  1. And there was another Testors release of the Cuda in a normal kit box, shown in green on the box art without the HSO parts.
  2. Anyone know when these were released? IIRC, I was seeing them on the shelves in the late 90s, though they may have been old stock. One thing I remember about the Ramblers is this one store I was in had 4 of them on the shelf, opened, and the roof pillars were crushed because the box packing was too tight...
  3. Cool idea...looks like what Camaro DTM car might look like...
  4. Wasn't there a Chevy pickup from around 1990 (labeled as a Boyds custom or something) in this series, or am I thinking of something Testors..it wasn't the AMT tool..
  5. The '69 Rambler was one also IIRC. I have the 442, the metal wheels are pretty nasty..
  6. Easy...98%..mislabeled a '68 Firebird as a '67.
  7. Yeah, my company moved to a bigger office at the edge of the ASU campus about a year ago..before that we were in a loft on Mill Avenue with underground parking. I miss that...I previously had a gig in Scottsdale where I parked 3 floors underground..
  8. I wonder if this will be a one-version only kit or if the stock parts from the 1st issue will be present also. The treaded slicks would make sense for a street/strip style build rather than a trailered drag car, I think.
  9. Heh-heh..but it's a dry heat..only got up to 120 here last summer....I guess we can start a summer weather thread eventually..
  10. I wouldn't mind a bit of snow..supposed to be 88 here Fri-Sat...too soon for this.
  11. Yeah, waiting on that one before I ship from my PW..have 15 items in it incl. the Lambo Veneno that is coming close to 60 days..
  12. Sharp and subtle in the mods...
  13. It's not whining when people are wondering if Revell will correct the body. Do you prefer inaccurate kits?
  14. Without retooling the body, I don't see any point in them reissuing the kit, even with the new drag parts. Oh well..what will be, will be...
  15. Sure, why not? A reissue opens the door for that, esp. if they haven't corrected the body....though I expect Revell won't bother to fix the problem...needs a complete retool of the body to correct all the problems. Looking at the box art, the front tires look too big and the slicks too narrow for a drag car...
  16. Not just with kids, but compared to other adult pastimes (incl. video games--I have plenty of friends my age that are active gamers), like golf, for instance, modeling is very cheap. I've dabbled in golf, tennis, skiing and snowboarding over the last 20 years and to be serious about any of them can be very expensive..
  17. Of course, with Round 2 that same kit may now be available for $24 w/ improved box art...
  18. I would think the 8 spoke wheels would be these from '08. The paint scheme on this one reminds me of the old Eddie Bauer packages they had on the Explorer, Bronco, F-series, etc.
  19. It's probably out of production..it was in production for at least 15 years or more, so it should be pretty easy to find..they are supposed to be coming out w/ a '48 coupe this year.
  20. Maybe the retail kit will have more detail like other Revell Snap Tite kits...features like a detailed (but still one piece) chassis, mirrors, separate headlight lenses--less toy like. From what I've seen, this snap kit is far below the detail level of a typical Revell snap tite kit.
  21. Found this out Friday, but today's the first day of this project--lost my covered parking at work because ASU is ripping up the parking lot and putting in solar cells over the parking spaces..a project for the next 5 months..by the time it gets hot here I'll have to park 1/2 a mile away out in the sun..
  22. The Spengler car is quite sinister looking.
  23. I remember from '89-97 or so, hanging out in rec.models.scale (and rec.toys.cars) on the internet newsgroups...in the pre-web browser days on unix machines I used the 'rn' and 'trn' programs to read the newsgroups in plain text. That was my first communication w/ other modelers online.
  24. Yeah, I see those around here..everything from new 4x4 F350 Crew Cabs with lifts and 35 inch tyres (there is a dealership in Scottsdale I drive by all the time that has about 20 lifted new and late model Ford and GM pickups on it) to worn out 20 yr old Rangers that look like they were brush painted w/ fiberglass front ends w/ flared fenders and roll bars in the bed, made to look sort of like Baja racers...with the front ends higher than the rear..really dumb looking.
