HWY 61 does some really nice cars. Some of the best I've seen anyway. Only ones I have left are the 1/18 Hudson in tan over black and the 2009 Challenger. BUt I went through several when I owned a hobby shop. Before they really got going as good as now.

Wow. This is impressive. I thought I was using models as a substitute for having a real hot rod or project car. BUT I think I really like toy cars more than real ones. We have all probably spent more on models than we could have on a real car or house. I sold enough old stuff last year to pay for a new riding mower. Plus some. But I also spent almost as much on new acquisitions as my collection has changed from "EVERY DANG THING" to US cars of the 30s - early 60s mostly. And big American cars of most any vintage. And nice models. If it has excellent detail, I won't exclude it from the collection. Wife lets me keep around 200 cars displayed in loving room. from 1/64 - 1/12 (Tamiya Martini Porsche). Last week, I changed the display but didn't say anything to see how long it would take the wife to notice. About a week. Lol. I may be coming to an end of building and collecting in a big manner - the Mints aren't doing anything. The model companies aren't doing much new or exciting older stuff. May have to be content with backlog of unbuilts I have and a few new things if anything else comes out, reissue or new. I have quite a few things left to build though. And several projects to be addressed. So not like I'll be out of things to do. And selling off the old stuff I don't want. Like most, a model collection gets cumbersome over decades. Heck I probably have 250 display cases to protect the cars. how do you decide what gets displayed and what gets put in "storage" when you get to apoint where you like more cars than you have space for?

I do wish I could get these with stockish wheels. But then the rockers would still be cartoonish. But I like it still. nice car.

NICE SAVE! I have a few like that as well. I took me a couple looks to notice the replacement wheels that don't match.

Bburage seems to make some nice Ferraris at reasonable prices. My buddy bought one that was labeled DeAgostini (I think) and when he got it, it was a Bburage in their box. But it was a car that isn't available through normal US channels. It was a blue something - that's how extensive my knowledge is of ferrari die casts. But like normal, it was noice excelt the bare metal showing through under the panels. Good score.

Testors will match the metallic fairly well. I mean, for me, it's an engine in a model car. If someone were to call me out for it, I'd say prove it ain't so. I mean they used more than one mix I'm sure. Kinda like the 16 (or whatever) variations of Wimbledon white. I use an airbrush for it since the paint does weird things when applied wiith brush, due to its translucency.

I could probably put my hands on a couple new bottles of you ever need. I have leftovers from the hobby shop days. Maybe that's a trade if you find something at the toy show... You have my email... Lol

I sold a whole box of bodies to a guy. Some other guy gave them to me. They are out there. Happy hunting.

Old bodies, spoons, plastic styrene sheet (check with a sign company?). For compatibility, you really should use plastic out of the kit. You can usually try that on the top of chassis if kit has a separate floor pan that will cover it. Or on the bottom of chassis if you are going to paint it anyway. So what if it isn't glossy? It can give you and idea of paint will work on a particular kit's plastic. For general practice, get some signs at Walmart or something - like the FOR SALE or NO TRESPASSING and paint the backs. they may be slightly textured though, if they are PVC. But I think some are styrene. Or find a sign supplier near you and ask for scraps of styrene sheet. Heck, a 4'x 8' sheet used to be less than $10 for 1/32" or so. I have an inch tall stack of plastic squares we had when we cut them up for gas pump overlays. Look on ebay for junkyards of plastic parts that are still unpainted?

My experience helping a friend get the head bolts out of his Pontiac is that the metallic color in Ace's photo is the right color. Car in first post is pretty dark compared to that. And darker thant he blues used on the Mecom GS Vettes. Surely somewhere there is a reference? I think Testors did an Olds engine blue that is not as dark as the Arctic Blue? Good luck figuring it out. Where's Gramps? he knows stuff like this...

Mine has green wheels as well. Looks fairly nice to me. But yes. Green. I'm like you, not big on black interiors.

Here is my current thing. Many of you that have read my posts have read my reference to my buddy that has me build things for him or repair diecasts for him. Todd. Well, Todd would have me do these builds for him and in return, he'd send me Franklin or Danbury Mint diecasts for my collection. or he'd buy model kits that I wanted to build. Or he'd give me cash to buy supplies. We were pretty good buddies. He was supposed to come up this weekend to pick up like 9 builds I have done for him since last time I saw him in person. We emailed and texted frequently. His wife texted me Sunday that he died. So that hit me pretty hard as we had just emailed Friday. He had already asked that if something happened to him, that I help his wife sell off his collection. We'll do that sometime. This is the last thing I started before he died. I'll finish this one in his honor and figure out what to do with the the rest. You sure don;t see many of these built up. But, here is the car. This thing almost falls together. No challenges yet. Krylon Regal blue - Todd didn't like bright colors and this was close to the dark blue in photos. I may try some Future/Pledge on this one for gloss. I've never used it before - don't even own any yet.

Ther rear bumpers are completely different. Maybe they aren't seated all the way? BUT, other photos I found are similar. Revell kit right?

I like the green. Not really a fan of red Corvettes. Wide whites? Yep. And those bumpers are ponderous. I'd detail the chorme and leave it if I were looking at it on my shelf. Good luck with the redo though.

I had the "regular" release when tehy were first editions. In an really bland mint or sage green, very 50s. The intial hobby shop release had opening trunk. Mine did not. but had the separate trunk lid. So I blew it apart to find out if it had the trunk detailing and was sealed. It did not have the trunk insert, but they had simply inserted a plastic rod in the hinge to keep the lid closed. This one is pretty spectacular.

I have this in 1/24 in black with green interior from whichever Mint did it. The 1/18 looks good too.

And the resale on them is pretty good. I had them but nothing really I could do with them other than look at in box and theyy weren't priority cars for me, so they stayed in boxes out of sight really. So I sold mine for good money. But yes, everyone needs to own them at least once.

Well, maybe you can find the Dodge from Hwy 61 in UK without the WIX? Although the WIX branding seems to keep them lower. Sorry about all the other issues with shipping. If I'm not mistaken, we in US are having issues with model compaines and pricing right now due to the gov't tariffs. I know it makes a pretty big difference on materials on our industry. We do BP reimaging and most of those materials are coming from China now so they get taxed and it changes often.
