  1. I know it's not the typically favored 1/25 scale, but I thought the Revell 1/16 34 3window and Phaeton were hailed as pretty accurate models, so much so that people often wish out load that Revell would scale them down to 1/25 kits. I've got a 3window and am inching ever closer to actually building it. Still crossing my fingers that Revell gives us an all new 1/25 33/34 after they are done reviving the 29/30 A tooling mess.
  2. Well, I've been casually eyeballing 40 sedans on eBay for awhile now, and was inching closer to pulling the trigger. Would still like to have an original issue, if I can find one for a decent price, but this fresh edition will work for me, especially with the usual Round2 goodies thrown in.
  3. Thanks guys. So the additions are the beautiful tires (can always use more of those), the decals and the mini-box? Dave, did you say a straight axle? Cool! Jon, thank you so much for the pics. I have an older issue of this kit, but with a 40% at Hobby Lobby I just might pick up another.
  4. Fender flares are separate parts
  5. I searched through the last 2 years of the Kit Reviews section and couldn't find a review of this kit. Just wondering what's in the box of this most recent reissue by Round2. I know they usually add new goodies/open the gates to give us long missing parts. I also tried the search function and didn't come up with much. Thanks
  6. Just illustrates how a change in rolling stock can really change any vehicle. This is one of the nicest builtups of this kit I've seen.
  7. Is the Model Master paint you refer to the Testors enamel? I don't recall that light purple available in their lacquer line(but I could be wrong). Combining that with the Tamiya pearl clear, which I'm pretty sure is a lacquer, could be the issue. I know the Tamiya and Testors lacquers have a reputation for being relatively mild, but that could be your problem. Also, the wait time between coats could be the issue as someone else mentioned. I usually don't go more than 10 minutes between coats of the Testors/Tamiya lacquers, or wait several days(overnight in a dehydrator). You can go from color to clear in that same time frame. Also, the Testors/Tamiya lacquers, I've used them in conjunction with each other many, many times with no issues, as long as you stay within those spray parameters. I hope you can work out the paint issue because that color looks very classy on your build.
  8. Man, those wheels and tires are sweet. And that chop is really nicely done. I'm following
  9. Cool stuff, as usual from your bench. I'll be following
  10. Not aftermarket, but take a look at AMT's Phantom Vicky from the late 90's. It can be massaged to work with the modern Revell 32 Ford series with a little work as I suspect you're trying to do.. The stance may be a little high out of the box, but can be lowered with a little work, and the parts themselves are pretty nice.
  11. Replicas and Miniatures of Md. cast that grille set. May even still be in the catalog.
  12. Yeah, the issue I was thinking was the custom sedan alone was the 2nd issue of the double kit, the one with no print on the boxtop, just the great picture of the Willys and 32. My bad
  13. I've never seen the custom version molded in white, but I have seen light blue, red and yellow. I think there's only been two releases of the custom Tudor, one as the double kit, and once by itself. So, when it came to plastic color I guess AMT used whatever it felt like on that day BTW, for anyone interested in doing the "Little Deuce Coupe" cover car, there was a pretty decent resin body offered of that car, same caster did a conversion to the A-Bros Adonis 60 Ford. The simulated padding on the roof insert of the Deuce body looked a little thick, but otherwise it seemed like a nice body. Anyone have one to share a pic?
  14. Like Bill said, this has quite a few great parts in it for building a traditional rod, especially the suspension parts, with the very nice dropped I beam front(with split bones), buggy spring rear axle, and 40's Ford backing plates at all 4 corners. These parts can be made to fit the new tool Revell 32 frame with very little effort. And the roadster body itself is quite nice.
  15. Just got my first order from Model Builders Warehouse. Great service, easy to use website, and lightning fast shipping. Plus, Randy is a great guy to deal with. Buy with confidence, and support this endeavor. He opened it just to help us builders gain access to some harder to find stuff. Highly recommended.
  16. Hey Steve, any further progress on this epic build?
  17. You're shocked? I've come to expect some sort of negativity in nearly every thread in this forum. But, that's just something on the internet as a whole, not restricted to this place. Anyway, I'm following along with this excellent build. Looking forward to some color shots.
  18. I use Sharpies a lot on interior details, especially piping on 50's-60's cars. I also use them to detail the molded in wiring in engine compartments, easier than paint.
  19. Just got a catalog a couple months ago and it's in there. As a side note, Altered States offers two different roof sections for the Revell 30 coupe, a more heavily chopped top and a stock height top with corrected stock style roof insert and visor
  20. This pretty cool. Wheel tire combo for the front may be a little big/tall, but the rest really has a great look
  21. Man, that engine looks incredible. This build is sweeeet!
  22. As usual, excellent work Bill. As with all your other builds, I'll be following along.
  23. Sorry Matthijs, can't see your pics. Bob, I'm guessing the one I saw was Choppers since it was at NNL East. it was phenomenal (another reason I haven't dragged it out to finish it because I'll keep comparing it to that build)
  24. I feel lucky to have one as well. When I saw this kit in the RMCM booth almost 20 years ago, the casting was so excellent I though the hood was molded shut, but it is removable. I had to have one and purchased it that day(despite having blown my budget already that day) Juha's design on the master is excellent, and my skills couldn't do justice to the design at the time, so I never finished it. I think I've only seen one finished. it was metallic orange(can't remember the builder) Juha does some phenomenal work, on his factory stock conversions, what-if design studies and customs. But his execution and paintwork(and photography) are also amazing. Looking forward to his endeavors into resin casting.
  25. Even though the Rat Roaster was all new tooling, it was based on the same "architecture" as the 3window, Speedwagon, roadster, Tudor and 5window tooling. Some refinements were made, especially to the frame itself, but parts should swap around between all versions. Looks like they're continuing this practice with the recent Model A series too. Here's to hoping they continue with more body styles in that line once they get the tooling for the 29 roadster and 30 coupe back online. And maybe even continue on with a 33-34 series!
