To me, it was not too difficult, but the cuts on the body have to be precise, and there is a little scratch building involved. The hardest part was joining the JoHan package shelf to the Revell interior floor and sides, Also, the Johan rear bumper must be used, as the Revell bumper is too wide, No, it is basically a mish-mash of the Revell kit, and the roof section and rear bumper from the JoHan kit.

After several attempts, I was able to photograph my finished build of a 1972 Olds 442 2 Door Hardtop. I built this one based on a photo I saw in Muscle Car Review Magazine, even though I did not realize it, My build is a little different form the one-to-one, in that I installed a set of Missing Link Resin's Olds Dog Dish Caps, mounted on a set of parts box steelies. I used a set of Scabo Scale Uniroyal Tiger Paw Tire Transfers on the kit tires, which is correct for this car. The paint is Tamiya Bright Green Metallic, which is a close match for Oldsmobile's "Radiant Green", and the 4-speed manual transmission. The one to one had Olds "Super Stock" wheels and an automatic transmission. I also recreated the 442 Hardtop interior, using various pieces of plastic strip, with the much better detailed Revell interior set up as the base. I really enjoyed building this one, but I am willing to bet that Revell will bring this one out as a kit in the near future. Tommy Olson and Me beat them to the punch. Would you believe that I have yet to build this kit straight from the box as a 1972 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible, or as a Hurst Olds Convertible? I did one as a '71 Olds 442 Convertible and as a 1972 Hurst Olds Hardtop

I was able to get some photos of the build over the weekend. I am going to post them Under Glass. -
1969 Dodge Coronet R/T, 10/17, So Close I Can Taste It!!
Ron Hamilton replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
You are absolutely right Mike. When MPC originally tooled up the '68 Coronet R/T, the "Power Bulge" hood was the only game in town on the model in the one to one world with either the 440 Magnum, or the 426 Hemi. When MPC created their model kit, the Hemi was the engine included, and it was correct for the application. While it was quite possible that Dodge built a few Hemi equipped Coronet R/T cars with the Power Bulge, a huge majority of them came out of the factory with the "Ramcharger" ram air set up, and that is what was listed as standard equipment on the car. The MPC '69 Coronet R/T kit as equipped with the power bulge may not necessarily be incorrect, but maybe as an early production car. When I was a kid, I had a '69 Coronet R/T kit which I built. I wish I had that one back, but I built one a few years ago, and I am quite happy with it. -

But of course you do, because it was not officially offered from the factory in that configuration. But on the street, WOW!!!!! -

There was a fellow in the neighborhood who had a '70 Coronet R/T with the 440 Six Pack option. It had the Ramcharger hood with the ram air package, which was also available on the '69. While I did mine as a 440 Magmum with the track pak option, it could be possible to combine the six pack manifold, with the Ramcharger hood, as a factory test mule, or a "dealer installed" item sanctioned by the factory. Just a possibility. Back ok in the day, Dodge had some wild sleeper cars roaming the street. -
Very nice!!!!!!

Beautiful build Raoul. Like bill stated, I too have collected the same parts to do one of those. I was also able to get enough scraps together to build a 1/20 scale '68. and '69 AMX. I built one of those when was in Elementary school, as I used some of my newsboy money to buy the kit from the neighborhood Rambler dealership which was a block from my school.

Thanks for the Pics Chuck. I noticed that there was no rear seat. Did I miss that?

Isuzu Hombre
Ron Hamilton replied to Lovefordgalaxie's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You have a beautiful truck. While it is true that would take a lot of work to replicate the Hombre, in my opinion, with your skills, it can be done. I started on both an S10 and a GMC Sonoma when these vehicles were new. It took me a long time to finish the GMC I have not finished the S10, as I have to strip and repaint the hood, and replace the kit wheels and tires with something a lot better from my parts box. Go for it Tulio. Those S10 kits should still be relatively cheap. -
'47 - '48 Fords N' Chevys
Ron Hamilton replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The AMT kit is a 1/43 scale kit, that is quite nice, and very rare. -
Very Nice!!!!!!!!

Lookin' good!!!!! I am going to do the interior in gray on my build, as it was an available interior color on the '83 Hurst Olds according to the information I have..

'47 - '48 Fords N' Chevys
Ron Hamilton replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I like the idea of doing a nice 48 Chevy vs. Ford build. I may have to pick up one of the new Revell '48 Ford kits for such a project. -
Congrats on the score Richard. I was able to go through my 2nd generation Corvette parts, and I do not have the cut down racing windshield. I love to see what you do with the '65 roadster. In the box, I found a glue-bombed original annual '63 Roadster with the flip headlamps. It had a few things glued to it, which can be fixed, but the rockers are toast, and the windshield frame is broken. I have an unbuilt Prestige version of the kit, where I am going to get the windshield frame, and possibly the rocker panels from the new kit, if I do not build the car with a "road racer" street machine vibe, with side exhaust, a better detailed small block, using parts from the Revell Parts Pack engine., and a set of Minilites or American 5-spokes.

Torino dd hubcaps and trim ring
Ron Hamilton replied to davysmodels's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
As far as I am concerned, there is NOT an accurate set of those caps and trim rings in scale. If I were doing them, I would do them in 3 sizes, 1/25 (14 x 6 for the Maverick, 15 x 7 for the Mustangs and Torinos), and a set in 1/24 scale {14 X 7 and 15 x 7 for the Monogram '70 Mustang). They probably would be a good seller. -
Very nice!!!! When I was a kid in the 6th grade, I got a '68 GTO as part of my Xmas haul. Unfortunately, it never got built, due to it had a melted front end, which was un-repairable. Fast forward forty years, I was able to get a couple of builders off of Ebay, and one of the various NNLs I attended. I built one, which is Dark Blue, with a Blue Vinyl Roof, and a White Interior. I have a second one that I am going to build as a replica of a friend's one to one.

I will have to take pictures of the Firebird, which is the only one in my display at this time. I have also built the '83 Camaro Berlinetta, and the '85 Camaro Iroc Z, which were all Revell 1/16 kits. I liked building them.

1969 Dodge Coronet R/T, 10/17, So Close I Can Taste It!!
Ron Hamilton replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Harry, That is the standard 69 Coronet RT hood if the car was equipped with the Ramcharger package. It was standard with the MPC kit, but incorrect with a Hemi. My car is built as a 440 4 bbl Magmum with the Track Pak option . -

I preferred Blue myself When I do my '68, it's going to be Turquoise, with the White interior. -

Ron Hamilton replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Very nice plans. I did the same thing several years back. May I make a suggestion? The '68 and '69 Doggies are different. Missing link has a very nice set of Dodge Doggies in their line. When I built mine, I used the doggies from the Liindberg '64 Dodge 330, which ironically are also correct. I have mocked up a R&R '68 Coronet R/T and '68 Charger R/T, as well as a Modelhaus '70 Charger R/T using a late AMT Chassis and drive train. The R&R body I have is not too bad at all, as I even have a '68 Plymouth Belvedere Sedan to do up as a Police Cruiser, or as a Cab. Those '68 through '70 Plymouth and Dodge intermediates are some of my favorite cars.
