  1. Nice!
  2. That's cool. I have one of those (stock) from my dad's stuff. Not one of my favorites, but it was his.
  3. That is a beautiful model. Best ones I have are the Ertl Precision 57 Chrysler 300 and Tbird. Hwy 61s approach those. But nothing as nice as an Exoto.
  4. I have the forest green/cream version of the 79. Bought at a yard sale. Looks okay on shelf in my office from a distance. You can tell it's a late 70s Ford truck. That's about all I wanted from it and it was cheap. Would look much better with some detail and those tailgate letters are pretty horrid.
  5. NICE! Love it!
  6. I just remembered - I also have a 1/18 Maisto Daytona. Not bad and even cheaper. Like $20. But I would like to build one myself. Would look good with my 3 Accurate Miniatures Gs vettes.
  7. Exoto made/makes a die cast too in 1/18 - very nice if you got the money... But prices aren't going higher, so that's good. https://www.ebay.com/i/222504648388?chn=ps&fl=a
  8. This was one of my faves as a kid. As a kid, who couldn't love Tom Daniels' kits. Molded in color and wild hot rod stuff. Epic. So as the nostalgai sets in , i did build one as an adult and it was every bit of fun. No attempt to make it super realistic, just use best building skills I could. Then it got knocked off the shelf. I still have it bagged for rebuild.
  9. I have one of these. They sure look good on shelf even at 1/32. And with the Monogram Grand Sports, even better. My buddy & I had some epic battles with these. http://www.electricdreams.com/Shop/monogram-slot-cars-monogram-cobra-coupe-c-168_17_98.html?zenid=0f9c69af67d06f61fcc4ab7a33c1d567 Shame Monogram didn't see fit to enlarge it to fit on the Cobra chassis.
  10. Nothing wrong with that build at all. Real or model. Keep going on both!
  11. Here's mine from last year. Similar thoughts on color.
  12. I don't care what the complaints are against this body, these are among my favorites (it is a CUSTOM after all). This looks great - love the color. And the flames. And well, all of it! Nice job!
  13. A 427 would shred the wire wheels, if I remember my reading from the past. Therefore the wires weren't used on the 427 cars. No big deal as it is just a model . And it looks really good. Stay on it.
  14. Very nice. I did a NASCAR Dodge in a day once. Used Krylons through airbrush and dehydrator for major assemblies and did the details while that dried. Lots of metallizers and satin black from Krylon too. Can be done - just have to plan your paints. This one looks great. Nothing to apologize for.
  15. I had the local Chrysler dealership try to tell me the trans flush was REQUIRED at 35K miles. Or my warranty would be voided. I said show me in the owner's manual where it says that. And that I was not going to help pay for his machine. After that, we got along fine. He knew I was paying attention. Same dealership, few years later, different service manager. I had hit a deer and fixed by Ford collision center because I knew the manager and the painter and knew they would do it right and for the best deal for me. That was fine. But I was taking car to CHRYSLER dealership for oil changes because I was on a coupon special - cheaper than I could buy oil & filter. Took it in 3 times in a row and the SAME TECH told me the radiator was busted and needed replacing because there was some dried pink blowback on the battery case. Remember I said I hit a deer? This was from that incident. The FIRST time I told him if there was a problem the FORD place said they would fix anything left from the incident. There was nothing wrong. Then TWO more times they did it. I told them that they were basaically showing me how crooked they are. they don;t care - someone else will replace me in line to get screwed over. Now I have a great mechanic but I still have to keep an eye on him. The popped me for a brake light bulb at inspection while I left it and went to work and they got my wife on a repair. a few years back So I do some of my own maintenance and tell him that the reason I do that is to take some of the work he could have had if he were more fair at times. He apologizes. BUT, he is the BEST at diagnosing weird BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH that can occur - sensors, electrical - they have a computer that looks at car in real time with it running. And they are more than willing to let me watch and explain it to me. That's the whole deal - you got to have an idea of what it going on or the potiential for a screwing increases exponentially.
  16. You guys evidently skipped the 1/64s.... Or you'd all be clamoring for the OLDS Superbee. The card says Dodge. But yeah, I'm kinda calling him out on the OLDS Superbee. Pay attention, or go back and do it right, if you want us to believe that you believe and know something of your product line and car history. Kits? Meh. I already have the ones I like out of these. HOWEVER, if you don't have the Fairlane, Edsel, and Pontiac, don;t hesitate. These were tooled in a high time at AMT, I think. Couple of the 1/64s I liked. I am changing my collection to 1/64s because they take up less space. Especially the 1/18s. If I have a smaller version, I sell the bigger ones off. And you guys moving? I feel for ya. My wife keeps looking at houses, but I really don't want to pack up again. Good luck with your moves. Randy
  17. Nice! I went thru a stage where I was building concepts like this and the Stingray III. Paint messed up on my Mustang and I never finished it. If I ever find it again, maybe a strip and repaint something less evil than day glo. Great work!
  18. BEST. post. of. the. day.
  19. That's beautiful! Thanks for sharing.
  20. I built this one a long time ago. Wish I had decals to repaint it to my skills now. Excellent kit. Enjoy!
  21. I hope they make enough of them that I can get one after I see one or two built up. If they are all they promise. I would love to see the other kits as well. A Holly Farms Laguna especially. I live in NC so NASCAR is a big thing here. New, old, it doesn't matter. I don;t care for the new stuff, buth the old cars have always been my favorites. I would rather see the street cars, but these are insteresting to me as well. As for Accurate Miniatures, I bought 3 of the GS kits and was waiting eagerly for the Roadster and their cup car. And that was like $30 - $40 a while back. Yes modelers will pay if they want the kits. And I think there is enough demand for these. Good luck to them.
  22. THe BBs I have are aluminum, according to the tube, I think. I guess that's why the spray cans usually have a glass bead in them? I keep my acrylics in the house during the winter, since my workspace is in my outside storage building. The enamles stay down there and haven't lost an unopened bottle yet. I do try to clean the lid and bottle lip before closing and generally try to "palette" my paint and not use straight from bottle. Has nothing to do with the OP, but while we're talking paint... I don't have a local source for Tamiya and have so much on hand, I don't have to buy much. Can usually plan a trip to Hobby Lobby or the LHS (30 miles) when I need paint. And I use a lot of touch up paints from auto parts stores for bodies. I do have a a pint can of enamel flat black (rustoleum?) that works pretty good and will last a looong time. I try to airbrush a big batch of flat/satin black when I am working. that is the most commonly used color in my building.
  23. I have found that the acrylics paint as good or better than the enamels anymore. Especially the flat black. thin and covers pretty well. Shake your paints! Put a BB in it.
  24. I had that set. I finished the roadster I think. Or very close. I run across them in my stuff once in a while. Unfortunately, the instructions are MIA and I know I'll never get around to them.
  25. Nice! Been waiting for folks to start building the mainstreamer Cutlass.
