Fireball Modelwerks Tire Question.

Perhaps Joseph's Goodyear Suburbanite tires would be a good match. -

Can there be too many parts?
Jordan White replied to Xingu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Of course, too few parts gives us the "melted" brake booster/master cylinder, battery, and heater core housing, which also goes back to the "too much detail in one area, not enough in another" dilemma. -
Can there be too many parts?
Jordan White replied to Xingu's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
48 pieces does seem a bit much for a kit smaller than 1/12 scale, so that is certainly a case of too many parts. However, on the other end, some kits (namely older ones) have too few parts, electing to combine parts together (such as heads and intake manifold). It does seem like a balancing act to have enough parts for detail's sake, but not too many to where the builder is overwhelmed by numerous little pieces or bad fitment that throws off a bunch of other parts. On the other hand though, it seems that many of the larger scale kits seem to not have enough parts. Most of the Japanese large scale kits have plenty of parts and detail to create a convincing kit (Tamiya and Doyusha/Otaki come to mind), while the American kits seem to be not much more than scaled up 1/24 or 1/25 kits. Sure they don't need to go all out with working suspensions and turning steering wheels, but at least have poseable steering and enough parts to fill out an engine bay properly. -
Hopefully I can get some more pics up soon! I have been working on getting the body painted, as well as getting the chassis buttoned up in preparation for paint.

AMT Tri Fives
Jordan White replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Boy would it be nice if Revell would come out with some 1/16 Tri-Five kits of their own, especially new tools that have well fitting parts and no metal axles (at least not in the front). I know that they've talked about not doing much more in the way of 1/12 kits, but 1/16 are not much larger than the 1/18 scale diecasts that people love, and they still allow for plenty of detailing over the smaller kits. Those would honestly be the only Tri-Five kits that I wouldn't complain about being new tools! -
New Chevy/GMC Truck Rally Wheels
Jordan White replied to Chief Joseph's topic in Truck Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Do these wheels happen to fit in the BFG Radial T/A tires at all? -
Embossing or imprinting would be smart, except if it's noticeable enough and the caster isn't dumb, they will simply fill the imprint with putty before casting (or sand it in the case of raised text).

They are very well done, especially the detail on the tires! It sucks though that they are one of the only modern aftermarket 8-lug wheels currently available (that I've found)! Hopefully Joseph makes some other styles eventually if these sell well enough.

Just go to the area with the cleaning supplies, it is just vinyl and tile floor finisher, here's what it looks like: I guess I'm not surprised that people don't know where it is, most probably wouldn't have used it at all since it seems to have gone by the wayside to keep your floors coated. -

2000 Dodge Ram 2500

I haven't had a chance to do much in the way of updating lately, been flipping between 3 different builds! I'll try to remember to post some pics tonight, but I did get the cab pretty much completed, with it currently sitting in primer. The bed required some square tube placed between the fenders and the inner box to straighten out the sides, and I will have to add the ribbing to the bottom as well. I also received a set of of wheels and tires from Joseph at Fireball Modelworks which will give it some height and some attitude! I tried to stay more stock in regards to the transmission, but I couldn't find any kits that have a manual that resembles an NV4500. I figure, since I don't plan on keeping this totally stock, I will simply use the kit transmission (TR-6060 which is similar to the T56) and say that it was swapped in for the 6th gear and better ratios (I have come across conversion kits to attach a transfer case, so it is a plausible swap). -

Italeri 2017 releases
Jordan White replied to The Creative Explorer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I am intrigued by the 1/12 500F, though it all depends on the price. Since the truck kits seem to go for 30 bucks and up around here, I'm thinking probably high double digits. -
I suppose I can finally post something here! As you can see in the first post, I'll be building a 2000 Dodge Ram 2500. It will have the 8.0L V10, 5-speed manual, 4x4, and will be the extended cab-long bed configuration with the Sport trim package. The kits I'm using are the Revell Ram VTS, AMT Ram 2500, and yes, the Meng F350! The F350 will be providing the chassis and drivetrain (minus the engine/trans), the AMT kit will provide the cab extension, long box, tailights, and rear bumper, and the Revell kit will provide most of the rest of the parts. Here's the combined cab and the long bed, I still have to do some final work on the cab. Finally, here's the chassis in its current state. I had to remove 3/4" from the frame, as well as rearrange a few pieces to get it in a similar configuration to the Dodge chassis.

Modelling Oddities/Mistakes
Jordan White replied to NY Modeler's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The one thing I've always wondered is what is it with the redesigned AMT boxes in the early 2000s? To me at least, they made the kits look really bad compared to earlier boxart. An example: Dodge Ram snap kit Old box: Newer box: -
A bit of work done to mine so far, the engine is out of the Revell '99 Silverado and is mostly built. I had to cut out a bit of the inner fenderwells to fit the exhaust. I also got the chassis mostly together. Front suspension is stock, rear consists of stock shocks with leaf springs from Revell '99 Silverado, and axle from an Aoshima kit meant to resemble a Ford 9".
