  1. Mispell of the word Rallying
  2. Wouldn't a Yenko or Nickey Nova technically be a COPO
  3. During my many travels around the US in the early seventies, would chance upon the odd model here and there. A truck stop out side of St Louis yielded an AMT Dump Truck kit. In Weldon Illinois, I was working with the Christ Is The Answer Ministry and the small town had a little grocery store that sold kits. That one yielded up the AMT 63 Vette. A small hardware store in Braidwood Illinois yielded two Ertl IH Farm Wagons.
  4. When I was growing up in Milwaukee on the south side, there was a little drug store on the corner of S.31st and W.Greenfield ave. It was called Louie's and it had a soda fountain where you could get malts, Stewart sammiches and popcorn made in one of those machines that shook the little pan the popcorn came in similar to Jiffy Pop. Anyways, he had general merchandise as well as medicines. There was always a couple of model kits. I bought my MPC 65 Monaco and the 66 Polara there. Over on Muskego Avenue there was a small hardware store that also carried models. I bought the AMT 69 Wildcat (or LeSabre...I not sure) and a JoHan Mercedes Benz kit. He had a small selection of Pactra, Testor's and AMT paints in bottle and spray too.
  5. Maybe the Porsche tractor is in response to Heller's tractor kit. i certainly would enjoy building this kit. The Buggy will be bought for going into my 1/32 shelf. Great quick build to break slumps. Nothing sad about it.
  6. ...and of course I had just located a rare hard to find 1/32 scale Mustang anwhat do they do? They re issue it. Well, that's OK, the new re pop will be built and the original will go into the Lord Air Gtar Museum of Model Memories as a rare bagged version of the Mustang.
  7. A lot of really nice engines mentioned. I have to give props to the GM EcoTech four cylinder engines. Tough little beasts. Both my HHRs had them and now even my GMC Terrain has the 2.4 version. Pulls that heavy vehicle around quite nicely. Also an older Volvo B18 four was a reliable solid engine. Simple to work on too.
  8. Traded off my HHR in April and bought a 2011 GMC Terrain. Nothing wrong with the HHR but I needed something with more space.
  9. Got the 67 Dodge Coronet Foose edition from the Lovely Lori
  10. Not really. A set of three different sizes will set you back about 27 bux from ArtPrimo.com, and a little extra fer shipping. Best chrome finish out. No under coat, is pretty durable to. Just don't rub on it as it will dull. Has anyone clear coated this yet?
  11. If the app has it available today, couldn't the trained chimp behind the register let you have it today. He coulda pulled it off his own phone for you for crying out loud. I have had cashiers do that for me.
  12. Having built one and having three of these on hand, I can say that it does indeed have a full engine, not an engine plate.
  13. Went to the model swap in Waukesha Wisconsin and came home with resin stuff. A TnT kit of the Mad Max car...very crude. A nicely cast 67 Ford and a Jimmy Flintstone Ford Econoline van body.
  14. 30 dollar kits? Meh! Since I don't gamble, drink excessively (glass of good Single malt Scotch twice a month maybe) , nor smoke...this is what my spare money (after bills are paid) goes to; my hobbies. I buy what I want and yes, I search for the deals but I support my local independent hobby shop (shout out to Model Empire), and swap meets. I'm not a wealthy person and close to retirement age. Bills get paid, meds get paid, food bought, gas, clothing....after all that is done, then I buy models. I've paid more than $30 on a kit or two but I find my LHS discounts right off the bat, and we have several swaps in our area too that more than enough satisfy my model car predilection. And I never have to darken the doorway of a Hobby Lobby ever doing it.
  15. They've done that. remember Lee Models? They copied a lot of Tamiyas stuff.
  16. we are a bunch of old farts on here.
  17. Built a lot of Mopar models and had a line of decals
  18. Some people on the forum might know Mike Dowd. He's done articles, had builds published and was a great modeler. He lost his battle with Pancreatic Cancer Saturday morning
  19. When I travelled to Nashville I took back roads and went through Evansville Indiana which had an Ollies. I picked up an AMT 51 Chevy rag top and a Dodge Charger from Lindberg.
  20. They retooled the custom wheels you liked for the new re released kit
  21. or the Dodge Magnum which was clearly the best looking of the Dodge versions. At my weekly cruise night I DJ, a couple have both a 'doba and a Charger Daytona, matching cars almost. He drives the "doba and she drives the 'tona.
  22. Very first model I ever built as a small boy
