John Muldowney passed away
lordairgtar replied to DrKerry's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Condolences to his family and friends -
First, so sorry for your loss. Harry was a great ambassador to the model car hobby. Never met him personally but had a lot of talks online about many things. One person in your area I would contact is Dean Milano. He's on Facebook and used to have a toy and model museum in the Chicago suburb of Elmhurst. http://www.toys-n-cars.com/ Pretty much an expert on model value.

NNL East and the most wanted list!

Yes, Like someone posted, the list started out on Milwaukee NNL. I wrote on the first page wanting the 68/69 Buick Skylark/GS, the GAZ Chaika ( I know, I'm weird like that), and the 57 Studebaker Golden Hawk with optional Packard hawk parts. -

The Joys of Unpacking
lordairgtar replied to Swifster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I know how this is. I've been going through my stash in the garage and found things I forgot I had. A first issue 63 Olds by JoHan all pristine and untouched, plus a 63 and 64 Buick, a 62 Mercury and much more. Found a project I was working on apparently...a 1/32 scale Lindberg Cordoba and a Monogram 1/32 scale 69 Charger without a body. Was obviously thinking of merging the two together for a better detailed Cordoba. -

First time I saw on of those GMC V6s, I thought I was looking at a 409 with missing plug wires. -
Very nice. I heard about those subscription kits. Kind of pricey but most paint work is done for you unless you wish to change the color. I really want to try one.

What do you drive?

Interesting to see one with right hand steering. -
A house full of Plastic & Die-Cast

Those clear hoods a pristine. I'd buy one. I knew a guy who did that. Kinda made it interesting to locate boxes and kit parts to rejoin with their correct boxes. Keep us in mind when you get a handle on all this. Monumental task indeed. -
Two EldoRods in scale?
lordairgtar replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I saw Revell's Foose Caddy at Milwaukee NNL and it's nice. Just for the dual inlet air cleaner alone that will make it into many hot rod builds. It's a full detail kit and the truck is a new tool as well. -
Model show entry

Nice to see a build up of the Howmet TX -
Waukesha (Milwaukee NNL) was awesome. The swap the following day netted me a sealed JoHan Mercedes Coupe for $10 and a LifeLike 1/32nd scale Hispano Suiza for $5. Got a glue bomb Revell Cherry Pie sedan delivery for $5, a big bag-o-tires for $5, and a 1/32nd scale Mustang fastback kit by AMT for $17. I also won a raffle kit of a AMT VW (the short body one), a Hemi and Corvair engine pak and a sharp stabby thing (Excel hobby knife)

Sad Sad Sad News: Our Harry Passed Away
lordairgtar replied to Gregg's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great comment, TĂșlio. I lived just 80 miles from him and really wanted to meet him but never had the chance. We spoke a lot over FB and the forums and emails as you did. When Harry says a build is perfect, that is very high praise indeed. -
I don't care if they come with a rip, just as long as I can still read the text inside. I don't save my mags either. I give them to fellow modellers at the club and young kids.

I understand this. I'm not disabled but my wife is. Her income is at a fixed rate and COLA was like 14 cents in January. Rent and food and fuel goes up higher than that. Whenever Lori wants an item, be it clothing, treats, night out...I do my best to accommodate her desire. I soon to retire and my income is going to be fixed as well. My model car fix has been satisfied by the raffles at our monthly meeting. $10 worth of $1 tickets and I usually leave with two or three models. I buy built ups and parts bags and create full kits from that. Although we are in a better income level than yours it seems, I understand your situation. We also chose to leave the city we were from and move to the suburbs to be safe. Costs more to live in my small city but I don't have to fear that bad element where I was from. I assume you have a car. Did you ever consider delivery of food? I was homeless many years ago and I spare changed my way into buying a $50 dollar Chevette. Started driving for a local pizza maker and in two months I had an apartment and a newer better car. I am now considering driving for Uber. Best of luck to ya and my deepest sympathy for your loss.

Nothing was interchangeable from the Coupe to the hatchback. It was much closer to the Vega. Hatchbacks had a severe tuck under (tumblehome?) where the doors are. The coupe, not so much. I know the coupe doors were a bit lighter in weight. My mom had the Pontiac Coupe which I drove a lot.

Looks like any car parked in Wisconsin during winter. See many cars with power cords hanging out of the grille.

Built that kit too. Nice model

Really nice guitar! I collect the old cheap knock offs, usually Korean or Japanese made like a Hi-Lo. I have a Pro Aria XX in black and a couple of others. These are usually pretty beat when I get them and are used mostly as air guitar props at karaoke. My question is, can a person find parts to actually make these a working guitar?
