Lack of motivation to build
Eshaver replied to MPi-KM's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I build one kit at a time . I may study a kit for a couple of years deciding as to how I'm going to use it . Because dioramas are my main focus , try staying on task for a couple of years as in the case of my stuff, there are no aftermarket pieces . Yes, all the maps , gasoline pumps , everything in my restaurants and service station builds are mine exclusively . -
Because I do entire buildings as dioramas , I usually include a book with photos of the actual building , construction shots and a few select shots of previous shows . The Judges don't pay any attention to the books . The people attending usually enjoy them and truthfully, I'm more after their votes anyway . Judges generally can't discern what a archecturial diorama is anyway !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AMT 34 Ford Pickup
Eshaver replied to pharoah's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
John , It gets MY vote because you had the audacity to use a very obscure color , Testor's Lt Purple which is as close to the Darker purple sold in 1963 when that kit was talked up in Car Craft magazine by then, Budd Anderson . Thanks for allowing me back into my most favored tome , the 60's . -
Greg gets it !

2015 Revell share the Dream
Eshaver replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I carefully went through the whole site . Many of the potential releases like the 57 Ford wagon are becoming a reality. There is some "REAL" diorama material featured as in a Grey Hound bus that will have limited appeal . Still, I'm with most here , we have enough 57 Bel Airs, Camaro's and Mustangs . I know the race cars will hit a good many too. Formula I has never been a great seller in the US . -
Joe, GREAT job on covering this subject !

Doug, your Photo back drops are phenomenal ! I know in my experience as an advertising lay out artist such props are highly effective . Just look at Michael Williams's and ken Hamilton . BOTH gentlemen have used Photo back drops with carefully selected photo angles to achieve a very realistic scene at minimal cost .

I can honestly say no. I didn't much care for decals , louvers or fender skirts . I do admit to Brush painting until 1963 when I got brave and tried a can of Light Blue Spray on AMT's 1963 Ford F-100. it didn't shine as the paint was too thick. Still, I got better as time went on as I was determined to do as well as the older crowd .

AMT originated this kit about fall of 1967. A comparable convertible kit was also offered later . I have an old built one I disassembled someplace . Subsequent re issues lost a good many of the "Stock parts and I was told the Steven's International Private re -re issue restored the necessary stock pieces in 2007 or so . It's a nice kit given what engineers had then . The "Gasser " stuff was it's claim to fame when it first appeared , so look for the 427, Funny car axle , etc ............

I'll follow this closely as this kit has some horrific gaps in the sides ................

Eshaver replied to Pete L.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
John, I hope someone buys ya a lunch! I get the same stuff BOTH on forums and on faceless book. The problem is , the keyboard makes a lot of people invincible . keep up the good work too ! -
Being as I was in the Wrecker business for years , I had to deal with insurance adjusters and of course State Farm . In my ears , three companies NOT to do business with come to mind . They are in Order : Allstate , State farm , Nationwide . Any questions ?

I have to commend you on attempting such a build ! The body looks flawless to me and I'm sure if it goes into competition , will be a serious contender !

Been awhile since I've seen diorama work of this caliber here on this forum ! Outstanding .

question about 53 chevy
Eshaver replied to gray07's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Gray, the Monogram kit of a 53 Bel Air was 1-24th . The Revell Bel Air sedan was 1-25th . I can't exactly remember what parts were in what as I build stock . A spoiler from a 1-24th car will be a good two Millimeters wider
