  1. Salt corrosion of the frame, I would think..
  2. There is a Sinclair gas station I drive by everyday on the commute and this morning they had their bay doors open, saw a black 48-49 Cadillac and a gold early C3 Corvette convertible inside.
  3. With HLJ, I always go for FedEx so I can track the order and divert the delivery to a local FedEx store, as FedEx always tries to deliver when I'm not at home....
  4. Checked mine, the correct parts were there in each kit.
  5. Neat...that reminds me of a few years ago when I saw a German-plated older Mercedes T-series camper van (Sprinter predecessor) in a Scottsdale parking lot. I suppose it was German tourists that shipped it over for an extended road trip vacation around the US...it was also yellow.
  6. Saw it at Barrett-Jackson a couple years ago...neat car.
  7. Sweet...I'm interested in one of those..
  8. This week on my commute I've seen a black Ferrari 456 parked at the end of a driveway w/ For Sale signs. It's not very often I see a Ferrari parked out w/ For Sale signs...
  9. Don't be dissing those of us with degrees that get the occasionally manipedi....
  10. Saw 'Need for Speed' this past weekend..a character referred to a '68-69 Torino GT as a 'Gran Torino'.. speaking of 'The Rockford Files', I saw one a while back where Jim (under duress from gangsters) drove a then new Lincoln off road and the camera cut to show an early '60s Lincoln..
  11. Definitely springish here..had several days above 80 in the last week.
  12. It's a 40+ yr old Revell kit, so it would be 1/25th... some box art pics of older issues. I've never had one, but I've heard it has some challenges in the fit and the windshield frame is delicate..
  13. Pretty light on car releases for the 2nd quarter...I'll have to get the 914, never had that one. I'm sure the hot rod and rat rod crowds will like the '29 Ford..sounds like it has a lot of options. Too bad there aren't any new modern car tools announced for us modern car fans...--I would certainly like to see a full detail kit of the '15 Mustang, along w/ the updated Challenger and Charger Hellcat versions, Camaro Z/28, Cadillac ATS or CTS (esp. the V-series versions), Corvette Z06, Tesla S, etc..
  14. Carbs don't bother me as they are hidden by the air cleaner usually.
  15. Got the RoG reissue 993 Porsche 911 cabrio and Bentley Blower. Surprisingly, neither kit had Golf Cabrio parts...
  16. That looks pretty nice... is that side trim correct for the Ranchero? The pics I've seen online all seem to have full-length trim w/ the dip (2 variations) or no side trim at all..
  17. I don't know, both my '75s are molded in white. Both my '73s are molded in gold.
  18. 70-71 seems to be when MPC started offering molded in color kits..I have a few..'70 Challenger (purple), '70 Cuda (green), '70 Cyclone (dark red), '71 Cougar (green), 71 Chevelle (orange) ... full size car kits of the '60s-70s are one of my particularly favorite modeling niches, have all the '71-76 MPC Impalas and Caprices, incl. the promos. At least 2 of each year of the kits and a bunch of the '76 reissues..
  19. Won't affect FedEx air shipments from HLJ...
  20. Sweet Impalas..never seen the molded in red '71, both of mine are molded in white..but both of my 72s are in that blue.
  21. Just preordered mine..from my phone....HLJ's system is just so darn easy..
  22. Saw a clean dark red '70 Impala convertible rolling w/ the top down, and drove past the Barrett-Jackson store..on their forecourt they had a yellow Superbird, blue '69 Yenko Camaro, and a goregous black '66-67 Lincoln Continental convertible, top down..
  23. I would assume badging will be done with decals, as that is the typical current practice...
  24. Never noticed any resemblance, other than the pop up headlights, wedgy shape and mid engine layout. I haven't seen an Esprit or Fiero in ages...
  25. I've been involved w/ a few of the local dog rescue groups here in the Phoenix area--donated food and time to them, as well as adopting 6 dogs (3 Yorkies, 1 Aussie terrier from the Maricopa County shelter and 2 small terrier mixes) over the last 3 years (we've had 4 older dogs pass on in the last 3 years). It's been a very rewarding experience to be part of..
