Revell Reissued 57 Chevy Black Widow wrong body ?
keyser replied to kingiguana's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Geez Bill, I've got one for that and a bash with the 57 snap HT. The Nomad roof/chassis gets the 57 body bits, and the Belair sedan CW chassis goes under the snap HT. I wonder if all the $ spent fixing this will be less $ than a round trip ticket and a weeks lodging in China? -
I've got a Revell Gr4 Stratos, one in a Lodela box, one in a huge flat box. Full detail, decent body, maybe a little coarse. Wheels look a bit small. 80's box art on Lodela it seems. Nothing like the Italeri/Esci/Nitto. Full engine. IIRC open deck louvers. No pics at hand, has this ever been reissued? Until the Hase and Fuj issues, it was the best out there.
-
The Stratos was also issued as a Nitto in Alitalia Logo, and Esci in several, including the black Pirelli logo. Curbside but body, wheels, and interior ok. Need to smooth a few things out. It can only be built as a wide body Gr4. The Hasegawa is nice kit, body is a strada with add on flares. zi actually think the Italeri rear wheels look better. Their strada version is nice. Fujimi Stratos is great, but I only have strada. I don't recall them ever doing a Gr4 widebody, did Fujimi? Here's nice pic of strada and Gr4 Strati, with Stratos 0 in background on L PS, JC, please leave a Mk II Escort for me?

Auto World 1961 License Plates

At this point, a good scan and touchups of inevitable yellowing would be awesome start. Good P-shop work could flip colors and years, print sheet on clear adhesive backed mylar, and boom. Never understood why this hasn't happened, but OK. -
Round 2 February 2017 Product Spotlight
keyser replied to MrObsessive's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
True, but not great subliminal branding showing very popular kits that R2 does not offer while releasing new reissues. One quick case of recent offerings and big sellers for staged video would take what, 5 minutes? Devil and marketing in details. I laughed for a couple minutes about this. Inauspicious response. Closed boxes better than visible product. Always remember the Automaker sponsored shows where the heroes drove their brand, and the bad guys always drove Brand X. Those were hysterical. -
Round 2 February 2017 Product Spotlight

Pretty funny that all kits behind him are RM. Thx Bill. -
I forgot about the air cleaner, I put it in with a Race Hemi project. Found the Cuda, they called it a 68. Pretty awesome box art build. I regretted not buying it to this day.
-
Hmmm, a R2 direct issue like Streetle Beetle? Casey, your pipeline seems good! That intake looks like the Vending Machine IIRC. Showrods always fun. Wonder if Casper's Paddy Wagon bits rattling around, chassis bits, albeit wrong, are under the Fire Truck. Thanks for the info. One Armed Bandit would be nice short run too. I never found a builder Lots of Dream Rod bits, same as Ice Cream Truck. http://www.showrods.com/gallery_pages/one_armed_bandit2.html Dave Armstrong build below

Didn't know that! 3 issues I'm aware of, Connoseuir Classics, Bearcats TV car, and a Red Stutz issue, Engine really cool, cast would be great rat rod motor. If only they kitted a DV32, or a Mercer.
-
That was really cool box art, cannot find pic. White car with red white and blue graphics, stars IIRC. It and Charger were best in bunch, +10000 on the restoration of Mako Shark II, with trailer.

Nice thing is, if you have model shows in range, these sell for nothing. $15 common, 5-10 if you buy multiples. I love these things, and AAM cast some great bodies mastered by Lee Baker for Duesies and Cords I was fortunate to buy new. Cord Beverly 4 door, Sportsman Roadster, and 5 diff Duesies. The MPC's are really nice too, as are Johans. The Imperial CG is gorgeous built. Lindberg SSK and Royale are the best cars they ever did, and Italeri does nice stuff that's cheap in Testors boxing. The MPC Stutz is nice, more scarce. Hellers are fiddly, but nice. Their 500K Special Roadster is the best out there, I stuffed a Monogram chassis under mine as it's less fiddly and has more strength. These are about the only kits I have lots of dupes. Fun to build PS Dave, great build of a sow's ear. Makes me want to get one and bash it with a 48 Ford Custom, fadeaways, Carson, and swap rear deck. Caddy or Olds grille, and Packard tails.

The Acetone and the torch is not going to improve situation. If anything, it'll make it worse. Acetone trashes plastic. Heat warps it. Purple power will strip it, but my guess is body is toast. Send UPC. That said, I've not always had nice responses from Revell. I had gift kit that was off eBay. Rep insisted on receipt, despite telling her it was gift. Acted like I stole the thing. Same thing happened with Hasegawa on a short shot that I sent pictures. Mostly decent service though. Some employed people need to be unemployed if they're so unhappy.
-
Robert, it's a great kit. Lots cheaper than the original. Consider the Greyhound Scenicruiser repop. First thing I get from my CPA is an itemized time bill. Every single encounter including calls to minions. Same with my attorneys, and auto repair. Expertise and knowledge isn't free. Your market is the resin buyer, and car modelers are cheap, but resin buyers usually aren't. Sci-fi guys readily pay for quality. Dave, sell? tell me more of this "sell" you speak of? Your 300ZX was nice.

B&S Duesies some of the worst? Some of their work wasn't great. But see below. Mudd Coupe J212 J509 Murphy, I agree. Clear Vision Sedan. Brand new. Blackwalls. Polished alloy sweep, early grille. Low keyed and stunning.

If you look at the Judkins, a favorite of mine BTW, the rear is low between top of RF and deck. Cowl pretty thick on the Deuce as well. I think it'd be easier "Deucifying" a 28 Lincoln Roadster (AMT/MPC, common, cheap). It was Judkins, was basis for Lee Baker's master of the Duesy above for Art Anderson ages ago. Same scale, and gives you template. You could mod Deuce fenders, use 2 32's and a Lincoln. Here's 30 Judkins Lincoln coupe for comparo. Bottom pic is what Lincoln roadster depicts. Easier to graft bits than chop, lengthen, section perhaps. Found a nice pic of J137 not over-restored. Maroon resto has way too much chrome, not all high end cars came with whitewalls. This has look of a rod in some ways, and a great looking car no matter what level of restoration

Original 1940 Willys pickup street rod t184
keyser replied to Drqke95's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
$4000? Bwahahahahahahahaha Try this for $2100 http://www.ebay.com/itm/1940-Willys-Americar-MAKE-A-GASSER-/112272859525?forcerrptr=true&hash=item1a23fbe185:g:-b8AAOSw241YfZ4x&item=112272859525 Your issue is IIRC the small box one from 76. Mean Machine was a dual kit in Street Rods series from 73-74 This issue is recent and dirt cheap. Both bodies and the best box art for the kit ever. Easily available on eBay < $20 -

AMT Surf Woody Has anyone built one?
keyser replied to PatW's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Iconic. -
Fronty for T 4 is in AMT 27 T touring. Unaware of any for 8, never saw a 1:1, did they do them? IMO don't do SBC in that bunch. Injected early Olds/Caddy/Nailhead, or Scot on the Ardun. Potvins cool, maybe early Hemi? Red Ram from A kit and bits from Double Dragster AMT's? Like the idea, I've got a ton of engines sitting around. If I get some done, I'll get matching cars done too.
