Ford GT40, Meng, 1/12...
Mr. Metallic replied to Matt Bacon's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Very effective yet subtle weathering. the rubber/soot with the obvious hand prints in it is perfect. -
Jim Travers ‘32 Ford stock car
Mr. Metallic replied to crossfire 2004's topic in Other Racing: Road Racing, Salt Flat Racers
Well done. I'm not much of a circle track guy, but this being a 32 Ford, it speaks to me. Very clean execution, and faithful to the inspiration vehicle. -
Wow! I love this body style, and I've had a similar pro street build designed in my head forever. Very clean and well done build. The engine and stance are killer.

Did you make any further progress on this? Looks like it would fit a whole lot better than this body fit the frame. Never paid attention to the ugliness poking out underneath. nothing like the lithe profile on the actual car.

Dang, you just burst my bubble. That being said, were there any kit specific parts for these other 4 that we would need to come up with other than the body? Or would everything be in the Monte/GTO box?

Me too. They haven't made it to the one's i really want yet, the Camaro, Cuda or Mustang. However, there is hope they follow the theme set by their recent reissues of all 6 chopper kits they did over the last 2 years, including the 2 (black max and cobra) that were never reissued until now. Fingers crossed they do the same with theses.

1/25 Revell F&F Brian's Ford F-150 SVT Lightning
Mr. Metallic replied to Casey's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Glad that Revell finally did the work for me instead of having to make my own decals. This has been a no brainer for nearly 2 decades, glad they finally got the licensing lined up with the demand cycle for this kit. Isn't the movie truck lowered a little? Doesn't really matter because I can handle the mod.- 21 replies

Everything in the new issue is carried over from the first issue (pictured here) except they swapped the SBC out for the Nailhead originally seen in the first issue 29 roadster, and the Halibrands have been deleted.

That's exactly what Moebius did, three + years ago. Not sure where the disconnect happened between the people providing feedback and the company, but questions were raised about the roof at the time. But what matters is, they took the time and got it right, in the end.

Mr Metzner, thank you to you and your team for taking the extra steps to take this promising kit from good to great. I was in for one, but now it will be multiple. Thank you

Great drum brakes (esp. for hot rods)?
Mr. Metallic replied to OldNYJim's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Check out the Monogram 32 Ford roadster. This is the tooling that started out as the Little Deuce, but has been modified and reissued into many versions over the last nearly 60 years. But even the most recent reissue still included the brakes, which in my opinion are the best rendition of the Ford brakes. It's only the backing plate, but unless you plan on having the wheels be removable you don't need the actual hub detail. -
*Painting in Cold Weather*
Mr. Metallic replied to Zippi's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
A cheap new one should run about $30 plus another $5 for an oven thermometer (if the unit you buy doesn't have it's own thermostat. I would check 2nd hand and thrift stores for a used one to save more money, but it may take some waiting to actually find one. I think there's a pretty extensive topic dedicated to dehydrators somewhere here on the board. edit- found it- -
1/25 Atlantis H1223 Mooneyes Dragster
Mr. Metallic replied to Casey's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Also, there are examples of the 1:1 car without Revell logos, so what they provided is still accurate, while not promoting another manufacturer is a bonus ? -
Picked up mine at the LHS yesterday (same day as the Mooneyes? What are the odds?) Sure, i have several of the first issue roadster, and one of the first issue coupe with the shrink wrap still intact on my shelf. But i want to support Revell for brining this back to market. I had two on hold, but left one there for someone else. I will buy more when i have to opportunity. It's a gold mine of a parts kit. Someone needs to sit down and do a side-by-side comparison with the first issue to see if there truly are an differences in the actual tooling itself (other than the obvious swap of the engines)

Missed this one the first time it was posted awhile back. Glad someone bumped it. Very cool build, right in my current build style, as you know
-
Very well executed conversion work. I've always liked that roofline, with the lack of a B pillar you almost lose the fact that it's a four door.
-
I never paid attention to the Polar Lights version of this kit. I didn't realize it came pre-finished to approximate stainless. you did a very nice job building it up. You may have convinced me to add it to my list of wanted kits.

Nemo's Car-The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen.
Mr. Metallic replied to carbuilder1950's topic in Model Cars
Very clean and well executed build. I enjoyed this movie a lot, but I guess it didn't do well enough to merit a sequel. I really enjoyed the premise of bringing together all those literary figures. I'm pretty sure it was based on a graphic novel. -
Back to the 80's (aka the Bodacious Billet Build-off)
Mr. Metallic replied to Mr. Metallic's topic in Community Builds
I hear ya there. We bought a new house last February, and it was a good 4-6 months before I had a space I could build in. Between getting settled, carving out a space, and other activities it took awhile. -
good to see this one up and running again. What's left to do?
-
That is very cool. Thanks for sharing
