  1. Almost got run over by a semi on I-17 yesterday. Had to stop to get pie and relax before continuing on home. Felt like I was in the movie 'Duel' for a few seconds of terror. Coming down the twisty section of I-17 south of Sunset Point, almost got run over by a semi. I think his brakes were cooked from the descent. Squeezed over to left side of the right lane--60 mph traffic in the left lane) so he could go by on the right breakdown lane. He blew past on the right, brake smoke trailing and sparks flying.. Close call, he didn't use his horn I, just looked in the rear view and saw a huge chrome front bearing down.... He kept going w brake smoke trailing then got off at an exit 1/2 mile later.... I went on to the next exit and stopped at the well known Rock Springs Cafe for some pie.
  2. The Smokey Dart was reissued a few years ago..
  3. Saw a clean light blue early 60s Porsche 356 w/ sunroof and red interior this morning in traffic.
  4. Heh-heh..no, thinking more of a sleeper w/ a beefy engine...
  5. It will be interesting to see if the Bronco is a 2n1 w/ an optional version, or what the 2nd release is. I hope the roof is molded separately so it can be done open style. A 1/2 roof would be nice to see down the road, and maybe an off road Baja racer version...
  6. Nothing on the flyer says it's the Easy Glue version. Oh well..not good.
  7. Wow. I've wanted a first gen Bronco forever. I assume the Corvette will be full detail, since they already did the snaps.
  8. I have a set of resin Mopar police steel wheels and dog dish hubcaps I want to use on one...
  9. I do wonder if they have done anything w the tires. IIRC the stock tires in the Volare kits were hard plastic.
  10. 20 years ago when I lived in Ann Arbor, MI, I enjoyed going to Riders Hobbies (one downtown and one in Ypsilanti on Carpenter Road), when I lived in Colorado Springs, Compleat Games and Hobbies was a great place I went to nearly every week... When I lived in Denver, I frequented Colpar Hobbies in Aurora, always had a good selection. There was a place in Greeley I'd take a road trip to visit once a year or so, was pretty good also IIRC. Here in Phoenix, I like Hobby Depot in Tempe, don't get there very often--was there recently and they had remodeled and expanded, but the selection of kits seemed thinner than in the past.
  11. I have one of those also in my stash, along w/ the MPC '68 ht & conv annuals. Also have the Modelhaus '70 Coronet 4dr.
  12. Interesting, this one had been showing as an August release, but they are in stock now at at least one vendor..ordered a couple just now. The MPC '73 Mustang which had been shown for July is now showing as late August.
  13. I've got some parts and several kits on order from them from the last 3 months, I'm sure I'll get them eventually. Hope they can eventually enjoy their retirement. Been a great company to do business with over 25 years...I remember buying from them at their booth at the Toledo Collectors Toy Fair in the 90s.
  14. Haven't seen any of those creepy critters in 8 years living here. Other than geckos in my backyard and the occasional wasp or bug....
  15. Software has been the source of my irkage today. Multiple email, login and network connection issues at my client today.
  16. Got the book Fifty Years of Mustangs: A History of Scale Mustangs today. Kind of a late birthday present to myself. Looks great at first glance.
  17. I saw on Facebook over the weekend a comment from a reputable source that they had been planning to stop taking orders June 30th but that they were going to keep taking mail orders that were postmarked up to today. The website is still up. I put in another order over the past weekend..will miss them when they are gone.
  18. I don't see why it would be surprising, there are sound and rational reasons I wouldn't shop there. But this isn't a forum for political/religious discussion, so I won't get into it here.
  19. actually, there are lots of reasons for not supporting them. I would never shop at Hobby Lobby, I don't 'hate' them, but I won't spend money in their stores.
  20. Maricopa County where I'm at has only has a little over 4.1 milion people in ~9200 sq miles.
  21. They are good for supplies, though...and I enjoy strolling through the aisles occasionally...never know what I'll find.
  22. I've always lived where there are good hobby shops, plus w/ the internet I have no reason to shop at Hobby Lobby.
  23. Yeah, I know about the Monogram ones...I've built a couple issues of those...nice kit. I have the '70s molded in red version and the molded in lt green '80s one.
  24. I have a rough '60 convertible in my collection... I've seen '59s...AMT didn't do a '58 did they?
