  1. A Cadillac engine in a Mercury seems very strange..was that a common thing to do back in the '50s?
  2. Hopefully, they do the Mach 1 grille and taillight panel correctly (and badging). Nice to hear about the 428CJ, though I'd rather have seen a 351 Cleveland.
  3. Chopped 49 Mercs aren't really my thing (I'd rather have a kit of a '69 Mercury Marauder or an '03-04 Marauder), but I may have to pick one up..seems like an interesting kit with a lot of possibilities...
  4. There's no engine, so that work's done for you..
  5. Hmmm..very nice. I need one of those, I think.
  6. I like the white w/ black wheel look...I have a Revell '06 Mustang I want to do that way..not sure what wheels, though...preferably not a 5-spoke design.
  7. That's going to be sweet when it's done...looks great so far. Another Camaro concept I saw in a mag recently that I really like is the 'F-Bomb' in Hot Rod...flat olive green w/ black trim..interesting.
  8. I would hope so, but so far, it's the same old same old, bickering, OT rants, etc... the design of the board is a big limitation over there. I still read the HHMB, but this is definitely the place to be for modeling content.
  9. A good website and good customer service goes a long way...that's why my favorite vendor for new Revell and AMT kits for a long time has been Evers Toy Store (www.everstoystore.com).. I've bought from them for years, they have pics, an easy to use shopping cart, etc...and they are fast to ship in stock items, do preorders effectively, and use UPS, which I prefer over DHL... The only negative with them to me is that they don't stock the Model King special issue kits (but I have other sources for those kits). I've also used Model Express w/ no problems. I've looked into buying from Model Roundup, Fantastic Plastics, and Model Empire, but their websites don't work very well (no shopping cart, too much typing needed). Tower Hobbies has a pretty nice website and selection, but I haven't tried them yet.
  10. Very sharp...the lines of the Starliner lend it self very well to two-toning...
  11. This kit isn't a Wal Mart exclusive, though, is it? I see it listed on online model vendors websites as 'coming in August', so I'm assuming it will be readily available elsewhere eventually...
  12. That looks sweet... I have the TMR '71 Challenger R/T ht and '70 Charger R/T ht, very nice..
  13. Went in two Super Wal-Marts between yesterday and today...one had the usual thin assortment of AMT and Revell kits, nothing new. The other had a sign on the aisle saying 'Models' but no models on the aisle, just kid toys....though I recall seeing models there a couple months ago (this W-M is less than a year old).. Don't know about the other 20+ local W-Ms.
  14. Yes..Revell has done well w/ the reissues this year so far, and they have a bunch of announced and rumored modified reissues coming up, and a couple new tools... so between Revell, Revell of Germany, and Fujimi issues, I'll be happy with new kits for some time to come...
  15. For new, domestic kits I really like Evers Toy Store www.everstoystore.com (Revell, Revell of Germany, AMT, etc) and Model Express (www.modelexpress.net), and I've also bought from Hobbylinc, Model Empire, Fantastic Plastics, Model Roundup on occasion. For Japanese kits I use Hobby Link Japan (www.hlj.com). I buy most of my supplies (paint, tools, etc) at my local shop, but also buy custom paints from Model Car World.
  16. Beautiful build... the Gullwing is probably my favorite '50s design. I have a couple of the AMT kits and the Minicraft 1:16th to build eventually..
  17. I had bought from HH off and on for the last 20 years.. they were one of my primary sources, from the era of mail order to the era of online ordering of the last decade or so.. I'll miss them, esp. as a source of old kits and MK issues. For ordering regular issue domestic kits I'll probably stick with Evers Toy Store (www.everstoystore.com) whom I've used about as long as HH... I've used Model Roundup, Fantastic Plastics, and Model Empire in the past, but their websites aren't very easy to use--Evers has pictures of the kits and a shopping basket, and quick shipping. I've used Model Express some also... and also support my local hobby shops, I still have several good ones in the metro area..
  18. I'm definitely going to miss HH... I started ordering from Tom in the late '80s, from his mail order catalogs. HH was one of my primary new domestic kit sources for the last 20 years...
  19. Interesting...I haven't seen 'em on ebay yet (last night)...usually new releases appear on ebay dealers before anywhere else...
  20. Probably all CGI or a kit car of some sort. The greenhouse looks like a Ford GT, the front end reminds me of a Noble.
  21. Nice to see one of those built up. I have a few of those R&R Chevy wagons ('61,'62,'63,'69) in my to-build closet that I need to get around to eventually..
  22. I'm really enjoying the Model King issues..most of them are reissues of kits I've never had let alone even seen (like the '59 Imperial), so most of them are like brand new tools to me.
  23. That chassis and engine look great... I keep thinking this would be interesting to shorten the chassis, mount smaller tires on and an '06 Charger body to do a modern 'Hemi Under Glass'..
  24. That is sweet...looking forward to see the results.
  25. Looks good..but it loads slowly...and I'm on a fast computer w/ Firefox on cable..
