  1. Sharp build... great photos also, in those first pics with the background, lighting, and shadows it looks like a 1:1 in someone's driveway...
  2. I've heard of Tommy Bolin, because he was in Denver in the '70s (long before I was here). My hometown in Ohio is the birthplace of Dean Martin, Jimmy the Greek, Traci Lords...and a band called Wild Cherry was also from the area--known for 'Play That Funky Music'..
  3. I've heard of both of those..will have to make a point of checking them out...whenever I'm in the Bay Area I'm always there for work (computers) or geeking out with friends (going to places like Urban Ore or Fry's Electronics)..
  4. Neat kits...I'd posted a follow up about the March on that other board this AM but apparently the thread got whacked during the day.. I've got some neat Fujimi small-car kits myself on the way from HLJ---a Nissan Cube (perfect for a cubicle dweller like myself), Toyota bB, and an '06 Subaru WRX...looking forward to those. Alas, no more surfing the internet at work for me, I started a new job Monday, and the company has pretty restricted internet access (I can't access ebay or model car boards, but I can access CNN and corporate sites like Oracle, Sun, etc)...big change being a new guy in a company after 4 1/2 years in the same place, but I needed a change--I was so bored at my old job... the new gig is a contract rather than salaried, but more money, newer technology to geek out on, different industry (aviation software rather than insurance software)...the commute is longer (6 miles each way rather than 1/2 mile) and no parkage garage, but looks promising so far..
  5. It's a pretty sweet kit..love the styling...mine arrived from HLJ Thursday.
  6. A guy I know from another board is driving there for the event from Massachusetts...started out with a '59 Buick 2dr sedan, but switched to a Dodge Intrepid after the Buick had some problems..
  7. Cool...I'm a former Springs resident myself...lived there '97-02..I liked Compleat Games and Hobbies and the Hobby Town on Woodmen. I haven't been back in about a year, will have to go down this summer and check out Compleat.. I live in the Denver area (Greenwood Village) now and frequent Colpar's Hobbies in Aurora, and make it up to Mizell's Trains once in a while, though I buy most of my models on the internet. I haven't been to Don's in Greeley in about 5 years..will have to take a trip up there this summer.
  8. Welcome, Robert.. I think you will like it here..lots of interesting stuff, and the board works well.
  9. They have good stuff...I just got the '70 Charger in the mail yesterday. I have an MPC original built stock, so this one will be done Pro-Tuning style...I'm thinking Viper V10 or a 6.1 Hemi SRT V8, Aoshima wheels, maybe use the chassis from an AMT '68 RR.
  10. Which pickup? The Lindberg '67 'Little Red Wagon' reissue is out now..
  11. Interesting...I haven't built many 1:32nd since I built many Lindberg and Revell snap kits as a kid. I've never seen any of the Pyro kits, long before my time....may have to try a couple of these.
  12. Daily driver for almost 7 years now is an '00 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4x4. 78k miles now. My weekend toys are an '87 Mustang GT (63k, had since new) and a '96 BMW M3 (55k miles). I'm probably going to get something new in the next year or so.
  13. I've bought quite a few parts from Drag City on ebay...hoods and uptops mostly..good stuff. I've got quite a few F&F resin bodies I bought from them 5-6 years ago or more, and look forward to seeing what Drag City offers in the future.
  14. I've bought a lot of parts and a few bodies ('68 Hemi Dart, '68 Dart 2dr sedan, '71 Demon, '72 Demon, '69 Mustang coupe, '66 Chevy II 2dr sedan, etc) from AF/X in the past--all of it of good quality but their delivery times were very spotty..sometimes a month or two, sometimes 4-6 months...and their communication (response to emails) is difficult at best..I don't know if they are using a library computer once a month or what I'm not sure if I'd buy from them again given what I've heard on various boards..
  15. Speaking of back halfs, is anyone offering in resin an '71 Duster chassis with a tubbed back half?
  16. I love those '50s Mercs...seen a few at car shows. Beautiful design. I've got the big Minicraft kit and a couple of the AMTs in my to-build closet.
  17. Interesting idea.. I've had a similar phantom what if idea for a while...how about a 69 Camaro-based Oldsmobile F-body? I'm thinking '69 Cutlass like grille, Cutlass engine, etc.
  18. The '49 Merc doesn't interest me, but I can see myself getting 1 each of this, the '55 Chevy ht, and the Cuda. It looks like the '67 Corvette reissue has a new custom hood option also (looks like of like a Grand Sport hood)...
  19. Some pretty cool builds there...I esp. like the 300C variations!
  20. Speaking of singlecabs, my manager has a red '62 with a Porsche 356 engine..sweet truck. (he has an eclectic group of cars besides the truck-- a '95 Tahoe 2dr, '07 Saab 9-3 wagon, a New Beetle Diesel, and an '06 Corvette Z06).
  21. Good description..I buy much faster than I build...I buy 5-10 kits per month but only finish 1 or 2 per year lately.. so I have about 250 built kits, 250 'used' builtups to restore, and 1000+ unbuilts. I keep the box and instructions for all my kits.
  22. Got mine yesterday..dissapointed to see the bull bar molded into the front bumper. I have an original issue molded in yellow somewhere in my stash, and I don't think it had the bull bar molded to the bumper.. I'll have to swap the tires for something nicer and fill in the holes on the body, but it should build up to a neat kit.
  23. One thing I've noticed about this kit is so many of the builtups I've seen are lacking the quarter windows, which is incorrect since they don't roll down on the 1:1. I guess many of these builders are too young to have seen them in 1:1 back in the day. The quarter window is a fiddy fitting piece, though...
  24. Ah...he's looking for an 'outlaw' style hood. Lookout Resins has one, and I think PSF Resins or Drag City may also offer one for the '69...I've bought parts from all 3 on ebay with no problems.. I don't have their website links handy, but an ebay search turned up one by Lookout..
