  1. That's cool. I rebuilt my Streaker Vette some years ago too. I'll be watching to see how this comes along. Scott
  2. Only once. In 1982 I was finishing up my first heavily modified project. It was a prostreet Vega based on the USA1 kit. Scratchbuilt frame, roll cage, tubs, firewall, plumbing, treaded slicks, Testors candy cherry red paint with candy blue graphics and lots of clear - it was my best effort yet and represent many months of work. I remember our poodle puppy coming up to me while I was at my desk working on it. I shooed her away. Later I went out. When I came back, on my desk was the Vega now nicely chewed on both ends. My mom was right in the door behind me. She let me know the puppy had gotten to the model. I was pretty upset. But had to understand that it was just what puppies did - after a bit of talking from Mom. The next day there was a new kit of a red 80s Camaro on my desk. She said she could not find a red Vega. (Not a surprise.) I still thought that was pretty cool. I have two pics of the Vega and enough parts for a one-of-these-days project. Also - I have always had cats. None of them ever get on my work bench. Go figure. Scott
  3. Awww Maaan. Coool.
  4. This is just stunning. The pics are top notch too. Scott
  5. Welcome aboard Tim. Interesting that you identified two models by the same person. His name is Ira and aside from being a truly great person, he has been building since wayyyyy back. I first found out about Ira's creativity when I picked up an old issue of Car Modeler magazine and saw his Mooncube series. One of many PRIME modelers you will find here. Enjoy! Scott
  6. Excellent job Frank on that Harry Bradley design. I've heard it called ugly. This one looks beautiful to me. I also agree with the build them crowd. Scott
  7. WOW Bernard! You are a master at nailing a classic look. Great work, Sorry I will not be able to see this at the NNL this year. I'll be there next year for sure. Scott
  8. I feel for you. I did just about the the samething to a custom body. Crushed it between my legs try to catch it. Good news is, it went back together with testors liquid and CA glue in just 30 minutes. A little time in the dehydrator helped too. (Hi-pitched Monty Python voice) - "It's not dead yet." Now, did anyone find a Detail Master 1/25th PE seatbelt strap adjuster on their bench? I droped one. Even after a full floor sweeping, bench cleaning, drawer cleaning, and clothing and hair search - it be gone. I can only conclude it passed through the modeling wormhole to one of you guys. Scott
  9. Here's my Jim Lytle Story. The first time I saw a picture Big Al as a kid it stuck with me as one of the coolest cars there was. Imagine my surprise while attend college in Sacramento I saw the body upside down on the back of flatbed headed down the freeway. About a year later I started building a model of a heavily chopped VW bus with two Allison's. I painted it like a Nike shoebox and thought I actually had a chance of getting Nike to use the idea for a commercial. I read in Rod and Custom that Jim Lytle was living in Hawaii. The articale also said he was building an allison powered VW bus. I called information got his number and called him up and asked if would want to participate. He was a very nice guy and wished me luck. The whole Nike Air bus thing fizzled, but it was neat to talk to a hero of mine. RIP Jim. You were a visionary, a showman, and a good guy. Scott

  15. Just too kool!
  16. Likn' the Lincoln, Chuck.
  17. There was an episode of Law & Order where the killer was a car modelr builder. Vincent suff-on-O took him down by telling he used a #70 drill bit to drill a hole for a valve stem. Great stuff. Does anyone remember the 1976 or 1977 show - I think it was about teachers - where the lead character discovers that this kid is actually smart because he builds museum quality model cars and even laces up his own wire wheels? Good luck. Scott
  18. I spoke to Randy many times at the NorCal NNL. Truly a nice guy. You will be missed, Randy.

  22. Hey Chuck, I checked with Tim Nolan, Builder of the Green Lincoln on the source of the rims and tires. Just a little info... Scott Those resin rims/tires were from an old belly tanker kit that I believe came from the Model Car Garage, but i wouldn't swear to it! I've had them probably 20 yrs. or more!!!
  23. This is another good one. Wish I had some of my brush painted beauties from my youth. Shortened more than one finished model with a hacksaw back then. Just cut and glue. Dark blue testers bottle covered everything.
