  1. Oh boy that's gonna cause a fire storm......
  2. Collectible Automobile is the par excellence of car mags. Hemming's titles come in for a close second. I get CA at the news stand, and I subscribe to the Hemming's titles. Car & Drivel, Road and Tacky, Bloated Trend are general interest mags with a bit of everything and are written in the same technique as tabloids, ie, for the 5th grade reader, plus they tend to be filled with ads. Lots of header styles from just out of graphic art school types. The print equivalent of a sound bite. At least the Hemming's titles carry ads related to automobiles. Hemming's Titles are niche publications that cater to a specific reader. So are Rod and Kulture, Hot Rod Deluxe and those types geared toward traditional hot rods and customs. I know people keep mags for quite a long time but do they really hold the value. I see the same guy selling the same model mags from years back and he carries home most of them every time. I don't keep mine. I read at work during break and trade of with the boss for mags I do not subscribe to. Otherwise they go to another place where they will be read like the Zablocki Center VA or my Docs office. 500 lbs of NatGeo, or other mags is nothing but a fire hazard. read em, save the ones you want for ideas and pass on the rest.
  3. Bill, if you have your own health insurance from work, have your agent remove the medical provision from your car insurance. It's redundant and it will be better to use your own. You will get lower rates if you remove the medical.
  4. Awesome build, such a beautiful car.
  5. I went and bought a 61 Chevy kit from Lindberg and a AMT Avanti in 1/32nd sale.
  6. I looked and looked and looked some more. I just don't see the discrepancy, well maybe the symmetry thing. Not a deal breaker for me. At car shows, these are by far the most popular cars i draw. I've sat in front of these countless times that I can draw one without looking at it anymore.
  7. AMCs try at a very small car. Did AMC sell Gremlins in France as The Voiturette (bad joke)
  8. I'm giddy with excitement, Art.
  9. ...and they picked the worst possible color to replicate it in. In my opinion a t least.
  10. I've read articles about this and never read that. Can you provide link?
  11. Can one be kitbashed?
  12. Another spelling cop!!! Excuse me while I go work on my breaks....LOL. Nice call, Skip.
  13. I got a gifty certificate for Greenfield news & Hobby and a James Brown CD
  14. This is true. Companies in the US already do this sort of thing, but they don't manufacture model kits. Plus they tend to be companies that have been around for aeons. Their factories are already designed to deal with yearly tooling changes like a car company. They are also international companies that can rely on their network of toolers, computer operators, CAD designers, 3D designers et al to create a cohesive system. US companies like Harley build the largest part of their product in the US but small ancillary bits are manufactured over seas and by other small companies in the USA. A company like the one I work for does this kind of work because a wiring harness or cabling is still pretty much a hands on operation. Although we do molding, we could not do model kits on our molders because they do not run 24 - 7 and they are quite antiquated compared to what Mobeus' Chinese partner uses. Also, everyone talks about made in America cars...well even my Chevy has work done in it's manufacture that comes from every part of the globe. It's engine was made in Tonowanda, New York, the body and chassis was assembled in mexico, plus the wheels and other thing like rotors and caliper assemblies were made in China. It has been one of the most reliable cars I have owned. It's going on five years old now. The new Chevy Impala is Australian made on a Holden platform (Commodore). I am quite pleased with Mobeus' kits, I have several and I'm going out today to buy a Prostar truck kit.
  15. I work for a small job shop that makes mostly wiring harnesses for many things. One of our big customers who we call "Goofy Engineering" have much made overseas. We get the fun of correcting what the overseas maker screwed up. I do not understand the economy of that. Outside of management. ownership and office, we are seven people who can create, prototype, and have the ability to manufacture 3,000 pieces of product in a day. That goes from creating a print, to cutting wire and cable, crimping, stripping, bundling, soldering, loading connectors and building the conduits and platforms. I wear several hats in my job. I took it upon myself to learn a lot of the processes and procedures of our manufacturing when we were still a 50 person shop. When the economy went bust and overseas outsourcing became reality, I did not get laid off because I proved my worth by learning all the machinery and departments. My specialty is micro coaxial cables and coax cabling in the larger sizes as well plus soldering circuit boards by hand for custom applications. But I learned to do more. I also inspect. Harry P. is right, but all the capability in the world ain't gonna beat that bottom line. On a good note, we are getting a lot of cool work back from China because we have proven to provide a quality product that doesn't have to be reworked or shipped back. Some companies just scrap the bad work and continue with a new order.
  16. That was funny Nick. Packers is my pick, but Detroit can play some good football if they want to. Aaron Rodgers needs to stay healthy and get over the creeping crud that slowed his game last Sunday. It will be the offense and rushing and passing that will beat Detroit . Detroit has a better defense right now. Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Davante Adams and Eddie Lacey all are good recievers and can get down the field.
  17. watch out with that efficiency...the layoffs will begin.
  18. What's the weight limit on that bike.?
  19. Often considered the best aftermarket engines. condolences to his family
  20. Wow, someone in the group must be into modelling.
  21. You mean this car...no idea. Thought maybe a Chrysler product but it may be a customized dash.
  22. Bubba, plus the bumpers on a 68 Chevelle have those ribs just under the headlights.
  23. Our company could do the wiring harness if Revell called us.
  24. 2.35.9 here in Wisconsin.
  25. I would have to say JoHan's Mercedes Benz kits.
