  1. Well it says right there includes many new parts ? I knew there was always a custom version of this kit planned when AMT originally offered up this kit back in the late 90's, and the taillight lenses even made it in (accidently) to later issues. It's cool to see that idea finally realized by Round2. I dismissed the purple kit when it came out as I already had a couple original issue ones. Now I'll have to keep my eye out. Thanks
  2. I've never had an issue with Sharpie permanent ink not drying, usually within minutes. I've used them for windshield edging, piping on interiors, tons of stuff. Are you sure it's permanent you're using? Sharpie does make non-permanent pens too.
  3. Looks like it's going 100 mph standing still Those wheels are awesome!
  4. Looking good. Love the color. So those wheels were in the AMT 62 TBird kit? I'm assuming the most recent version with the purple car with scallops on the box? Didn't realize it had custom wheels.
  5. Was introduced to the 1/24 Mercedes G4 kit over the weekend, and now I'm on the hunt for one. Didn't realize they were based in Ukraine. Obviously my thoughts are with the people of Ukraine and hoping they persevere through these trying times
  6. Live and in color The louver experiment was successful. Archer smartly molded them in black to give them a look of a natural shadow line, so that helps sell the 3D effect, even though they aren't very tall. I'm quite happy with how they came out. And of course, fresh out of the dehydrator I couldn't help but do a quick mockup. I love the color. It's Testors Dark Cherry Metallic lacquer.
  7. Thanks for sharing these. Great stuff
  8. It's officially in color. First coat is on and in the dehydrator.
  9. Could do it as a stepside too since the beds and fenders didn't change between 53 and sometime in the 70's no?
  10. In general you don't want to sand metallics. It will make a mess of the finish.
  11. Like Dennis said, the stance is looking quite good. I like that you paired the front wheels from the kit with rears that match their pattern a bit better.
  12. Color looks good. Those Testors OneCoat paints (now Extreme Lacquer) were designed to be used with a clear coat. The clear needs to be applied within a few minutes of the final color coat, or wait a few days for the paint to cure. Here's what it looks like after clear (I sprayed mine color over silver)
  13. The reason you see the original kit on the shelves still is pure nostalgia, not a reflection of the quality of the new tool 57 Chevy.
  14. Primed and ready- Finally got everything necessary into primer last night after much procrastinating. The holdup was I was mostly worried about burying the louvers in paint, so whether to try to mask them off and prime the body. But then i feared i would mask it and pull the louvers off. I decided to just wing it. And happily, so far so good.
  15. I've heard that putting the AMT 62 BelAir frame under it is even easier.
  16. Cool, I'll be following this. I'd like to find one some day. I did get a Magnum III in a similar glued up state. Got it all apart without too much breakage. but I need to find some wheels for it. Note the builder didn't trim the stripe decals, the RH and LH indicators are still there
  17. This hobby is supposed to be fun. So, build it the way that make YOU happy.
  18. Chassis is looking good. Looks like you got the stance locked down.
  19. This is looking good. You're nailing the short wheelbase look of the Kookie and Tweedy T's
  20. There are more parts than just the wheels and tires that are worthwhile in the new tool AlaKart. The front axle is nice, and the frame/suspensions are well done. There are also aspects of the body that are more accurate than the original. The engine is nicely rendered from a tooling aspect, although completely undersized as has been debated ad-nauseum here and everywhere else since the kit came out. @Dave Darby is something of an expert on these kits @Ace-Garageguy also did a very nice comparison thread a few years ago
  21. It's only been 1 1/2 years since this thread was started when photos of the 3d scan in progress were shared. And due to the fact that those pics were pulled down within 24 hours by Revell points to it having been shared before the company intended to announce it. Normally when they announce a project they are much further along than that point in the design process, so that's why it feels like longer than normal. Throw in a global pandemic and that will certainly slow things down. I'm pretty sure James Duff and/or Tim Boyd gave a brief update on this last year after speaking to Revell and it is definitely still coming. @tim boyd @niteowl7710
  22. AMT 1330 -- George Barris Ala Kart Sooooo, I'm going to assume this is the New tool kit from 20 years ago? Highly doubt the pulled the trigger on re-engineering the actual missing Ala Kart parts for the 29 Ford tooling. Although they did the new wheels a few years ago. Hmm Feel free to slap me to wake me up from that day dream.
  23. I'm confused. At first i thought I had accidently stumbled on an old post. The weekly 40% coupon that you could use on "anything" in the store was discontinued a year ago. So I'm curious what the checkout person was talking about.
  24. Finally had a chance to do some sample spoons. The color will be Model Master Dark Cherry metallic. This color apparently has a good amount of pigment because there's not much difference between the three colors of primer. The top one is red, and that skews a little warmer than I want for this build, so looks like I'll be spraying everything with grey primer since there is virtually no difference between the grey and black.
  25. Thank you. I guess it's time for me to bring it on home as they say. Once I get to the point where I'm ready for paint is when I start losing interest in my projects it seems. But since it has developed a following that may be what it takes to keep this moving forward. Squirrel! ?
