  1. Simply remarkable. Charlie Larkin
  2. Hi, Anthony (or do you prefer Tony?) Neil and I are both members of MassCar, Neil being the founding member and first president. We usually meet at 45 West St., Medfield, Ma. Depending on where in Rhode Island you are, and the traffic, it's anywhere from 45 minutes- an hour and a half. I'm assuming you're up around the Metro area (Prov., Pawtucket, EP, NP, Cranston, Johnston), about 45 is a reasonable guess, as long as the traffic doesn't act up. I'll PM you with directions, my direct e-Mail and phone number for more details. Looking forward to seeing you soon. Charlie Larkin
  3. I do like what I seeing. This goes on the "get" list, absolutely without question. I'll have all three- and I can do one each 1946-47-48 car. Works for me. Charlie Larkin
  4. You definitely need to consult a qualified attorney. Any good real estate lawyer will work well. And I agree, I'm sure WUSA or WBAL would be more than happy to string up a D.C. building inspector and hold him to public shame. The insurance company might even be a good first resort. They can put enough fear into anyone that they'll do exactly what you need/want them to do! Charlie Larkin
  5. Right now, the house is under MASSIVE re-organization, so I've even lost my TV tray! I'm hoping to have some space in the next 2-3 weeks again. Barring that, I'm seriously looking at using a friend's dining room table sometime in the next couple of weeks so I can get a couple of projects finished. Charlie Larkin
  6. Nice truck, Steve. Chuck- I like that '67. Charlie Larkin
  7. That looks very nice, Al. Charlie Larkin
  8. I like all the ideas I've seen here. I'll add a 1936 Terreplane- Art Deco at its finest. I'd also like to see a LaSalle. Several of the mid-late 30s models were gorgeous! Charlie Larkin
  9. I must say, that did come out very nicely, both Tom's mastering, Kevin's molding, and Tom's modeling! Once I have some more money, I'm ordering one. Charlie Larkin
  10. Thanks! Just for giggles, I calculated up the approximate measures: 28-17/32" L x 12-23/32" D x 6-15/16" H. Certainly not small, but what an impact! Charlie Larkin
  11. I'm surprised it was that many. Lee- GREAT build! It's nice to see so much detail lavished on such a pedestrian car. Charlie Larkin
  12. That's a great build, Larry. Would you happen to have an unbuilt '51 Chevy floating around so we can see some of the changes made a little more clearly? Or at least the back from a few different angles of your Olds. Charlie Larkin
  13. Good-looking car, Mike. I think I've heard the movie mentioned in passing before, so I might go check it out just for giggles. Charlie Larkin
  14. Although I championed the blue interior, that combination looks really nice, and the interior itself came out spectacular. Charlie Larkin
  15. Even recaps of your work are a delight to behold. Charlie Larkin
  16. Good news indeed. Best wishes on your new home. Charlie Larkin
  17. Gee, I just used the horrible heat and humidity of the last two weeks as an excuse for not sleeping well. Charlie Larkin
  18. In my opinion, he was the only truly worthy successor to the great Jerry Orbach on Law & Order. He was also on a short-lived comedy I remember that I used to howl with laughter at. Blood clots are a very serious thing- my mother has them and they can be very sneaky. Unfortunately, they're almost impossible to stop, but you can help by watching your intake of certain things, like vitamin K, which promotes clotting. Charlie Larkin
  19. So Missing Link has corrected taillamps? Cool. That makes this an easy "yes" purchase. Charlie Larkin
  20. Another nice project, Ron. I like Madeira Maroon with either a black or whatever they offered for a saddle/bucksin/tan/fawn/gold interior that year. That color just looks good on the big Chevies or that period. A favorite combination of mine, regardless of car, because it looks good on almost all of them, is black with a red interior, too. Charlie Larkin
  21. Cool, Ron. I like the dark blue myself. Charlie Larkin
  22. The Bandit kit looks like the old R&D Unique model, which I remember hearing was a very nice model. Good to know that exists, as I never had a chance to get one when R&D was operating. Charlie Larkin
  23. I'll be getting one of these. I like AMCs, and I have a feeling a lot of those 258s are going to end up in a lot of other builds. Charlie Larkin
  24. I'm going to be squirting some red paint- well, actually, Garnet Maroon, on my '50 Olds, and I've been doing some reading regarding primer colors. Previously, under some Honduras Maroon on another build, I had used oxide red primer, after discovering that gray primer on other parts and builds resulted in a very blunted, unattractive color. The oxide red produced a nice color and looked really good. However, some people I've talked to suggest using white primer under reds is the better way to go. I'm wondering if, like other colors, the choice of primer color should be dictated by the intended final color- in other words, a brighter red perhaps would look best over white primer, and maroons, burgundies, and darker red work well over oxide red primer. Thoughts? Charlie Larkin
  25. Interesting tip. I always found 70% alcohol worked well, too, but it tended to blunt the gloss. I might try some lacquer thinner next time I have something I'm starting from scratch with the Tamiya paint. Charlie Larkin
