Re-releases
1930fordpickup replied to Alix Bernard's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As time flies by it is more than likely longer than I think it was. For a few years after the releases were out at the Toledo toy show and the Detroit show. LIke 2 or 3 here and there. The normal stack of newer kits. -
Re-releases
1930fordpickup replied to Alix Bernard's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I walked by more than one stack of those 59's for an average not that long ago, but the Comets seems to spike not long after the dealers did not have any more on hand. Glad I got one of those. -
I agree with the others , looks good and better with glass.

I recall in one of the magazines in the 90's was a picture of a collection box for old spru at a contest. They did mention why it was there but I do not remember the caption. -

Why not have a Hemi?
1930fordpickup replied to heyjohnxx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That makes more sense Wayne, and thanks for the new info. -
Bill that limited drive time in the Electric car is what I detest. When Detroit Electric made electric cars in the early 1900's they could go as far as the new electric cars that came out less than 10 years ago. How is this even a break through? I can not get off work on friday jump into a tesla and drive 13 hours to your house straight through and go to the local Model Show with you if this becomes the norm. I can do it now in my F150 and went all the way to Daytona in a 1966 Cadillac Hearse back in 1988. That caddy had a 16 gallon tank or less, what a pain. It was a pain but just had to refill more often, not a 3 to 4 hour recharge wait though.

Why not have a Hemi?
1930fordpickup replied to heyjohnxx's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
As I was told by a tractor puller one time, it is all about the r&d that makes people choose the engines they use. So much money was put into the Hemi but it was for drag racing two different animals when talking about engine life on a track that has to last more than 2 minutes running from start to finish with most of that time not a full throttle. Reading an interview from Connie Colletta he said the same thing about the S.O.H.C. 427 with drag racing. It was designed for N.A.S.C.A.R. not N.R.A. Wayne not all big block Chevy's are aluminum in fact very few from the factory were. Aluminum heads was an option though. I am by no means an expert on this just from what I have read and talked to the people that have and run this stuff. -

building drag cars help?
1930fordpickup replied to mad mexican's topic in Welcome! Introduce Yourself
Chris if you look at the threads it the drag racing section you will pick up tips along the way. Take some time and read through them and look in the tips and how to sections also. Good luck and keep plugging along. They all don't look like a million bucks every time. Start slow and add as you get better. -
Guess where I'll be next weekend...
1930fordpickup replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
That would be awesome. They fly out of Willow Run just west of Detroit sometimes. While at Dad's house they fly over several times a day when they are headed back to the airport. You can hear it from a long way out. Enjoy the ride Bill. -
When I went to the Toledo store Thursday they had Fruit Wagon, 53 and 63 Vettes, Tee dune buggy, C cab T and the Jaw Breaker. I went back Friday to only Dune Buggy's. I was wanting another Fruit Wagon. should have grabbed 3 or 4 when I was there Thursday. Monroe MI Store ( which looked like a store after black Friday) did not have much but they had the x wing kits left.

The marketing/SPAM calls are getting weirder!
1930fordpickup replied to peteski's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
I have a few friends that are Farmers. They time to burn throughout the year here and there. The one loves to talk to these people and harasses them back. One was home improvement company that wanted to give him free quotes for siding and a new roof. They get to his house and ask him why he wanted to put siding on his brick house and cover slate roof. He responded I did not want to, you wanted to give me a free quote. He tells the window person he has no windows or waits for the full talk up and says I will ask my landLord. -
Snake is correct about having them stand on their head. If you look at the link they package them to hang that way. I do believe it says that on the marker or the packaging.
