Hobbico - BANKRUPT!
Rob Hall replied to niteowl7710's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Maybe Round 3 in the transcript was a typo and it is really Round 2 (which would make a lot of sense), or Round 3 is a shell company hiding the actual bidder... -
Could be a Knapheide also. Looks like a more modern utility bed, thought they would do something 60s style. Though I have no idea what a '60s service bed would look like.

Steve Kohler Star Models

The way I think of the distinction....for 'price point', I tend to think of as a specific point or range in a market in which there a selection of products priced at...i.e...model kits at the $25 price point, jeans at the $50 price point, family sedans at $25k, SUVs around $40k, homes in a suburb at the $250k price point, etc. While I think of 'price' as referring to the price of a specific product--like a Jeep Wrangler Rubicon at $38,995 or a McDonalds Breakfast sandwich at $1.99, or a specific house advertised at $249,990. -
What did you see on the road today?

As far as the Mexico market, I see a few differences. Ford has the international Ranger there, but the US is getting that for 2019. Chevy has the Tornado pickup, which is a FWD Opel car based mini pickup, and the S10, which is an earlier version of the current international Colorado. Ram has the 700, which is a Fiat car-based mini pickup. Toyota has the Hilux which is smaller than the Tacoma.

I would think the '55 sedan and Nomad should get the Retro Deluxe reissue treatment soon.

Revell Chevy Van, Has It Been Reissued?
Rob Hall replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's because it was a Monogram kit originally. Now the custom Revell Chevy van (in the 2nd post above, orange) is 1/25th as it is originally a Revell tool. -
Revell Chevy Van, Has It Been Reissued?
Rob Hall replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Both are early 70s era vans, but the AMT is a long wheelbase, the Revell is a short wheelbase w/ fender flares. -

The Revell '70s Custom Van was reissued in 2000....18 years ago! Time flies... -
New reissue announcement from Round 2
Rob Hall replied to Oldcarfan27's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Looking good. My Dad had a 67 Cougar in Lime Frost w a matching interior. In the late 70s after doing bodywork, he painted it GM Firethorn (a copper-brown). -
Note that the Palmer kit linked to above is 1/32nd. Lindberg reissued that 1/32nd one IIRC, but also had a 1/25th '40 Ford--IIRC they reissued that one back in the oughts w/ the Dodge truck cab and flatbed. Did the 1/25th Lindberg '40 Ford originate with Palmer also?

Incredible Motorcycle Story...
Rob Hall replied to Mike999's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great story...I love the idea of setting out of a road trip with no particular place as the goal, to see and explore. -
Anybody else just bought a Foose Cady for parts ?
Rob Hall replied to 57peppershaker's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I'm kind of thinking the wheels and tires might look good on the '80s Cadillac coupe kit. -
Similar thing happened here a few days ago. Tracking number showed the package was delivered, I was home all day, it was never delivered. Turns out it was left at the same house number two streets over, on a street with a very similar name. I ended up having to go to the house two streets over and get the package (homeowner said they were going to return it to the post office, my mail carrier claimed they had gone there but no one was home). Turns out it was a temporary mail carrier, back to my regular guy now. Checking at the post office, they said the temporary mail carrier .."didn't know their saints"... (the streets in this subdivision are named after Catholic saints). I also still occasionally get mail for the previous owners--over a year after I bought the house.

Nice build. I bought this kit back in the 90s but have never built it. I've had two 1:1 Grand Cherokees--a 2000 Laredo that I put 170k miles on, and a '14 Limited that I bought one year ago today. Alas, no kits of the later generations of Grand Cherokees have been made, though I do have some die cast.

Just a heads up about '58 Edsel.....
Rob Hall replied to JollySipper's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Got one of the new issues in the mail today, has the correct Edsel body. But it says '50 Years of Edsel' on the wrapping. Sloppy, sloppy...Round 2 needs a proofreader for their packaging... -
I don't have the snap kit, but it wouldn't surprise me if Round 2 copied the erroneous grill inserts from the old glue kit..

Vehicles seem on average to have much more interior electronics and creature comforts, safety features, etc than 10-20 years ago. My 1st Jeep was about $29k when I bought it in new 2000. One the same trim level as my old one would be about $35k in 2018, but with way more equipment standard and more options available. The one I bought last year--the same model but one trim level higher---was about $45k new in 2014 (I bought it last year as a 3yr old CPO w/ 25k miles). Way more equipment in the newer one. And about 100 more horsepower, about the same gas mileage. Larger, heavier, more goodies. 8spd vs. 4spd transmission. The old one had 2 airbags, the newer one 8 I think, etc.

The Snap Kit was actually branded as an MPC.

Ok...I see one big typo on the Charger box art..
