Yellow tree from new amt kit
charlie8575 replied to MrMiles's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It's not far removed from Cosmoline...or Pam, for that matter. And both will stain with a yellowish color, so even if it's clean, it may be discolored. Keep that in mind. Charlie Larkin -
One of my friend's dads drove for Overnite. Nice job on all of this. Charlie Larkin

Yellow tree from new amt kit
charlie8575 replied to MrMiles's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I agree with Dave. Take a couple of pieces of the sprue frame, and see if it takes glue acceptably. If it does, you'll probably be okay. I would advise washing all the parts first, though, to make sure it's not mould release or something like that. Charlie Larkin -
It's been a very interesting last few days, to say the least. I went to send a message to some friends in a group chat, and when my Messenger logged out, wouldn't recognize my password or phone number, and then I saw the notification that everything was changed, my displeasure was quite strong. The account recovery didn't work, and I'm not sure what to do with it. A couple of friends of mine have been watching things, and I've been advising them to report it as hacked/stolen/whatever is appropriate, and if you're friends with me on Favebook, I encourage you to do likewise. Once I have a new account established, I'll let everyone know in some way/shape form. Charlie Larkin

Definitely a Bronco. The Grand Prix and Citation should materialize as 1/25 kits. I want the Voyager, but I can't find any of the minivans anywhere. May have to just pay eBay scalpers. I'd like to see the Voyager/Caravan as a kit, too. Charlie Larkin

I wonder if the passenger-side sink mark would fill in nicely with the brush-on Mr. Surfacer? Does anyone have a picture of the driver's-side sink mark? Charlie Larkin

Tamiya and Revell both make transparent red paint. Paint both the inside and outside of the lens with it for a little extra depth, white for the backup lights, and then paint the back of the red area with aluminum for a reflective quality. Charlie Larkin

On both counts, my thoughts exactly. Charlie Larkin

1961 Lincoln Continental convertible restoration
charlie8575 replied to Paul Payne's topic in WIP: Model Cars
The '65 windshield will most likely fit. A 1961 Continental is on my most wanted list...a real one. I have a model to restore somewhere......I really need to start going through my boxes and find stuff, and get it re-organized. I personally like the dark blue and dark green on these. What colors are you thinking? Charlie Larkin -
Review of Revell's new chrome spray paint
charlie8575 replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Impressive overall paintwork. So, to make sure I understand....apply gloss black enamel....chrome paint immediately after while still wet/tacky? I could see if the two more or less fuse, that would become a pretty tough coating. Curious, have you tried drying this combination in a dehydrator? I ask because Testors gloss black is well known to take an eternity to dry, and in some cases, doesn't quite seem to. That said, knowing this, I'd probably stick with Humbrol or Revell enamel, as those do actually dry. Charlie Larkin -
Looks like a very faded Peacock Blue car stuck in a barn for a long time. Nice job. Charlie Larkin

That came out nicely. Charlie Larkin

AMT will send you one; cut out the UPC from the box, enclose a cheque for $5 (I believe it's still that) for postage, and mail it to them. Charlie Larkin

Review of Revell's new chrome spray paint
charlie8575 replied to Monty's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Point of information. Is this what you're referring to by "Super Silver?" This was the closest thing I could find doing a search. https://www.ebay.com/itm/225042115327?mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&campid=5338765313&toolid=20006&customid=c9a71bc918180a0df165c2b17f343e3f Charlie Larkin -
I built my Model King one sort of promo-style. For whatever reason, I wasn't feeling up to the foiling, etc. I think I was having trouble with that sheet I had, and didn't want to deal with it. I'll get another one. For interest...the sport coupe came with buckets in black. The convertible could be black or white...and a white bench could be ordered. It would therefore have been, at least in theory, be possible to order a white interior by special order using the convertible front seats, and the door/quarter panels and rear seat from a bench-seat sport coupe. I think I might do the turquoise this time, with a white interior. Charlie Larkin

The Big Dooley definitely. Might grab a Jeep or a Bronco. The Fleetline is a good chance. I'm not quite sure where mine is. Charlie Larkin

No talk about the Round2 1971 Dodge Demon ?
charlie8575 replied to gtx6970's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I thought the Demon looked really good on the table. I'm definitely going to get one, maybe two. Charlie Larkin -
I like the box-art. Nice painting of the St. Louis skyline. As much of a mess as St. Louis is said to be these days, I'd still like to visit sometime for good BBQ and see if I can find a good blues show somewhere. May grab one of these. Charlie Larkin
