I would totally buy one if they did a factory widebody Starion with those fantastic 5-spoke wheels!

Future of the hobby
Jordan White replied to GaryR's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It seems like a circular problem when you think about it. The companies want to sell kits to make a profit, and they basically have two main groups to market to. One side is the older crowd who love the kits they grew up with, and subjects that they grew up with, who don't care about few, if any, of today's vehicles. The other side is the younger crowd who also love the subjects they grew up with, but they are from a much more recent era and are the same ones that the older crowd generally doesn't care for. In catering to the older crowd, the companies can focus on reissues and get more of a profit from using paid-for tools, whereas with the younger crowd (which they need to continues into the future), they would, in most cases, need to create new tools of more modern subjects, which costs them money and lessens their profit. -
I've said it before, but I would love for Round 2 to reissue a bunch of the AMT/Ertl era kits of 90's cars and trucks, especially the Chevy C1500 and Ford F150 3n1 kits.

Aftermarket wheels for my daily driver
Jordan White replied to Monty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Best thing to do is measure from the hub face to the edge of the wheel well. That will tell you how much room you have to work with for wheel width, and with that the backspacing. It is true that it is generally tough to have deep dish wheels on FWD cars without adding flares. Btw, what kind of car is it? -
Jeep Rubicon 10th AV
Jordan White replied to martinfan5's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Meng makes this kit, this is their third 1/24 scale auto kit. No relation to the Revell kit, they are in fact different generations. -
I keep forgetting that the gasoline I6 was an option, I never really see much mention of it.

1/12 Super Street '69 Camaro
Jordan White replied to camarobuilder's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
The one thing I will say is Shapeways is just a third party 3D printer, all the models are uploaded by individuals in their shops, so any issues related to scale or accuracy are due to the sellers. -
Very nice! Is that meant to be the Nissan diesel that they offered in the later model years?

Did you notice that the new Oldsmobiles are in early this year? -
Our Michael's is a joke
Jordan White replied to Lizard Racing's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
x2, the Hobby Lobbies I've been too have lately exceeded the amount of kits that Micheals carries by at least double it seems. -
So doing a bit more work last night, I realized that the two bodies aren't quite the same in height and profile. I realized that I will have to cut horizontally across the bronco body and add a piece in to get the right height, as well as to allow me to match the profile of the F250 body. Also I started cutting apart fenders to get the correct rear wheel arches installed.

What's the One Part You Hoard?
Jordan White replied to Casey's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Wheels and tires in general. You never know what will work unless you can try different combos both together, and with the kit itself. I will occasionally look on ebay for wheel and tire sets that interest me so I have more of a selection in the future. -
I'm building a 1991 Bronco Centurion in the Nite trim (if anyone recalls, I previously built a 1992 F150 Nite). I'm starting with a built Monogram Bronco, and one of the Monogram F250 kits. The F250 cab was already cut down to make it into a regular cab, but I didn't do the best job cutting it and figured it would be good for this build. I cut off the front of the Bronco to get it to the correct length, and now just need to change out the rear wheelwells and fill in the roof. I also shortened the chassis, but didn't get a picture of it. Starting kit: SAM_0276 by mudder_trucker8 Front and back combined: SAM_0279 by mudder_trucker8 SAM_0280 by mudder_trucker8 Rough height with a set of Mud King XT tires from Fireball Modelworks, and the 8-lug wheels from the 78 GMC 4x4 kit. Movie truck"Big trouble in little China"
Jordan White replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I started a build of this subject, but only got as far as the chassis and axles painted. It’s still sitting in the box waiting to be worked on some more. -
I will say the two issues with the kit are glueing on the rear bumper, and getting the hood to sit properly. Otherwise it builds up nicely!

Highway thru Hell
Jordan White replied to dieseldawg142's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It really seems like only the really popular shows get DVD releases nowadays. Discovery was, and probably still is, bad about releasing DVDs. After the first few seasons of many of their shows, they either gave up on DVDs or decided to break up the seasons into "volumes". -

Okay, so it hasn't been added yet. I know there was 5 last time I watched, and thought I saw on a site that shows what's on Netflix that 6 was out too. It will for sure be on there around the time that season 7 airs. -

Not sure if it has been mentioned, but Netflix has HTH seasons 1-6 on it as well. -
Wheel ID Help Too!
Jordan White replied to Jordan White's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Thank you very much! I just searched and I believe you are correct. -
Member Cheyenne93 has a build going of the recent Bronco kit, and is using a parts box set of American Racing Gambler-style wheels which he thinks may have come from a GMC Stepside kit. I can't find reference to one that featured them, so I'm wondering if anyone else here could make a positive ID on the kit source?
