I have both the 1955 and 1957 T-Birds, and a '55 Nomad that I built in the '70's, that I plan to re-build, as they were painted with good old Testor's Pla Enamel back in the day. They should come apart easily. I rebuilt the rare AMT '57 Chevy Hardtop Several years ago, and really enjoyed it.

Ala Kart a la carte: Part ONE, Compare and Contrast
Ron Hamilton replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Bill, I like what you are doing with this one. The A'la Cart has always intrigued me, even though it is not in my wheelhouse. I appreciate quality work, no matter what the subject matter is, and this one piques my interest. -
MMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!!!

I see somebody likes Mustangs. I do too, and I like these.

Those bring back memories. It's so hard to believe that those builds are that old. I have several of those that I bought new, that has not been built!!!!
-
Very Nice. I plan to re-build my '60 in Black, with the Black and White interior. Looking at your build just moved it up the queue.

Very Nice Runner Steve. I consider Chevy Rally Wheels and Baby Moons an upgrade people did over and above the base wheels.
-
Steve, I had some Rally Green Paint from MCW, but I did not use it on this build. In 1972, Olds had a color called Radiant Green, which was not as bright as the 1968-9 Chevrolet Rally Green. I used Tamiya Bright Green Metallic Lacquer Spray. I liked the color, and knew that I would use it on something.

That is so nice Steve.

I appreciate the comments on my builds with Dog Dish Caps on Steelies. Here is the rundown on some of my favorite builds with them. 1971 Dodge Charger R/T Hemi 1965 Dodge Polara CHP Cruiser 1966 Chevelle Super Sport 1958 Chevy Biscayne 1960 Chevy Corvair 700 Sedan (Under Construction) 1068 Chevy Nova SS COPO 1969 Dodge Coronet R/T 1964 Pontiac GTO Convertible 1972 Olds 443 Holiday Coupe I have a few more Muscle, Compact, and Police cruisers to build with the aforementioned rolling stock to build, Some will surprise you, as I have to master a set of caps for a future build. Feel free to comment, and post your builds with Dog Dish Caps here. I would love to see them.

Thanks for the kind remarks on the build. A funny side note on the Dog Dish caps, back in the day when these cars were new, or available to be purchased, If I were to buy a car, I would have never considered a set of doggies, but as I have gotten older, I appreciated the look, and built several muscle car models with them, as they look great with deepened wheels, and an upgraded tire, either red lines, or white lettered. Whitewalls with doggies always looked cheap to me, especially on a full sized upper level car. Even black walls always looked better with them to me. I picked up several sets of dog dish caps in resin over the years, and I have some sets left to install on some future builds. To me, stance and running stock is very important,

Great score John! You know I have a thing for Red '60 Bonneville Convertibles. I built 2 of them, one an AMT, and the Trumpeter.

Tasty!!!!!

I like that!!!! I am going to do one as a convertible, I have a chewed up promo to use for the build.

To me, it was not too difficult, but the cuts on the body have to be precise, and there is a little scratch building involved. The hardest part was joining the JoHan package shelf to the Revell interior floor and sides, Also, the Johan rear bumper must be used, as the Revell bumper is too wide, No, it is basically a mish-mash of the Revell kit, and the roof section and rear bumper from the JoHan kit.

Love those Chargers!!!

Fantastic!!!

After several attempts, I was able to photograph my finished build of a 1972 Olds 442 2 Door Hardtop. I built this one based on a photo I saw in Muscle Car Review Magazine, even though I did not realize it, My build is a little different form the one-to-one, in that I installed a set of Missing Link Resin's Olds Dog Dish Caps, mounted on a set of parts box steelies. I used a set of Scabo Scale Uniroyal Tiger Paw Tire Transfers on the kit tires, which is correct for this car. The paint is Tamiya Bright Green Metallic, which is a close match for Oldsmobile's "Radiant Green", and the 4-speed manual transmission. The one to one had Olds "Super Stock" wheels and an automatic transmission. I also recreated the 442 Hardtop interior, using various pieces of plastic strip, with the much better detailed Revell interior set up as the base. I really enjoyed building this one, but I am willing to bet that Revell will bring this one out as a kit in the near future. Tommy Olson and Me beat them to the punch. Would you believe that I have yet to build this kit straight from the box as a 1972 Olds Cutlass Supreme Convertible, or as a Hurst Olds Convertible? I did one as a '71 Olds 442 Convertible and as a 1972 Hurst Olds Hardtop

1969 Dodge Coronet R/T, 10/17, So Close I Can Taste It!!
Ron Hamilton replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
You are absolutely right Mike. When MPC originally tooled up the '68 Coronet R/T, the "Power Bulge" hood was the only game in town on the model in the one to one world with either the 440 Magnum, or the 426 Hemi. When MPC created their model kit, the Hemi was the engine included, and it was correct for the application. While it was quite possible that Dodge built a few Hemi equipped Coronet R/T cars with the Power Bulge, a huge majority of them came out of the factory with the "Ramcharger" ram air set up, and that is what was listed as standard equipment on the car. The MPC '69 Coronet R/T kit as equipped with the power bulge may not necessarily be incorrect, but maybe as an early production car. When I was a kid, I had a '69 Coronet R/T kit which I built. I wish I had that one back, but I built one a few years ago, and I am quite happy with it. -

But of course you do, because it was not officially offered from the factory in that configuration. But on the street, WOW!!!!! -

Ron Hamilton replied to StevenGuthmiller's topic in WIP: Model Cars
There was a fellow in the neighborhood who had a '70 Coronet R/T with the 440 Six Pack option. It had the Ramcharger hood with the ram air package, which was also available on the '69. While I did mine as a 440 Magmum with the track pak option, it could be possible to combine the six pack manifold, with the Ramcharger hood, as a factory test mule, or a "dealer installed" item sanctioned by the factory. Just a possibility. Back ok in the day, Dodge had some wild sleeper cars roaming the street.
