I finished this one last night just in time for our club meeting next Saturday. I built it out of the box, pretty much per the directions. The paint I used was Tamiya Chrome Yellow Lacquer out of the spray can, which is a little more intense than the factory color, but I liked it better. Testors has a Daytona Yellow, which is closer to the Chevrolet Yellow color. I painted the wheels with dark aluminum paint which closely matches the gray finished wheels. The engine detail is pretty good, but in photographing it, I have to make an adjustment in the headlamps and vents next to the grille, as they stick out too far.. All in all, I think it is a nice kit, per my review.

1968 Shelby Green Hornet-----Update! 8/4/18

That looks great Bill!!!! -
Ken, That is some nice work. My Grandpa and my Mom both had '60 Mercs at various times in my life, so I am familiar with the car. I have a Hardtop and a Convertible to do. One of these days. Both of them were rather chewed up when I got them, but now they are cleaned up, and now both of them are in primer, and awaiting their turn. I love what you are doing.

Anybody convert a Revell 67 Camaro to a Convertible?
Ron Hamilton replied to Len Woodruff's topic in WIP: Model Cars
That is very nice work. I still have an original AMT '67 to work over. It is in bits and pieces, but I should be able to make it work. I want to do a Pace car with it. -
Fantastic work, and a marvelous concept!!!

Playing With Thunderbirds
Ron Hamilton replied to Harold's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
My sister has a Dark Red '88 Thunderbird Sport with a 5.0 in it, which was a very nice car. It needs a paint job, and has a little road rash on it, but it could be made into a nice car, as it is all there, and is under cover. I have a Monogram '88 Turbo Coupe kit, that can be the basis of a build of the car. Ill have to fab the grille, and wheels, and procure a F.I. 5.0/ AOD from the period. Maybe one day. -
just a little 'ol GMC

I'd bet that the driver's seat doesn't smell too good after that stunt. And it's a 2WD too!!! -
It looks magnificent to me.

Now that is slick!!!!

That is one handsome model. It took me a while, bit I finally got my hands on one. It will be a long time before I get it built as I have a long line of projects ahead of it.

When I went to look at the cars at the dealership, they had a base model coupe in Red Hot, with Black Cloth that looked quite good, and represented the car well. I would love to see your build. I hope to have mine finished in time for our model club meeting next Saturday.

Now this one is going to be interesting. I am a Cadillac nut, having built quite, a few, and having several in the queue to be finished. I have included photos of kits that could be used to do the car. Looking at the black and white photo that Ron Gross posted, the main body is a '65-66 Deville Convertible , but in the color photos, one side shows a '67-8 Sedan De Ville, and the other side a '67-8 Coupe de Ville, with the sail panels and doors from each, the hood from a '71-6 Eldorado , the left rear fender tip from a '67-8 Eldorado , The left front fender and left rear bumper tip from a '63-4 right side bumper tip, the trunk and right fender from a '63 De Ville (no pics). The rest of the car seems to be from mid 50's Cadillacs, and other custom parts. An exact replica of this one would be truly time and labor intensive, and truly expensive, but the way you are approaching it will give the essence of the real car, and could be quite interesting. Go for it!!!

No pics yet, but I got it painted. It's drying now. The seat trim on the interior is quite faint, so I did not use a primer coat, just paint, which is Testor's Flat Black lacquer, which seems to be working. The interior is going to be black, but the exterior color is going to be a surprise. One hint, it is not the Dark Red pearl, which while nice, I did not want anyone confusing my build with the moulded in color kit.

The 50th anniversary is a nice car, but I would rather have a ZR1 myself, or a Convertible. If the 50th anniversary is done, a set of decals for the 2016 Indy Pace car should be done too.

Bill, I am glad that is coming along so nicely. I too have a '60 Lincoln to restore. Mine is going to be Black, with the Black and white interior, as I too found a picture of a restored one at a show. Keep it up.!!!!

1972 Ford Torino decals

I bought a set of them years ago off of the 'Bay for mine. Where I got them from, I could not tell you. I am going to combine a body with the Starsky and Hutch Kit for a more detailed build. -
Thanks for the comments Mike. I would like to see your finished model. I have prepped the kit and it is ready for primer and paint. With any kind of luck, I should have it primed and painted by weeks end.

Let's See Some Glue Bombs!
Ron Hamilton replied to Snake45's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Dave, I am waiting to see both of these finished. My 60 was not as bad as those two but my '62 Corvair was as bad if not worse. It had the custom front and rear clips glued and puttied on, and a Testor's Copper paint job form the '60's. It took quite a bit of sanding and polishing to get it to this state. Now I have 4 early '60's Corvairs to do. I may just do them all at one time to display them together.. My '64 is not a glue-bomb, just needs painting detailing, and re-assembly. -
