Thanks Gary, although those are the vids I have been able to find, they are not what I remember. I have visions of numerous panels being shreaded and ripped off the car like paper as it stands up and flips over, the shot was from the side.

I wasn't sure where to post this, move it if it should be somewhere else. So far I have had no luck finding any pics of the blow over of the Garlits run when he was running the Swamp Rat with the air craft front tire's/wheels when he ran them covered with full body work and the cockpit full cowl. I remeber it was one of the first comp runs with that car. The images of the body panels being ripped off and shredded have always stuck with me. For what ever reason I can not find pics anywhere, there are images of his famous blow over where the car flips and does it's best to be a ballerina, but none of that run. Any help is appreciated.

Sorry to learn the Ajax show seems to be a goner. I will be heading to the Guelph show.

I totally agree. It's the tiny details that help fool our minds into thinking we are looking at the real thing. Looking good John keep it up dude.

Beautiful work.

I have to say the pens do have their place and can produce some good results. The down side I have with them is you only get one shot at doing the 'chrome' you can't go over it again until it has fully cured or the first coat gets messed up. Which really isn't an issue when you get the hang of using them.

1955 Jukebox Ford.... With a twist !

Nice build, very nice BMF work. -
I have dealt with George on a personal level before he jumped into the resin/chrome business 100%. George is a solid and reliable guy. I can't speak about his current situation as far as work load goes as we have lost touch with him being so crazy busy. I would use his service in a heart beat.

The interior is going to rock when it comes together.

This is looking really good.

Is the hatch from the same kit as the shell, or is the 'fit' that bad? NP on the pics .
-
I found this. From this photo the c-pillar transition area looks smaller on the kit, also the door looks shorter. The rear side pod also looks shorter, the wheel openings are a different shape too. The more you look at the two pics the more you can find. Although as with many race cars teams often did their own tweaking for one reason of another. Most of the differences seen here can be changed and or tweaked. Regardless it's still a cool model worth building.

Oh man that is very cool, huge props on getting it done. I have always dug that show car and have been thinking about doing one for the past 7 yrs, but in 1/12 scale, even bought a Tamiya 1/12 Honda RA273 kit for the engine and chassis. PM coming your way.

Hoping to have it done for a Nov 6 show, no biggie if I don't.

I have no idea if this shell is correct or not but is sure looks like a fun kit. That roof is begging to be chopped. I always thought the stock version of these cars look cartoonish with their short narrow body and tall roof line. This shell has soooo much potential for a custom pro touring street car.
-
I have found it really depends on how the kit assembly process has been designed/engineered and how the shell is matted to the chassis. In some cases it may require many fittings and adjustments of both the chassis, interior tub and shell in order to get shell on as one unit after it is painted so as not to cause an damage to all sub assemblies. I am sure builders on here with decades of building experience will have more to offer.

This is looking really great. Nice paint all round. I currently have this kit in a holding pattern. Your build has me itching to get going on it again.

NNL Nationals #39....283 photos with all builders identified
Rider replied to tim boyd's topic in Contests and Shows
Thanks for posting a bit of history. I truly respect the NNL format and what it does for builders and the modelling community as a whole. I guess it's just the competitive and perfectionist side of me that is interested in the judging side of a show. I don't build any thing with the intent of putting it in a show, I build for my own interests and the joy of seeing my own work up on the shelf at home.
