Ya well, you live up in the middle of no were Jim. How can you expect to experience what the rest of the " normal" Floridian's do? Yuk. Yuk.

What a guy. I mean that with the greatest amount of honestly. Saving a lady bug is supposed to bring good luck.

I'm with Rich on this as far as the only model car site I visit. My computer is in the same room as my modeling desk, so I tend to spend more time than I really need to on the computer. As a retiree, I find that I have a lot of time on my hands and that managing that can get out of hand. I should really should spend more time on projects, but I have found that the concentration wanes with age. Maybe I should take up learning to spell properly. My college prof's in the past and this web site tell me i'm wrong. O"well, hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

I wont bother to pm you. Facts are facts. Period. If you can't handle that. Oh well. I'm not letting you off that easy. Your name calling is uncalled for and indicative of your attitude.

It sounds like Florida. A couple of months in Spring and a couple in the fall are ideal. In the Winter it can get cold and even freeze. In the Summer, it get's too hot and humid.

Can't handle the truth? I'm not amazed . Or maybe it's just that you like to stir the pot.. It would be right in line with with a lot of your posts. I have your number.

Thank you Eric, you've made my day. What I'm about to say is meant to be taken in a positive, kindly way and not harsh or negative . My post was not intentionally directed at you. From your opening post on, you never presented this 3d print to be anything other than what it is. My concern was that it seemed that others were seeing what they wanted to see and not reality. I was excited to see that someone had bought a 3d printer to use for model car parts printing. One of the major reasons for my w.i.p. 3d printing posts is to encourage others to get involved. Otherwise, I would just complete the model as some others have and say-here it is, I 3d printed this at home. The experience you gain from working with your printer will carry thru into future, more advanced printing machines. Now, as to your print. Take note on the 35 LaSalle post, I state, at least I think I did, that to get the best print with a filament printer, you need to break the file down into pieces. Teach yourself the best orientation of the part on the build platform. Learn when and where to use support material. You will see a steady improvement in your prints. Good luck, happy 3d printing.

What did you see on the road today?
my66s55 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I live on a cross street intersection on the south east corner. The owner of this car, which I believe is a 72, lives on the north east corner. The owner of the 68 Caddie in my original post lives on the northwest corner, and of coarse, my garage houses my 1966 full size Mercury S55 convertible. 2 doors down to the south of me is a 1968 fully restored, in immaculate condition, 1968 GMC pickup, It was in the garage today so no picks as well was the 1938 Olds 2 door sedan that was under the car cover. -
This 3d printer does not print anything acceptable to my standards, or the vast majority of members on this board. Why do I say this? Look for yourself. Closeups of the op's print. If these are the results you want from a 3d printer, go ahead and waist your money. Me, I know better. Check me out. 1935 LaSalle convertible coupe - 3d printed at home Aug. 30
my66s55 replied to my66s55's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I drew up the cooling fan and printed it out. Unfortunately my camera refused to give me a good focus. You can barely make out the bolt heads. The doors have been done for about a year. I wanted to show you how important it is to know what you printer can do and to learn the best position to get the best print you can. The inner skin was printed streight up on the build platform of the fdm printer in the same position as these pictures. They are 1/16th thick and and 2 1/2 inches high. The outer skin and door jambs were added later. Currently, I am working on the firewall. It was printed on the high def sla dlp printer after I created the file. -

That's very thoughtful of you Steve, but I don't think you have read this entire post. If you did, you would realize that my dlp printer prints great resolution and needs very little if any finish work to parts it prints. Guys are printing their own war gaming miniatures at home themselves on sla dlp printers. My main purpose of this w.i.p is to show the difference in the fdm filament style printers that are so cheap and the advancement in 3d printing into small, high detail parts. An update to this w.i.p is coming soon. -
I use a Pilot brand extra fine point marker. I just picked up a new one today at Hobby Lobby for $3.49 without a coupon. It lasts quite a while and is also great for touching up chrome where the sprew connected and chipped the chrome when it was cut off.

Google the make and year of the dash gauges your looking for, like this: 1959 Plymouth dash board and when the searches appear, click on images and you will get tons of examples. This came up for my 59 Plymouth build: Also check e-bay motors parts. I find lots of good stuff there.

3D printing quality
my66s55 replied to 59 Buick's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm going to take a moment here to interject my own personal experiences with 3d printing. I own both an fdm and sla dlp printer. I have taught myself to be able to create 3d printable files. I have 2 w.i.p currently active posts on this forum. I have extensive experience in what can and can't be achieved with each style printer. I am very familiar with many of the different styles of cad software. In essence, been there , done that. I don't talk out of my hat. I accumulated years of experience in this process. When I say something, it's because I know it from experience. By the way, I built both of my printers. It's not rocket science. Many people around the world are doing the same with great success. -

New modeling tool from Kitchen Table Resins
my66s55 replied to Ken Kitchen's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
The answer to JB and any other nichol and dimmers is quite simple to me. Either pay the required shipping cost to the provider, or don't order. -
