  1. Awhile back I picked up a really nasty-looking '62 Ford pickup from a buddy. I figured I could possibly use it for parts; and the price was right (basically free). I was looking at it a couple of months ago thinking it might be fun to see if I could make something decent out of it. After a bunch of body work (way too much) and a few bits from the parts stash it's not a showpiece, but it looks OK on the shelf. Paint is Tamiya TS-26 Pure White and TS-15 Blue (looks pretty close to the factory Corinthian White/Academy Blue).
  2. Re the MPC '67; I have one on the bench right now as a parts donor for a '66 annual restoration. If you pick up one of the later issues be prepared for a few quality-related glitches; flash, sink marks, mold misalignment, chrome that is unevenly applied in some places or flakes off in other areas. Added bonus if you get one with the smoke-tinted windows. No, I'm not saying it's a "lousy kit, don't buy it", just putting out a cautionary note to those who may not be too familiar with this kit as it hasn't been on the shelves for quite a long time. It's from a time when MPC was cranking these oldies out for the Kmarts and Walmarts and quality suffered a bit.
  3. POS or not, you made it look pretty good, Steve.
  4. A cool little part I just found. I'm working on a 70's-style street machine/day 2 muscle car and I just found this period-perfect 8-track player in my parts stash. It's just over 1/4 inch wide (that's a #11 blade it's resting on). I'd like to know what kit(s) might have included this part if anyone out there has any ideas; I might have a couple more of these I don't know about.
  5. I don't understand this so-called "disinformaton". Right from the start, the plan was to take a vintage kit, clone it and re-issue it in vintage-style packaging. That's exactly what they did, and when the kit was announced Round2 stated it was/is all-new tooling. Their choice of the Nova wagon wasn't just pulled out of a hat, and it was apparently a good one based on the kit's popularity.
  6. I don't have a '64 Lemans convertible, but the GTO does have that chrome console piece; it is supposed to be mounted on top of the molded-in console.
  7. Here's the engine/transmission before installation in the above kit with the correct 4-speed and air cleaner. I'm not sure if there is a decal for the air cleaner on production kits. There is also a 4-speed shift lever for the interior, and a little clutch pedal to be installed beside the molded-in brake pedal.
  8. A few swipes of a sanding stick at the back edge of the seat helps too; this took about 15 seconds.
  9. Chiilin' in the hobby room
  10. My Chevy van/AFX slot car from years ago; it was a perfect fit.
  11. The BMF was a pain; I was working with two real bad, wrinkly sheets. The front and rear bumpers are Modelhaus; they came with the kit when I bought it.
  12. It's legit; Round2 has a display kit. I suspect they will publish a teaser pic soon.
  13. Just finished restoring this builtup I picked up at a show awhile back. I was glad to find this one; it completed my collection of Johan 1960 annuals. Paint is Tamiya TS-74 clear red, body, interior, everything; the different shades being determined by the base color. The base color on the body is TS-42 light gunmetal. I didn't have stock hubcaps for it, but I substituted a set of '61 Olds caps from my stash. They're close enough for now.
  14. The buckets are AMT '64 GTO (probably Tempest convertible too; don't have one of those to check).
  15. The MPC Model A Woody/pickup kits; the one pictured is probably the easiest to find.
  16. Some ebay sellers will love it....a screwbottom!!
  17. #4 is found in the Here Comes the Judge '57 T-Bird; possibly other kits as well.
  18. Stock and custom buckets were re-created. You can see the parts in Tim's pics on a section of sprue which is noticeably different than the original bits.
  19. I was referring to the curved line on the hood, very similar to the line on the door of this old green Pinto. Call it crazing or call it something else....it's caused by too-hot paint.
  20. Definitely crazing. I have a few old scrap parts in my stash that look just like that; leftovers from my early experiments with Duplicolor. As mentioned above; sealing with BIN or using a paint that isn't so hot should solve your issue.
  21. Re the decals; my original '64 convertible contains the same sheet as your original, Tim. The Bonny-Ville decal sheet in the new kit appears to be based on the sheet in the '64 Bonneville convertible annual.
  22. The center of the front bumper was altered (slightly) for the funny car, and the headlights were smoothed over to simulate covers. Rather than alter/restore the existing part they tooled up a new piece.
  23. Yes, the clear parts are all new. The windshield on the test shot isn't polished hence the cloudy appearance.
  24. It's the other way around; the grey parts are the new ones.
