AMT 1/25 2021 Bronco First Edition

To make the model a little better from a content standpoint, may I suggest adding a painting guide, particularly with the correct colors, to the instruction sheet? Charlie Larkin -

Interesting...no mention of the First Edition, which the kit depicts. Charlie Larkin -
Okey made it? I didn't even see him. Maybe just as well. I was a little tight this year...work slowed waaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy down the last couple of months, and my taxes turned into a nightmare, so I had to file an extension until I can sit down with a friend of mine who's a CPA and see if we can figure out what I did/'nt. Just finished my first diorama! Asbury, NJ streets!

This is very nicely-done. That manhole cover.....wow. I didn't see it addressed anywhere, 3-D print or carved? Either way, fantastic little detail. I hope you consider bringing it to NNL-East, as you're not too far away. I think this will be well-received. Charlie Larkin -
Very realistic. Creative way to recreate...stuff. Yeah, we'll go with stuff. Charlie Larkin

I like the idea of using tiles for the wall. Nice work. Charlie Larkin

AMT 1960 3-in-1 Ford F-100 Pickup Truck

Hey, the fizz bizz is good money. And you are probably not wrong at some point along the line. Charlie Larkin -
I've used Dupli-Color, Plasti-Kote (when I could find it), and Tamiya primer under MCW paints. All work nicely. And yes, priming is a must. Lacquer likes to go on a little wet, so slightly heavier than mist coats, without being too heavy, Make a couple of passes on some sprue to get a feel. Charlie Larkin

Well, the Corian will weight it nicely, given the high center of gravity... This was a fantastic job, Kurt. Where I'd do a more stock truck....I wonder how the AMT '50 Chevy or '53 Ford chassis would work under this? Did I read correctly that you said this scales out to a 3/4 ton, given the box size? This could be an interesting. The Unibody does come to mind, but for something this rapidly-produced, I'm betting on a variant of the '60. Unless, of course, we get something completely out of left field, like a similar-vintage Dodge or International, done to the simplified kit/high-detail modern mould model we're seeing now. Very well done. Charlie Larkin

I never use Rust-Oleum on plastic, far too strong. If I need a paint that isn't model paint, I stick with Krylon, and I always prime under it with a known plastic-safe primer. Charlie Larkin

Somehow, I missed this earlier...hey only two years, but whatever. Still have a couple of things I'm working on. Send me a message on Facebook, and we can talk. Oh, and my '55. Yeah, she isn't pretty...yet. But how could I pass up pink/white/black and a V8/overdrive? Charlie Larkin

That's an interesting thought. Based on that photo, I'd say it's a reasonable bet. Charlie Larkin- 216 replies

I had a serious body issue with the last issue (my fault). I hope they clean up the mould a little, because trying to correct that is what made the mess. Otherwise, I think I know how to avoid it. I wonder if there's a readily-available resin body I could use the undercarriage for from the '04 issue? Charlie Larkin

I happen to like 1940-'48 Mopars, so I have a bunch of Plymouths. I can certainly use a chassis. To answer a couple of wags, the Plymouths were used because the parts were the same on literally millions of cars, from the mid 1930s into the early 1950s, even the suspension parts, and the bulk of the engine until 1959, so parts availability wasn't a big deal; they were also very inexpensive to buy used, so the Powells bought them by the dozens through newspaper ads, and I believe working with a few dealers. Wouldn't shock me if a few chassis were bought out of the yard, either. The other reason the Plymouth was chosen was of all the low-priced cars, they had, by far, the strongest frame. I really hope this works well for Okey. I plan to get one. Charlie Larkin
