One would think the MPC #71 K&K Insurance kit and the #22 Brooks kit would be the same as both are '69 Charger Daytona's and meant to be NASCAR race cars, but no...the K&K Insurance kit has the same basic stock chassis from any of their Charger kits with some bits to make it look more like a race car and the Brooks kit has the generic NASCAR chassis they used on other NASCAR kits...so none are really correct. Bill Elliott transporter questions
Force replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It depends on what you mean with correct, the trailers used might be modified moving vans and the look is close to the AMT kit, but the AMT Trailmobile Moving Van dates back to 1972 and I don't think the trailers they used in the late 80's and early 90's had the same four side door layout (two on each side) and leaf spring suspension the old AMT kit has, so it's kind of outdated in that department. I would guess the trailers they used by then had side door/doors on the right side, none on the left as they are not needed, and a lift gate in the back and not the long ramps that are in the kits, they also most likely had air ride suspension for a smoother ride. Featherlite Trailers delivered the first specially built race car transport trailer to Richard Childress racing in the early 90's for the #3 Earnhardt car and after that many teams left the old moving van trailers and changed over to them, now there are a couple manufacturers on the market but I think Featherlite is the most common in the pits among the more established teams in NASCAR as it's the "NASCAR Official Trailer", and they are widely used in NHRA and other racing series. Another adjucated guess is that they hauled two cars in the trailer back then as they do today, the teams have a spare car to use if you crash the primary car beyond repair in training and qualifying, otherwise you wouldn't have a car to race on race day...but that's a guess. -
Is this the K-member you are talking about? Here is one from Richard Petty's car. Under the No 71 K&K insurance car or if it was the No 6 Cotton Owens car.

63 Ford Galaxie chassis
Force replied to djflyer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Well you have to consider when the model kit itself was made. The 1963 is a newer model year but the kit was made way back in the 60's together with the Promos and was available as a Convertible, "Box Top" Hard Top and "Fast Back" Hard Top wich is the kit we have today, it still has the Convertible interior tub as the rear side panels are wrong for the hard tops. The 1960 Starliner kit in the picture above is developed in the late 90's and one of the last kits AMT did before RC2 (Racing Champions) and later Round 2 (current owner) took over, and it's one of the best out there in my opinion with very nice detail and this kit has lots of good parts for early FE engines. My wish is that Round 2 would tool up new 1961, 1963 and 1964 Galaxie bodys and interiors based on the 1960 Starliner tooling because the age of the earlier kits is showing and they are not that accurate and has never been, the '64 Galaxie kit we have today is in fact an unassembled promo. -
I believe I have this issue covered as a fellow modeler offered to help me doing a 3D CAD drawing and 3D print of the poverty caps I'm looking for.

63 Ford Galaxie chassis
Force replied to djflyer's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes, it will fit with slight modifications, use the whole chassis including complete drive train and floorboard. -
looks to be 22" for both seasons.
-
It's not unlikely.
-
Yes it looks like it, if you look closely you can read "RADI" behind the LLC/Squawtyna Films LLC text. The trucks for season 2 were 1975 models and had the tires in the picture above, the trucks for season 1 were 1974 and they had the more agressive tread pattern in the earlier picture, wich can be Good Year Bias Ply tires.

Making an Ardun engine a regular flat Head
Force replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
The 1939-48 59AB and 1949-53 8BA/8CM should have 24 studs or bolts for the heads, the model manufacturers haven't allways done this correct as some kit heads of these engines only have 21 wich is only right for the first version from 1932-38. -

Aussie Kenworth K200
Force replied to ARTEMIS1759's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Pavel does nice truck kits of interesting subjects But unfortunately he does them in batches (I don't know how many in each batch) as I understand it, wich sells out fast, and when they are sold out he will not make any more so when they are gone, they are gone. And he doesn't sell individual parts...I asked him a while ago as I need a Page & Page 60/40 rear suspension for a project wich he did for his Kenworth Bullnose kit and I think in the Peterbilt 351 kit in the picture above also have that suspension...I'm not sure tho'. -
KENWORTH K100 AERODYNE
Force replied to CRUSADER2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The regular K100 had the same dash as in the kits, but as they are Aerodyne Cab Overs they should have the "Aerodyne dash" wich came with the Aerodyne cab in 1976, the regular flat top K100 later got this dash too. -
Aussie Kenworth K200
Force replied to ARTEMIS1759's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The K200 Aerodyne is 109.99 Euro on their website. You might also like to have a bull bar and stone guard for 9.99 Euro, rear fenders for 11.99 Euro, A&N has a KW Air Glide 400 kit now wich will be right for this truck and it's 24.95 Euro, a Cummins X15 for 17.31 Euro, you might also need some rims 1.23 X 10 = 12.30 euro, tires 2.15 X 8 for rear = 17.20 Euro, and 2.23 X 2 for front = 4.46 Euro, front hubs with caps 1.99 Euro. Let's see, 109.99 + 9.99 + 11.99 + 24.95 + 17.31 + 12.30 + 17.20 + 4.46 + 1,99 = 210.18 Euro (around $238.30 US, $335.52 AUS) just for cab kit and parts, on that the shipping...and you still need a donor kit for the chassis and some other parts....ohh boy, it adds up. But after what I have seen it looks to be a very nice model. A&N also has a K200 flat top now for 104.99 Euro -
KENWORTH K100 AERODYNE
Force replied to CRUSADER2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't have a problem with the separate roof section the Revell kits has, if you don't want it as a loose piece just glue it down on the cab and it will stay there. There are other issues with the Revell kit I don't like that much. -
I think they are Good Year tires, model...I don't know.

KENWORTH K100 AERODYNE
Force replied to CRUSADER2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Both are decent, the Revell kit has a Cummins NTC475 and manual transmission, the AMT kit has a Detroit Diesel 8V-92 with an Allison automatic...and as been said, the Revell kit is more detailed. But none of them has the correct interior if you want to do a Bicentennial Edition as both have diamond tufted interiors, the Bicentennial doesn't have that, the interior in them has a combination of rosewood and blue fabric with some white, red and blue vinyl accents here and there...and as Phil says, none of them has the correct Aerodyne dash wich came with the Aerodyne cab in 1976. I believe Revell did the roof separate as they use the same basic kit for both the K100 Flat Top and K100 Aerodyne and the roof section is the only thing different. -
Maybe Round2 got paid by Coca Cola to use the logo on their kits, Coca Cola Company spends around $4 billion per year on advertising globaly so I don't think it's impossible.

Help identifying a resin KW
Force replied to Sam I Am's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
They are also called SAR -
Yes I know, I contacted him a while ago but the kit was out of stock and he didn't want to sell individual parts. He said he would get back to me when the kits came back in stock but I have not heard from him since so I assume they are still out of stock. But Rico contacted me about a week ago and said he could do them for me if I had patience, so I shot lots of reference pictures for him with measurements so he can do them right.

Okay. It might not be that exact hauler but I know Junior Johnson used Peterbilts many years. -
Looking really good Rico, I've got more pictures for you as I promised and they are uploaded to my Fotki, I sent you a message with the link. I will also get several sets of these when they are done.
