Good to see somebody building their own though.
  21. The supercharger on the Strada Sports site looks to be a Saleen blower. It's only intended for the 4.6L 3-valve engine in the 05 Mustang kit, although I don't know how easy or hard, or how prototypically correct it would be to adapt it to a Shelby 5.4L 4-valve or a Lightning 5.4L 2-valve engine. There's a Vortech (or similar centrifugal) blower in the Revell '98 Saleen Speedster kit, but its detail is so-so.
  22. I guess the pattern on it is too small to try to do with silver leaf and some thin grayish color over it... Sounds to me like everyone's on the right track with experimenting with metalizers. Don't wanna overdo it though. I'm looking forward to seeing how you end up doing it.
  23. Got a pic? The galvanized stuff I'm familiar with is the whitish silver colored stuff that's a little rough. For that, I'd try mixing colors and then playing with the airbrush settings to get the right texture. I remember a lot of the galvanized stuff having a gritty texture.
  24. Got these from the S.W.A.M.P. CALMEX show on Saturday. The Turbo Cobra was $10.00, the Snake Bite was $10.00, and the '89 Convertible was $7.50. Got these on eBay the other day for a grand total of $33 shipped.
