  1. Subarus had the spares in the engine compartment too. The term girl car is insulting. I'm into the auto scene here in my town and I know a lady who drives a Viper. Granted it's the only Viper made with an automatic in it, but it originally was made for a disabled guy who sold it to my friend. This girl is all of 5 foot tall and drives that powerful car like a boss. Would you call Ashley Force's top fuel dragster a girly car? I think not.
  2. Love the Turkish license tags. Nice touch.
  3. When I was young, I went to live with my grandparents. Before that, my dad and mom had an old 49 Ford Tudor. I remember it had three on the tree and a flat head six. Not even the cool VG flattie. My dad and mom divorced and he kept driving the old 49 til he picked up a 54 Ford Tudor powered by a similar six, but it had a Fordomatic trans in it. I went to live with my grandparents when I stated 3rd grade in 1963. He had a beautiful 1960 LeSabre he bought new, and the neighbor had a 1960 Invicta, both two door hardtops. Gramps' car was metallic silver and the neighbor's car was white. Grandparents only had one car at a time and grandma did not ever drive, though she had a license. In the neighborhood we lived in most people worked for big firms like AO Smith, Briggs & Stratton, Harley, Harnishfaeger, Falk, Allis Chalmers and all the breweries. Some of the families in my neighborhood had two cars and some pretty high end ones at that. Chrysler Imperials, Buicks, Oldsmobiles. One friend whose father was an auto mechanic had two cars, his wife who was a very attractive blonde drove around in a hotrodded 59 Olds convertible. There were the assortment of Fords and Chevys and the odd Pontiac or Olds. One kid had a 56 Olds with a big engine and loud pipes painted a very bright red. Us younger kids used to sit on the curb as he fiddled with the triple carbs and cleaned or replaced plugs.
  4. Oscar Koveleski. Of course, sausage wise, I prefer fresh kielbasa as opposed to smoked.
  5. My dad had one of the Citations after he sold off his Buick Apollo (which I thought was an awesome car with its Buick 350) The Citation lasted and served him well until he got grandfather's 84 Regal. Now, about that weird tire set up...I remember that fad, it lasted all of 6 months around here. I think it was big in Chicago (I lived in Milwaukee 89 miles to the north). This set up was responsible for more broken axles and front suspension bits going bad. I almost bought a nice 70s Opel Manta until I found out that car had that set up in its lifetime. Nope, not gonna deal with suspension issues from some owners lack of automotive taste. That said, I would still buy this kit and build it stock.
  6. Nope, I have a red car and it cost the same to insure as my identical blue car was.
  7. But it does have keyless entry....no door, no lock, therefore keyless entry. Just a wonderful build, Harry.
  8. as an aside, Ralph Nader never owned a car himself.
  9. I don't have pics of mine as of yet, but I can tel you, it's a bit of work to make right. It is a round tail I believe as the kit is quite old. It was first sold by PYRO. The windshield pillars are quite thick. You are going to open the window hole up a bit to make it look right and rescribe the trim lines around the opening. I think the back light (window) is too small as well, but I haven't verified that as yet. The engine assembly is basic. Not a lot of detail, but if you can bring up pics online, you can see that it wouldn't take much to bring that engine around. Tail lights are molded as part of the body, so bare metalling and tail light clear red paint is the order of the day. I would swap out the head lamps for something better from the scrap box. It's a project, but can be made right. Still working on mine.
  10. I had one of those "crappy '' cars from the 80s. It was quick, handled well and was very reliable to boot
  11. I have a new Beetle in the family. I can fit two Peavey PR10 speakers, aMackie amp/mixer a folding mic stand and three cases of CDs. Patch bag goes into the back seat with speaker stands
  12. Yep, finally get my hands on a Tognotti/Wild Dream double kit and Round 2 releases it. O Well, the kit came from Kelli Khrome and I cherish it immensely.
  13. http://assets.blog.hemmings.com/wp-content/uploads//2013/04/1979CheckerMarathon_03_700.jpg Don't forget their private car version was known as a Checker Superba.

  15. And Eldon still produces model kits and slot tracks.
  16. Six cylinder, shaved hood are in my future.
  17. Then explain the name Fairlady (Nissan's sports car), Corolla, and Silvia.
  18. Well, sometimes even a company like Danchuck will get it wrong. The windshields are indeed different across the different body styles. I too, know this from experience.
  19. The front splash pan will need about a quarter inch removed from each side. They go waaayyy past where the wheel wells would normally be.
  20. I got two Buick small Block kits from Southeastern Diecast in the UK. Very fast transaction. Nicely done kits.
