  1. I don't think the sentiment is that when Modelhaus closed the hobby would collapse. Or that it will collapse when others close. I think the sentiment is that if you see something you want from an aftermarket company, buy it now, don't wait because they wont be around forever.
  2. What a lot of us tend to forget in our very enthusiastic but small bubble here in the hobby is that we are still not the main target of the industry. yes, they have provided us with some "fringe" and less mainstream subjects the last 8-10 years, but for the most part the market is full of casual builders who are most familiar with anything Camaro, Corvette, Mustang, 60-70's muscle cars and street rods. That's what sells to the mass market.
  3. Bill is an amazingly creative builder, but more importantly, one hell of a guy. Very humble, and always willing to share his techniques and tips. And he has a realistic view of our hobby. He's a build for your own happiness type. Critics and experts be damned
  4. Man, this thing is stellar. Very clean execution on your traditional style modifications. As noted in the build thread, you did an excellent job on the ignition wiring and I think a few of us will be trying to imitate your technique. Two thumbs up on this one
  5. Ok, so how about this one? A new tool 57 Chevy Nomad. Make it a 2n1 with the stock Nomad and the wheels/tires and decals to build this. Maybe even use the iconic box art, how great would that look on the shelves? Now, I know the box art may confuse the more seasoned buyers among us who may think it's the old tooling in the box. So maybe Revell could put the new tooling and just use similar styled boxart while still show it's all new tooling inside. Even without the boxart, lets see that new tool 57 Nomad!
  6. Very clean build. Makes me want to dig out my Plum Crazy an throw a little detail at it. Built it as a kid and I think it would be fun to revisit it.
  7. Nice conversion work, and a clean, yet understated build. Definite sleeper material
  8. Yeah, last few years Round2 and Revellogram have gotten away from announcing anything more than 6 months in advance. Ever since the RCHTA show went away, where they used to make an entire years worth of announcements. They also probably got tired of hearing the complaints from people when something was "late" Now they don't announce until something is well though development and tooling. While there are still occasional delays, it's nothing like it used to be
  9. That's what I thought you said in one of your earlier posts, so I looked in a couple '66 GT350R kits at a swap meet this weekend and couldn't find that seat. All I could find where the stock seats in the boxes.
  10. What kit did the seat come from? This is coming together wonderfully.
  11. Two different animals though since the 58 was part of the Trophy Series of kits designed with more options and higher detail. The annuals from AMT were basically glorified promos with some extra detail and custom parts thrown at them. That being said, your build of this kit is excellent. You nailed the stance, and those wheels look killer tucked under the fenders like that. Very well done!
  12. That's a really cleanly executed build. Well done
  13. I've got money burning a hole in my pocket I'm specifically interested in the GT40 engine upgrade and the wide tire set
  14. Dave B, , can you fix the link to your pics so we can see the build again? Thanks!
  15. Thanks for the update Any idea on the next HRM shipment?
  16. Is there an advantage of the 1/24 scale grille over the 1/25 kit part? Also, I will soon have the kits you're basing your build on in my possession. Just have to order that Minilite wheel set
  17. Very cool build. I dig the small details that you've added
  18. That Frenzel unit is cool. Wis that was avaialable when I built this one. Made my own on the same principal out of my parts box... As for the original posters question, here's my take on a Latham on a flathead...
  19. That is some of the most accurate flathead engine wiring I've seen with regards to simulating the plug/wire connection. Very cool technique. Thanks for sharing
  20. That came out really cool. Nice job adding additional details.
  21. Yeah, that's if I can get one of the old R/M AAR's cheap enough. Prices seem kind of high on eBay if I'm only stealing a few parts out of it (and unlikely to ever use the rest of the parts for something else.
  22. I'm thinking hard about that too. But all of a sudden I'm pushing that $100 project mark, for what started as a desire to build a nice box stock model hahaha
  23. Hot rod versions of both the coupe and convertible include Edlebrock heads, chrome exhaust manifolds, and I believe 2 carb intake. Dropped front axle and spring. Ford 9 inch out back with a dropped spring.
  24. I love that the mods to make this are mostly scratchbuilt, and you execute it so well. Other then the old AAR parts(and Mustang air cleaner), and the addition of the beautiful Fireball Minilite wheels, there doesn't seem to be much outside sourcing. I'm not going to lie, I plan to use your build as a blueprint for my own down the road(as I'm sure others are as well). Thanks for bringing us along for the ride.
  25. Well fellows, I went ahead and took the plunge on a reissue Gulf sponsored Fujimi Mk.1 kit. Now I'll wait patiently for the HRM detail set to get back in stock at Model Builders Warehouse. Still debating if I want to go as far as the Studio27 photoetch set. Thanks everyone for their insight on this.
