  1. The son took over and has modelhaustires.com up and running, with the same high quality. Check it out to see if they have what you're looking for.
  2. Casey, you've really got me wanting to put one of these together, but instead with a small electric motor replacing the rubber band (and a switch). Only question is how to regulate the speed. this requires more research
  3. If you've been trying ebay or swaps and seeing too high prices, maybe post in the "wanted" section down the board here. I'm sure someone has one of these languishing in their collection and would be willing to part with it for a reasonable sum.
  4. This thread is almost 15 years old, but I think Matt is still kinda active around here. Let me tag him for you so he actually knows you're looking for him. Paging Mister Trotta @Matt T. Mr. Trotta to the white courtesy phone please Man, it's great to see this little truck again!
  5. Man, this is NICE! One of my favorites of your build. Nice to know those big meats fit back there without having to narrow the frame. I'll have to file that away in the old memory bank Subtle but extremely tough looking color combo.
  6. Glad someone bumped this because i missed it when you originally posted it. One of the cleanest builds of this tricky kit that I've seen. And thanks for the heads up on the TRJ 36 reference. I'll have to keep that in mind for mine.
  7. This thing is sweet. The color combo and flame execution are great, despite how you may feel about it yourself. Like others have said, great parts selection. But the difference maker is the execution. Blending the parts together to make them look like they were made for each other is the key, and you nailed it.
  8. This is very cool. I had been gathering kits for a long time to build "real world" versions of various Simpsons cars, like Mr Plow, Moe's POS with the rubber daisies all over, the family wagon, Homers ice cream truck, etc. Since my love for the show has waned over the years they have since fallen off the radar, but I still really want to build Mr Plow (and the Plow King ? ) and have kits for both. You went beyond what I was planning to do with actually altering the front end to look like the cartoon car. I was just going to paint a boxy 4 door sedan pink and purple and throw in some details. Yours is a home run!
  9. Cool concept, and well executed.
  10. Great build. Love the color combo, and man does chopping that top give it a whole new flavor. Nicely done
  11. Man, this thing is cool. I'm sure many of us thought it would be fun to build a model of when we saw the movie. but YOU actually did it, and executed very well. Kudos
  12. Thanks for bumping this, i missed it the first time around. It is stunning i especially dig the unique color combo.
  13. Nailed it. i wish I had grabbed a couple more of this kit when it was available because it is a great source for parts. But you just showed what a little care and some thoughtful kitbashing can do.
  14. A couple people have tried their hand at turning the body back to stock since the original Revell 56 has quite a few issues. It doesn't take a ton of work, especially if you study the info on what Foose's crew did to alter the truck, and then do those things in reverse.
  15. It doesn't fit. This kit is sectioned through the cowl, so any stock hood ends up a mile taller than the cowl
  16. Liking the work you're performing on this one. Is this a combo of the glue kit standard cab with the snap kit bed?
  17. Mods, feel free to combine this thread with the one Casey shared above. Sorry for the similar themed post
  18. That trailer is completely different from the one being discussed here.
  19. I do lots of pin and hole work on my builds. Just makes stronger assemblies overall, and allows you to assemble/disassemble it as many times as you want without worrying about glue and stuff.
  20. I say originated in quotes because I wonder if there were actually two tools for this trailer. Let me explain. Tagging in these parties due to their interest in this subject that we started talking about in the middle of @Kit Karson's build thread. I thought it would be better to continue it here. @chris chabre @foghorn62 @tim boydadding vintage kit part expert @Mark as well. The trailer that first appeared in the AMT 64 Corvette roadster kit. Single axle, with matching ramps that had the same hole pattern as the trailer itself. The general assumption is that the tooling was for this trailer was modified with new parts to make it a dual axle, and the ramps disappeared. Not sure of the chronology of the dual axle trailer, but it has appeared in the Fireball 500, and a couple recent combo kits including the Piranha racing team (I will amend this as other kits are identified) My question is, was the tooling truly modified after the 64 Vette issue, or is the ramp-less dual axle different tooling? I know this question may seem silly to some, and is posed here just for fun.
  21. Your work is stellar. Just that grill alone would give me fits. You've kept everything amazingly parallel, and all your joints are tight. Such finesse.
  22. Not to derail Kits build thread, but are the ramps back in the recently issued combo kits, or still sans-ramps like in the Fireball 500?
  23. Why not treat them as what they really are, posts. Paint them white just like the outside and it will make them look more like individual panes of glass. Loving what you're doing on this. it's getting close to the finish line.
  24. It is great stuff. Chris offers some unique stuff in his shop, especially for traditional hot rodders. Chris @Spex84 maybe you should share the new Quick Changes? I think @mrm is in the market for some .
  25. Hope these show up at HL at some point. I have 2 Wild One's issues and 2 80's molded-in-tan versions, but I'd love to have another at the right price. I miss Hot Curl
