  1. I don't think I'm familiar w/ the coupe version..is that a different kit than the ZZ Top kit?
  2. Did it have SC-specific interior trim, SC front and rear fascias, side ground effects, and SC-specific wheels? The SC looked pretty distinct from a regular T-Bird.
  3. Ahhh...two piece tires...one of my earliest kits was an AMT mid '70s Mustang II, it had awful 2 piece tires...later restored the kit and replaced the tires w/ normal ones. Some of the worst kit tires I remember were on a number of Revell kits from around 1980, squishy soft rubber tires.
  4. The V8 one was badged a Thunderbird LX IIRC...had one as a rental back in the day..decent car.
  5. I had a 4cyl LX in college...pretty under powered and not too memorable. Still enjoy my '87 GT though. But I really want a '12 Boss 302.
  6. I haven't been to DC in about 15 years...I want to go see the relatively new WW II Memorial. I think my late father (a WWII Army Air Forces veteran) would have enjoyed it..
  7. I'd like to find the original text...I can't remember it exactly. I do have one the Arii Challengers, but it's a more recent issue w/ out that description on the box.
  8. One of the releases of the Arii '73 Challenger (maybe in the American Violence series) had some funny mangling of English..something like the 'the rumbling V8 makes the driver's bowels vibrate'...
  9. I've built the MPC '71-73 a couple times, decent body and interior, but weak chassis and engine....and the AMT '73 seems to only build as a race car (I assume there was a stock version back in '73). Would be nice to see a newly tooled '71 Mustang.
  10. Revell's new releases seem to generally arrive at hobby shops that are in the Revell Preferred Retailer program around the 20th-25th of the month and everywhere else two weeks later. Only 1 shop locally I know of that has that, and I usually get new releases I'm interested in from them around the end of the month or wait until the following month and order from my usual online dealers.
  11. I googled '59 Caddy Ambulances, and the few pics I saw of ones that weren't Ghostbusters versions had a bumper w/ a license plate recess...similar to the car bumper but without the rear grille trim.
  12. The AMT rear bumper wasn't a period '59 ambulance style, though...IIRC the kit had a custom bumper w/ a diamond tread step area...maybe that represented a custom bumper used on the movie car...the Modelhaus part is a normal bumper w/ license plate recess...they also have the hubcaps in their set.
  13. At one time, the Modelhaus made a stock rear bumper for the AMT one, IIRC I got for mine. Still haven't built it, though...it's somewhere in my stash..
  14. Missing Link Resin offers a '64 Ford Galaxie 4dr sedan body and interior...not sure if the 4dr ht has the same roofline that year or not, could probably be modified into one.
  15. That's the way it is on another modeling board...(they want it to be a happy sunny 1950s world there) .but I would think legitimate criticism should be allowed/encouraged here....
  16. Is it constructive criticism, whining, or whinging? All depends on the source and the context...
  17. Hmmm....I found the Revell multi piece body kits I built as a kid in the '80s rather challenging ('59 Skyliner, '60 Corvette), but they did turn out pretty well. The first model I ever built way back in 1978 was a Revell '56 Chevy 2dr sedan w/ opening doors, trunk, etc..it was challenging (but I was 8 at the time). For sheer lack of accuracy and badness though, it's hard to top the various Palmer kits I've inherited/etc over the years... I found a lot of the '80s MPC reissues to be not so great...poor fitting, molded in hideous colors (bright orange, bright yellow, black, bright blue) w/ dark window tint, poor chrome, flash, etc. Years later I've aquired the original issue versions of many of those, much better. I've also found the Trumpeter kits dissapointing for various body accuracy issues, at least when compared to vintage annuals of the same subject.
  18. I saw one on I-10 a few months ago...quite an interesting front end to see in yer rear view mirror..
  19. So is it the AMT version or the PL version to be reissued? I have the AMT version...never had the PL one. Wouldn't mind having another one, thought about kitbashing one w/ a Revell ht to do something custom..
  20. Kinda like in the movie 'The Road'...
  21. Nice...looking forward to that. I built an Imai Pantera kit about 25 years ago...it had the big flared fenders and wings. Nice to see a normal one kitted.
  22. Sweet...
