I use Ad Block, zero ads. I posted what you need to do to fix your browser. 403 warnings are sign of BADNESS to come. It's not a server, it's not a moon phase. Richard, you need to fix the problem, or you'll be screwed. Use ad blocker, they're free. Bill posted good one I use. God, why do I even post links, or a gd thing. Must be on universal ignore. Perils of being an ah I guess. Hiya Bob, I owe you text.

2 separate issues. The Superbug Gasser was issued first as shortened Beetle sharing Manx and TeeVee buggy chassis. Last one seen was the Streetle Beetle with the 40 nose only, and a hump tire on rear deck. The yellow body below is the shorty body. The red body is a stock Beetle, not AMT

Johan? What? Huh? This cannot be real.

Flyer says $35. The 59 Dodge says Not Cheap. Oh well. Didn't Moebius show a 59 Dodge a year or so back? Found it http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/topic/95288-moebius-models-59-dodge-chrysler-turbine-car/#comment-1295859 And here http://www.scalemodelnews.com/2014/10/marvels-from-moebius-sneak-peek-at-2014.html -
Wow, that hand grenade looks awful I haven't been to Toledo in decades, was great show, went with Terry Jessee one year, had a lot of fun. MAMA meet was good, the Oakland show was good too. Couple of the San Diego meets were nice. Never been to ATL, I guess I should go. Chicago Toy shows any good anymore? Modelhaus will be missed for anyone that restores builders. It was nice to buy something that needed a few things and get them from Don and Carol, or some of the great kits they did that nobody else would. Going to be a LOT harder to restore/restomod kits and gluebombs now. Plus the huge tire line, the custom parts, the weird stuff. And most of all, the quality, and Don and Carol. I've posted about attracting younger people to the hobby, and the Ford snaps that Revell does. Got roundly shouted down, ironically from old guys. I guess the no smart-phone/crank start cars/hygieneopenic folks seen at many swap meets are the future of the hobby. Going to be a big crater, just for the Hoverrounds alone

I don't have any ads. It's your browser not the site. It's a browser add on virus. Malwarebytes is great, but run Kaspersky first, do exactly what link tells you. https://malwaretips.com/blogs/remove-browser-redirect-virus/ Run in Safe Mode if possible. Save programs to desktop so easier to get to.

1968 Chevrolet El Camino SS Soap Box Derby II
keyser replied to regular guy's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Hey, no apology necessary. Easy to miss. Has good info on original issue. Orig issue was lid I posted from other thread. It was the second boxing of the '69 El Camino that we haven't seen since. It had unpainted Rallyes and the Americans that have been in jillions of kits. Same as the 69 Chevell convert recently re-issued. The new issue is a '68, new tool (probably 15yo now ) -

I had no idea but the tires always looked small to me. So, I looked. Geez, small! F70-14 on 383 RR, F70-15 on Hemi RR. http://www.hemmings.com/magazine/mus/2011/11/1968--69-Plymouth-Road-Runner/3705571.html Hemi, drums, and F70's. Surprising ANY of these things survived, alone the owners. Add sweet alignment geometry from shackles and period tires heat cycled to death, and fun times.

Art, was that 192 AD, or BC? I could believe either I don't think the Ford or Iowa are that old though...

We all know Bill would have accurate latches, and key the locks. Key buzzer would slow him down, but he'd get it. That was a really nice build BTW. Big scale that looks good is a hard thing to do. Why I don't try. But then, I don't finish much lately Those were nice looking cars, have aged really well. Better than I expected, far better than the next design. Holds for the Mustang too in my eyes. How's your eyesight Bill?? Better??

Can anybody identify this
keyser replied to junkyardjeff's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Strombecker I'm pretty sure. Pic was on my Scarab and DBR-1 boxes with an MGA and it. Here's quick google pic.Nice find, Bigger than 1/24 I'm guessing? -
I thought they were crude and disappointing when I was 5. Tools from 50+ yrs ago.

I found this buried in a Vette Mako forum: "The closest color codes i can tell you for the Mako you are talking about is a 1995 GMC TRUCK color called "Sapphire Black Pearl". That is the "Metal flake" you saw. Spray multiple coats at the very top, and eventually you'll get to a black look. Only under direct sunlight will you actually see a blue hue to it. From there down, you can mix and match by adding white, or by thinning the color coat till you see blue. If you use LITE GREY PRIMER....." Rest of quote was about primer and amounts of paint, rather than the grey. The pre-painted AMT Mako I's probably will help too.

i don't have my re-ish handy but here's real thing. Not symmetric, LHD probably induced them to put on R side for Tiger, likely most LHD. I don't recall noticing a RHD Tiger, actually. You may want to test fit ignoring the piece too, or fiddling with scrap plastic for pad mount. The top of the carb looks like it ends up just below the point where the top rests on the cowl. Make it look like the 1:1, it's so tight in there you'll never see it. I'm sure someone will comment this has been posted elsewhere here, or it doesn't look like real weathering

To the Rapture? Cool, won't have to share . I'll be hanging out with all the leftover empty cars. Funny, interesting links get posted, and someone either complains it's been posted, old news, yadayada, or has a "yeah but" comment. That seems more passive aggressive than pointing it out. The opinion was more important than the info in the link, or the age of the post. Google it up, kids. It's a waste of electrons posting. Everyone has all this technique thing down. Nothing to see here, move along.

No problem. You posted a model pointing out some features we missed in my photo anyway

I know they're 2 diff cars. The side pipes didn't make it, but wish they had. Hence post. I assumed many people had never seen the styling buck, and it is interesting. The Mako was rebuilt into the Manta per Chuck Jordan. Has ZL1 hood bulge badges well before engine announced. If you look at Mako I and II in pic, and Manta and Mako I, and you can see the chop, couple inches easy. I think I just need to stop posting this stuff. Sorry.

Guess I missed all those. Never asked for false praise. Just not being rude. I heard you have cancer, sorry. My wife is 5 years in with stage 4, and I'm 4 years in with LGL leukemia, 13 diff chemos, had maintenance today as every Tuesday. We discussed that once, you said "who cares?" or equivalent. You may want to get a whole lot more positive/tolerant, and care a h3ll of a lot more about others. Or your life will be long and miserable. Your choice. I get the "Big Picture" that matters.

I'm glad Paul sells nice builds. What's the alternative? Franklin, Danbury dead, and won't do a Marquis Colony Park even if they weren't. I'm sure someone here (Harry) will weigh in on all Paul's failings. The nice thing about this thread is most of us are happy Mr. Hettick does well. He also has mastered stuff for Don Holthaus, so nobody can claim he's a kit assembler. No reason to be critical of successes you don't like. You life may contain successes you don't want or like either. Careful what you wish for, you may get it

Here's evolution of Mako II into Manta Ray 2 There was a side-pipe version of the Mako II that has finned look the kit full pipes have. I love those, wish they could tool those plus original exhaust, fix a few little things, and give us a fade decal for a re-issue.

The street rod version I guess had mini-tubs? I never had one, Did street rod still have vinyl top (I hope not)? I have stock issue and the top and sink mark made me look at it, sigh, and put it back in box. I have original issue (non-soap box). Rest of tool looked really nice though.

Yeah I said same on page 1. Mine had the compact whitewalls in it. Those backing plates don't fit any of the later tires really at all. I was talking about the Tiger re-issue.
