  1. Tom, by 1940, Texaco was doing four porcelain boxes , A B C D . The Matawan came about as a result of Mrs Johnson during her husband's presidential term . The fences in front of junk years , Beautify America was kind of a collaboration between Shell Oil and her staff. It was the famous "Porcelain box" that was a target . In Texaco terms , this was a "B " station , uh two bays , rectangle standard lot shape . Now I don't what questions you have pertaining to Texaco's buildings , I'll try and answer them in a P-M .
  2. The 1963 Ford Galaxie HT customizing kit has Bongo drums too
  3. Actually, the hubcaps in an A M T "A -team " van are going to be really close . The 250 six is probably found by raiding a Trumpeter Nova . I think ken Kitchen also does a 1964- 78 Chevrolet 6 too. The front axle , uh the 55-57 Chevrolet Step side or cameo trucks , same on the rear . These vans were either a 90 inch wheelbase or, starting in 1967, the new 108 WB and a 307 V-8 option was made available . I used to manufacture aftermarket parts for these vans and yes, owned a couple in the day too.
  4. Pretty soon , finding a "REAL " hobby shop will be like finding a Pay Phone that works .......................
  5. Bill, if the Model T kits are near Galaxy quality, I'm ok with paying more . Besides, I do a LOT of period diorama work. These early Ford cars are a welcome sight for people like myself who are constantly on the look out for anything that will fit into the early 20th century ..............
  6. Jo han was very much doing "Job work " for several outside firms in the early 1980's . I had friends within General Motors confirm that , and they weren't assembly line personnel . In addition , Jo han also did some arm rests for Chrysler as they had access to the chrome plating machines too.
  7. For me , Hobby lobby is a good distance from me . being on a fixed income , balancing in a 40% coupon and the current cost of fuel still won't justify a trip . If Iwere closer, I probably would shop at a H L.................
  8. Tulio makes a great point . I can prevue any picture BEFORE I send it out regardless on any forum. Simply store the picture on the computer , go to "Pictures " , then go to "Prevue ", dang , that was too easy wasn't it ?
  9. Vernon, ask Ken K-Dog. He's from down near Raleigh....................
  10. Done ...............
  11. Coming to Richmond Virginia in just 1 week !
  12. Nice SEDAN DELIVERY ...................................................
  13. Danno, you say you went through a lot to construct "Realistic " hinges . Could you elaborate on the materials , helpful hints etc?
  14. Danno, Art, yer talking to one of the scrap plastic, button thread with a block of bee's wax model builders too, uh huh ...................
  15. Wow , thinking back to 1960 when I got into this uh lets see: Sheet styrene Structural plastic stock cynoaccrinate glue a catalyzed plastic filler photoetch parts epoxy resin parts /bodies
  16. Tom, Carl is correct on the color being a lot darker . This would very much hold true if it were porous concrete like what I see depicted here . Generally though , the surrounding concrete that showed the outline of the "Pit " was usually painted in a Gloss White or Red . With Indian refining , I would use a Testors Red .
  17. My feelings about Round 2 are probably hated by many as I don't think they care . If they did , we would have actually dug into the vaults and re released some of the annuals and recent one offs like the Subaru . They're playing it "Safe " with stuff that's been re released to near death with new boxes . I dunno, if I were in the plastic molding business considering the economy currently, I would probably do the same thing ...........
  18. Amazing .......................................
  19. Charlie , I've kicked this station around as the lady I write for is from the area where the station in Florida resides . Pretty much, one could build the "Skeleton " using a series of "Shaped " Foam core strips and suspended temporarily using florist wire . The rest of the photographs show two different buildings . Still, they both employ the Foamcore and suspended Florist wire . I use Polyester Fiberglass to cover the skeletons when I'm satisfied that the Foam skeleton is reasonably close to the shape needed . I use Automobile filler, aka Bondo to fill the imperfections . The first building is The Zep Diner that was in Hawthorne California , a south central city that was merged into the L A county years back . The second building is Quality Oil #5 in Winston Salem North Carolina . Thankfully, this building was at least restored to it's former glory back in 1995. The last building is the former , The Fish Inn , a wooden structure built around 1928 in Core de Adeline Idaho near the Washington border . This building suffered a massive grease fire in 1992 .
  20. H L finally opened a second location way west of me in the unincorporated town of Midlothian . Now the service is always very good , the selection is very nice and the distance .................. uh not so nice . because of that, I might see myself going there once , maybe twice a year .
  21. Mark, I haven't seen any of the Jo - Han snap kits since I guess maybe 1992. That's about the time Seville got the company ,or what was left of it .
  22. This Sinclair is in Florida , I may be doing a story for Still Runnin magazine on it , stay tuned .
  23. Charlie , this the one you were referring to ?
  24. Julius , Chevron oil built one out there too. Different design ....................
  25. Charlie , I have a couple shots of the place . .......................
