I'm certain that they know exactly what is and what isn't in the tool.

Candy Brandywine...
pack rat replied to Straightliner59's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here are two painted with Tamiya TS-74 clear red. The '60 Olds is over TS-42 light gunmetal and the GTO is over TS-38 gunmetal. -
PMC 1959 Ford Ranch Wagon Restoration with modifications.
pack rat replied to rsmodels's topic in Model Cars
I love this one! Now I'm really wishing I had a PMC wagon (and a Ranchero). -
Hubley 1/24 1960 Ford Mayberry Police Car -restoration

Well done! Nice collection of Hubley Fords too. -
Beautiful, and love the color. Whatever you don't like about it, I don't see it. Looks perfect to me.

I had this SSP Monogram '30 Model A sitting on the shelf and thought it would be fun to do a custom/rod version similar to the Blue Beetle, '30 Woody etc as Monogram might have done so back in the '60's. With very little modification the SBC from the '55 Chev/Badman fits like a glove, topped off with Little T chrome bits. Rear mags (I think) are from a Boothill Express and the rest is original Blue Beetle parts, with one or two vintage AMT pieces thrown in. Paint is Tamiya TS-10 French Blue; something Monogram might have chosen if it had issued a molded-in-color version of this kit back then. A simple, but fun build. Now the wheels are turning as I look at my old '30 Phaetons.

They're both beautiful. The young punk version is cool, but to me the green (aqua?) one is perfect

Cousin Bo's '67 GTO....yes, the much hated MPC kit
pack rat replied to roadhawg's topic in Model Cars
Beautiful! Can't recall ever seeing one looking as good as yours. It's refreshing to read an honest appraisal of an old less-than-perfect kit from someone who isn't afraid to put a little effort into building it. I'm sooo tired of the "this kit is junk/MPC is junk" comments out there, most of which are accompanied by a pic of the one I built for Round2 years ago (the blue box art kit...yes, I forgot to remove the "Pontiac" lettering from the taillight panel...it was a quickie build). Like you, I just worked around the flaws; it's not that hard. All of the complainers out there should take a look at yours. -
Thanks, Steve. I was about to research and try and identify them, but I figured someone would jump in and ID them

Here's a pic of the contents for those who may be unfamiliar with the "for 68" Impala. This kit is pretty cool If you're into old-school customs. I would gladly buy a couple more.

Sounds like a logistical nightmare.

No, this isn't the "big" announcement.

One other idea; I had a Craftsman mower that started doing that. I backed the gas cap out about 1/2 turn and it ran like a dream. I figured the vent was clogged.

What hood is this? (Real car, two pics)
pack rat replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I would guess a 70-72 Chevelle SS minus cowl induction (no trap door) Or possibly a '72 Heavy Chevy -
Interesting...the box art shows a '67.

Recent discussion in another thread re these kits inspired me to dig these pics out. I'm the original owner of the '69. I disassembled and restored it 30-some years ago. I purchased the Superfly in a collection of built-ups. When I picked up a can of Testors Electric Pink lacquer at my LHS I figured it was made for this kit so I restored it as a fun, off-the-wall project. The wheels and hood ornament are from the parts box. As discussed in the other thread, I think the stock GP would be a good re-issue subject, although coming up with any marketable building variations aside from factory stock might be tough, which doesn't help it's case. A reissue of the Superfly?......no (just my opinion).

Kit Review! MPC 1966 Chevrolet Corvette Annual!
pack rat replied to RDean58's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The MPC C2 Vettes have a lot going for them, but to me AMT kits look more accurate. My only beef with the MPC body is the elongated front wheel openings. The separate lower front pan can be a bit fiddly to fit properly as well; especially on the later '67 reissues as the tooling got tired. The MPC still looks good on the shelf though. -
AMT The Green Hornet Black Beauty Kit
pack rat replied to martinfan5's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The search is on!! (LOL) -
You just "threw it together"? Could have fooled me....VERY clean build! I guess in some hands it's junk, in others it's a jewel.

The box art image on the box top of the original '68 annual was based on the '68 Super Bee convertible as built by the Alexander brothers and displayed at shows back in '68 by Dodge. I believe it was a modified Coronet 500. The kit included parts to replicate the car, including a supplemental decal sheet with the Super Bee markings in addition to the sheet found in the hardtop. I haven't checked my kit against pics of the 1:1; I'm not sure if MPC missed anything. The upholstery in this pic looks like it doesn't match

This is fascinating! I would think that AMT's decision not to go ahead with this one was a wise choice; the slot car fad was in full swing which might have been putting some pressure on the kit market, MPC was just starting to make it's presence known on the store shelves, and back then a non-Ford street rod was a little out there. A very interesting piece of model car history from a guy who truly is a big-time authority on the model car hobby; with all due respect to you as well, Tim.
