  1. Love the color too! I've gotta ask though, what's with the candy-cane striped driveshafts?
  2. I was going to say a George Barris-esque custom car would be the way to go!
  3. Good luck with that one! It's not accurate as a Turbo, nor is it really accurate for the concept it is based on. Depending on how accurate you want it to be though, it is still fun to build!
  4. It's an okay representation, while simultaneously being a detailed kit. There were some liberties taken in order to allow it to be motorized (engine proportions off, IRS molded as one lumpy piece to accommodate a working axle) and not a lot of detail on the chassis. I'm using a small block from the Revell Camaro kit, along with with IRS from the Monogram Corvette to give it some more detail. I'm also converting it to an L-82 like you did.
  5. I like it! I'm building a 1/12 Doyusha kit the exact same way, except I'll be doing a black interior.
  6. Does that S10/S15 sheet have for both 1st gen and 2nd gen? Also, I'm excited to see the Ram sheet when you complete it!
  7. Eh, In my opinion the Chevy is the uglier of the two. The GMC front end is at least coherent and there is no ugly body crease running down the side.
  8. Yeah, why again are there suddenly a bunch of threads on the same topic that cannot be combined with each other?
  9. Nope, there are SRW utility bodies.
  10. Before you go any further with the grille, you should flatten out the top of it (since you're trying to make the kit more accurate) since it's too rounded.
  11. Yeah they would be the same, so at least there is a source.
  12. Dang, I must have missed that. Too bad they couldn't have given it stock style wheels, but I guess the ones it comes with are better than the DUBs in one of the other releases.
  13. Note that it doesn't say "new". I just checked the Revell site, and the kit number matches the one for the snap kit unfortunately. The kit that intrigues me is the Escalade, since they already sold an Escalade kit and this one is listed as new. The previous kit had the kit number of 2189 as well, so definitely not the same kit. Plus, it's most likely not a snap kit since those seem to have 1000 series kit numbers.
  14. I would say that the term "overpriced" wouldn't apply here, since it was listed at $200 and was only bid up this high. Granted, if there is a reserve that hasn't been met yet ( I can't remember how ebay displays that there is one), then it would be overpriced.
  15. My favorite drivetrain is a supercharged V8 with manual transmission. Why does this matter you ask? Well because my favorite vehicle features a turbocharged V6 with auto transmission. What car is that? Why the 1987 Buick GNX of course! *To clarify, I did not own one (unsurprisingly), but rather I would love to own one, or at least a clone.
  16. It's too bad that the Scout II isn't one of those subjects where a new tool with more pieces and more detail is a consideration. It's one of my favorite off-road vehicles and the AMT kit doesn't do it justice, especially under the hood.
  17. Just thought of another set of decals to have, how about a set for the 2nd generation Dodge Ram? I'm thinking the various engine and model callouts (1500, 2500, 3500) along with decals for the various trim levels and packages (especially the sport package and SS/T packages). It sucks that there weren't many kits released of the 2nd gen, but combining the full-detail Revell kit and snap AMT kits can yield most of the cab and bed configurations.
  18. Yeah, I was certainly disappointed when I saw the kit for the first time and realized how simplified it was!
  19. Depending on how accurate you wanted to be, I would suggest just using some of the tires from Fireball (such as the Mud King XTs) and getting some white letter decals that have the correct naming.
  20. Just looked through his sold listings, looks like most that were sold were much better quality than the ones pictured here. I wonder if they were all obtained in “collections” and he’s just selling them off. A better question is who is paying full kit prices for some of the built kits though? Some looked bad enough where I would rather pay $20 more for an inbuilt kit and have a bunch of good extra parts.
  21. I like everything I'm seeing so far!
  22. Hey, I have the Italeri "U.S. Wrecker Truck" that I plan on rebuilding eventually, and would like to see how other people have built any big rig wreckers to get some ideas for my build!
  23. Oh, and if you haven't come across them already, here are a couple pages which show the various decal packages for the '73-'87 trucks over the years that would help you out! https://autowise.com/all-of-73-87-chevy-and-gmc-special-edition-pickup-trucks-part-i/ https://autowise.com/all-of-73-87-chevy-and-gmc-special-edition-pickup-trucks-part-ii/
  24. That would be sweet to see! And I'm loving what I'm seeing from you so far, especially these three (I love building pickup kits!) Agreed 100%!
  25. Looks like he only did the Nite logos, not the body stripes.
